Villa Song Saigon: "Sunday Song"

How lovely! Sometimes on holiday you just need to check in, hang out at the giant pool, order great food and drinks, sleep in and reflect. This weekend was one of those. Thank you you villa song you made it all worthwhile.

"Wonderful hotel with excellent service. We stayed in the Art room. I could sit on my bed with open windows and listen to the river, music from the restaurant and the feel the cool breeze after the evening rain. The extra cost for the larger room was worth it. Overall a good value. The food was excellent, breakfast was included and could be had any time during the day. The pool was a high light for me. On enough for serious laps and the perfect temperature. Open 27/7! All their recommendations were great too."

Rachamankha: "Lovely Boutique Hotel- excellent location"

Loved this little gem! Excellent location right by the main temple in town. 5 minute walk to the Friday & Saturday night market. Staff was very friendly, we left at 5am for flight and they made us a breakfast box to go. The included breakfast was lovely!

Heritage Suites: "Undoubtedly one of the best hotels in the country"

"What a wonderful experience. Starting from the moment I arrived, till I left I was made to feel like I was royalty or even better. Being welcomed with a cold towel and a lovely drink was the perfect welcome after a long drive. Upon arrival the reception explained that there was going to be a party in the lobby that evening and therefore some noise transfer, hence they had upgraded me to a bungalow. And what an upgrade. This bungalow was absolutely magnificent, possessing it's own sauna and small garden. The room was comfortable and super spacious and could well have served as someone's home. The swimming pool was delightful, a comfortable temperature and the whole area was peaceful and somewhat of an oasis after a day of temple hopping. Breakfasts were of the highest calibre, with the most wonderful selection of pastries as standard, followed by orders from the menu. There was something for everyone and absolutely no way someone could go hungry. Everyday, upon returning from sightseeing, I was greeted by name and given a cold towel. It was these nice touches that stand out compared to many other luxury hotels. When I came to check out, I asked if I could use a shower on returning from my sightseeing and before my flight to London. Instead of just offering me a shower in the spa, I was offered the use of the room free of charge until 6pm that evening. I appreciate that the hotel was not too busy, but even so they did not have to do that, and it was very much appreciated. Their efforts to make me welcome will live long in the memory. Whilst I only stayed for two nights I had a fantastic time at the hotel, all capped off by the wonderful service. I could have stayed much longer."

Talabgaon Castle: "Nice hotel with AMAZING hospitality"

"Well, it was a long weekend break, and the wife and I didn't want to miss the opportunity to do 2 things - 1. Visit Bhangarh Fort - which is rated the most haunted place in India 2. Unwind and do practically nothing - as our work schedules are quite hectic On our way from Gurgaon, we covered Bhangarh Fort which is little detour off the route to Lalsot, then carried onto our final destination - Talabgaon Heritage Resort. The road till Lalsot Via Manoharpur - Dausa is quite good, with less traffic and we managed to cover the 290 Kms in about 5 hours. However, on the way back we took the Alwar route, road again is very good however the traffic on this road is more, hence took about 6 hours to reach. The resort is well off the grid, so basically nothing to do but relax at the hotel once there. This is made easy by the fact that the property is quite huge, very well maintained, the staff is ever so polite and eager to help, cleanliness is well taken care of and the food is simply AWESOME !! Dinner was by the pool side both nights, which was a nice arrangement with an army of staff standing by to force feed you :) Mr Narindra Mitra, the GM at the hotel, definitely deserves special mention for making sure we have a pleasant stay and managing the entire hotel/staff so well. Will definitely visit here during my next road trip maybe later this year. Couple of things which readers should be aware of while visiting the place - 1. There is no 4G/3G here for sure, so forget your laptop/ iPad at home and maybe tell the Airtel woman to come down here and do her crappy advertisement :) 2. Wi-Fi wasn't working throughout our stay due to some issue 3. Pool isn't really something to write home about and can be best avoided (The Management should make an investment and get this fixed)"

Golden Buddha Beach Resort: "Total relaxation (plenty to do if you want it?!) therapy for body and soul"

"From the moment I arrived, climbed out of the boat and waded ashore, I felt I had landed in some parallel universe. I was met, in the water!, by Massi (the general manager) who makes every effort to ensure your stay is everything you want it to be. The Baans are all different in size and style. I stayed in Tarntawan which is perfect for the solo traveller. The room has a comfortable bed with mosquito net, fridge/minibar and tea/coffee making facility. Housekeeping was very efficient and kept everything beautifully clean. The restaurant offers a great balance of casual yet elegant dining. Buffet style breakfast offers a good selection with a fabulous choice of beverages and green teas. There was generally plenty of choice for dinner - I am vegetarian and can honestly say I have never found it easier to eat well, with quality local dishes. I felt food and drinks - a great choice of juices, shakes and cocktails - were reasonably priced (wine is expensive but this is Thailand, not France!). The beaches are stunning, I walked the 10km stretch without seeing another person. The water is really warm and offers safe swimming. I snorkelled a few times but there's not a great deal to see. However, snorkelling trips are available to other islands. Yoga is available twice daily, I did the morning session. A big 'thank you' to Alex who I found to be a great teacher. This totally unspoilt island nurtures the wildlife which is fascinating - beautiful birds and butterflies, and monkeys doing their thing! I stayed for a little over 2 weeks and I loved every minute. My first week coincided with half term and there were a few small children ( it's a good destination for a young family). During the day I just never seemed to see them but they could be a bit much in the evening. You'd think that, with dinner being served until 9.00pm, the parents of infants would eat earlier and be more considerate to both the other guests and their own children! However, this was such a minor issue in the whole scheme of things. The massages are great, lovely at the end of the day. Everyday, I felt privileged just to be at Golden Buddha beach - it was all I could have wished for. A huge thank you to Massi and a great staff team. I can't recommend it highly enough. Neeleshwar Hermitage: "Superb experience of unequalled elegance and great company"

This time we decided to experience their sumptuous rice barge for an overnight stay sharing the two lux rooms with private decks with a delightful Norwegian couple we flew over with. Gliding through the tranquil secluded backwaters which was a world away from the clogged waterways of Lake Vermabad. It's a sense of the unexplploited here. We were transferred by car for a 10 minute ride. Our onboard chef,although referred to as cook, created a feast of delights and with our shared guests made dinner on on the roof deck a treasured memory.

Tugu Bali: "Aesthetic delights"

"Hotel Tugu is a different hotel than most, and for me - better. Why? I stayed in a suite, more expensive than my custom but I loved the space, the views, the lily pond below and the style of accommodation. The idea of Tugu is that it houses a collection of antique Indonesia art - which I loved - and the hotel itself is designed to be congruent with the art it houses. So you have a place with a quality of history, of character and of class - all at the same time. It is comfortable, the facilities are excellent, I ate extremely well and most noticeably, I was so well looked after by all of the staff there. I would happily return, and that is my best recommendation."

Rak Ko Jae Hahoe: "Charming and peaceful"

Although we've stayed at Japanese ryokan many times, this was our first experience of a hanok stay, and it didn't disappoint. Same warm welcome (with a cup of green tea and a wedge of apple), same simple aesthetics and same temptingly snug futon-like mattresses on the floor. What was different? The ondol underfloor heating, which was deliciously warm underfoot but if anything a little too hot for sleeping on, with the heat seeping up through the mattresses a little too efficiently. The gloriously-scented sauna experience. And the breakfast, which was a delicious vegetable-infused rice porridge, grilled mackerel, pickles and a bowl of fresh yoghurt with blueberries, nuts and dried fruits. The location is beautiful too, and so peaceful, with nothing more than birdsong and a cock crowing to break the silence. It was a little too cold to be able to enjoy the delightful private seating area on the veranda to the side of the building but in a week or two that will be a lovely place to enjoy an evening drink (bring your own!) or a morning cuppa. Thoroughly recommended

Satri House: "Like stepping back in time"

"The whole time we were staying in this hotel we couldn't help but feel we had stepped back into a past colonial era. This place is an original residence of a wealthy family and it has been so well preserved and maintained. The rooms are enormous with separate bath and toilet areas. The furnishings are original antiques mixed with local fabrics and craft wares. Totally divine. The breakfast is served in the quaint restaurant overlooking the Lotus pond and there is a very beautiful spa on site. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the location is brilliant. We were totally impressed with our stay here and when we return to LP we will certainly make this our number one choice for accommodation. Stayed January 2017, traveled as a couple"
