Rachamankha: "A zen oasis in a thriving city"
An remarkable zen experience, carefully designed and beautifully manicured grounds, surprising outside living room niches to relax and reflect, architectural brilliance, breathtaking antiques in every corner, friendly management, comfortable rooms, quiet and peaceful atmosphere, a gorgeous pool, a spectacular library. Only disappointment was the restaurant. We had some difficulty with breakfast service on the first day, but the management corrected that situation by the next day. Location is perfect. Our taxi driver affiliated with the hotel was so extraordinary that we hired him to take us on city tours for 2 days. After a day of running around, the grounds provided immediate tranquility. Would stay there as often as I could return to Chiang Mai.Inle Heritage Stilt Houses: "The highlight of our trip to Myanmar! Thank you sincerely!"
"A little gem! We loved it all: - the delightful staff, so professional, skilled and nice, will stay in our memories forever! We felt like home and all the staff deserve a LOT of credit for their hard & generous work everyday there and all the small attentions they craft everyday!! (reception, restaurant, housekeeping... all of them) - the incredible surroundings on the lake of course - the beautiful rooms, decorated with taste - the excellent restaurant - the center itself where you can walk above water, see burmese cats, an aquarium, learn how to cook, see students learning about hostellery with a free education... This hotel was the most authentic, friendly, and simple luxury experience of our whole trip in Myanmar. So happy to have spent time there and spent money for such a beautiful center & project. Thank you!! PS: if we had to mention potential drawbacks for some guests: - just be sure to know it's a small, intimate resort with no infrastructure like pool or spa (we were fine with it). - and it's in the middle of the lake so noise from the motor boats (but it's worth it!! Stayed August 2016, traveled as a couple"Rachamankha: "Elegant & beautiful, a pretty perfect south-east Asia hotel"
Two years ago I had dinner here after stumbling across it when wandering round the old town of Chiang Mai. I immediately had hotel envy and as soon as I decided to come back to CM I knew I had to stay here. I was not disappointed. The beautiful courtyards unfold before you, each one shady and alluring, housing antique furniture and prints down the side galleries, and with frangipanis and palm trees dotting the central space, one of them enclosing a lovely quiet pool, another an exquisite library. This is the kind of building you often find yourself paying to wander round, to stay here was a privilege and I loved it. Every detail here was considered and I would definitely recommend it. My only comment to the owners is that the bathrooms need some love and attention, compared to everything else it felt shabby (but in fact, it was absolutely fine and with lovely Molton Brown toiletries - it just didn't live up to the quality of the rest of the experience). Location-wise it's also great, down a small back street inside the old city walls and a five minute walk from the main temple complex and one end of the night market. I was sad to leave, you'll be delighted to arrive.Maison Polanka: "Nirvana"
Idyllic traditional Cambodian house nestled in a stunning garden in the backstreets of Siem Reap. Staff were charming and efficient and always ready with cold face towels after sweaty trips to the temples. Absolute peaceful place with no TV or ambient music, just the chirping of cicadasReverie Siam: "My three days of heaven"
While visiting my son in Chiangmai he decided to take me to visit Pai, where we stayed in this beautiful hotel. I have been very fortunate to have travelled around many parts of the world, staying in many five star hotels, but this hotel has to be up there with the very best. The rooms were beautifully decorated, clean comfortable beds, too comfortable that I didn't want to wake up! The shower was very hot and powerful, in fact ***** star. The food was excellent, so much so that we ate every meal there. The staff were first class very attentive. This is a hotel away from the buzz where you will find peace and quiet to enjoy style and comfort.Reverie Siam Pai: "Great stay – wonderful atmosphere"
"Stayed for four nights. Pai has changed a lot (compared with 2004), so we really like the quite location of this relaxing resort. Very helpful staff, good breakfast with a wonderful view and definitely enjoyed the music in the restaurant in the evening. And if you want to visit the center of Pai, don't worry, they have their own (electric) transport..."Tugu Bali: "Best man at a wedding"
"Fantastic hotel, very well run and beautiful. Grounds were so well kept. Would highly recommend for both a short and longer stay. The food was very good. Beach goes on for miles. Hotel taxi transfers to other bars/restaurants and beaches for free. "Satri House: "Best Place to Stay in Luang Prabang."
The Satri House was the place to stay even though it was much more expensive than other comparable hotels. The place was more a house than a hotel. In a way it went well with the town of Luang Prabang since two of them set the mood back by decades in time. Our group of four drove there in our SUV and spent two nights in Luang Prabang before heading back to Bangkok via Vang Vieng and Viengthein. Therefore our highlight of the whole trip was in Luang Prabang. The highlight of our activities was the offering food to Buddhist monks.Neeleshwar Hermitage: "Perfection"
Quiet, relaxed, pampered, healthy and delicious food. The rooms were extremely comfortable and clean. Wonderful little touches such as flowers on the beds and towels. Always flowers in charming stone basins around the property. Service was superb. Morning yoga jumpstarted my home practice. Perfect get away! The Island Lodge: "Beautiful stay in MeKong"
"We were picked up in Saigon and driven for about 2 hours to this hotel. It was an amazingly beautiful spot to spend 2 days and relax and explore. Husband had a wonderful massage and the pool and lobby areas were gorgeous. The whole setting is very ""Indochine"" and so well done. The staff was very attentive and tried to help with all we could ask -- The breakfast which was included was delicious and we also had dinner there as there was no where else near by to go easily. We walked around near the hotel--but it is not near any other things that are places to see. We did do their bike/boat tour to Ben Tre which was wonderful. Our guide--from the hotel--was so nice and we took a boat to Ben Tre--then biked all over the island--stopping to see different fruits, ect... and visiting pagodas and locals on the way. Ben Tre is so nice, shaded and easy to navigate with the guide. We loved this place and the owner and staff were very hospitable! Room Tip: we had gorgeous room with balcony overlooking the pool and river"
