Rachamankha: "Beautiful retreat!"
This hotel is a beautifully designed tranquil retreat situated within the old city walls of Chaing Mai. When I say beautifully designed, I mean exceptional to the extent that you can sit outside in the court yard and feel inspired by the tranquil beauty of the traditional dark wood roof, the columns and the traditional furniture designs. The only aspects which very mildly let the hotel down is the ceiling of the bathroom is white cork tiles similar to an office toilet from the 1990s. Also the shower head is about 10 years out of date, still works, it just hasn't got the the spread of any modern shower head. These are minuscule issues to point out but it's due to the rest of the hotel being so beautiful. If they did iron out these small aspects & revamp the rooms a little, then this hotel would be in line with others that cost 4 times the price. Tranquil, Beautiful & Relaxing. Escapism. A*****SEEDS Restaurant & Lounge: "Fine Dining In Yangon"
This place is run by a charming and experienced Swiss couple who clearly know what they are doing - the ambience is great the food excellent and the service is good. We meant to go back again for lunch but sadly were not able to fit it in. Well worth a visit and highly recommendedDavid’s Kitchen: "Superb! Chiang Mai’s Superior Restaurant"
"Living in Chiang Mai for part of the year, I'd heard about David's. All positive remarks, but really did not understand how truly exceptional this restaurant is. A friend took me to David's for a belated birthday dinner. I was in heaven! The setting and ambience was elegant yet very comfortable. The service impeccable! I suggest their simple field greens salad and then go for the gusto...snails, duck, pork Asian style. And! My favorite desert is Creme Brule ....it was fantastic. Yes, it is more expensive than most restaurants in CM....but we are talking 5 stars here. In my estimation nothing compares to David's ...in Chiang Mai. The Very Best! Make sure you book a day or do in advance."MesaStila: "Best Start to 2017"
"MesaStila really IS a wonderful place to stay in. My husband and I came for a short 2 nights 3 days break on the Escapism package and it was just heavenly. We live in Jakarta and coming here for a break from the city was just magical. A quick flight to Semarang from the new terminal 3 and we were met by the MesaStila car and driver at the airport. We were soon at the Resort and what a change from what we had left in in Jakarta. The air is clean, the scenery beautiful (constantly changing landscape on the days we were there with blue sky and white clouds, sometimes early mist, a brief lightning storm) and the grounds of the resort are so peaceful. We felt close to nature and yet pampered by the staff and the facilities. The Spa treatments were the best we have ever had and the attention to detail to the decor and the therapy rooms ensures a thoroughly relaxing experience. We stayed in room 204 which was a quaint villa. Styled perfectly, with a fourposter bed, plenty of seating options, a verandah to relax outside with a book, stained glass windows, old fashioned bathroom yet all the modern needs you would expect in a hotel room. We ate all our meals at MesaStila and the selection is amazing. The food was fresh, presented beautifully and so tasty. The quality was 5 star! We even managed to squeeze in a sunrise tour to Borobudur arranged by the staff. There is a long list of options of tours you can take which the reception staff will arrange for you. Thank you to the staff and management for ensuring we had a great mini vacation. We will be planning a return trip before the end of the year. Stayed January 2017, traveled as a couple"The Cabochon Hotel: "a Heaven in Bangkok"
"it is no doubt my most favorite hotel in the globe. there are anything in here which I expect for shelter escape from daily hard work, nice and beautiful building by style of old era, the high quality amenity , exotic smell from Lemongrass aromatic oil, charm of china ware , beautiful view of orchid flower ,and many many, but the best point for me, a smile , grace , warm coming from all of hotel staffs, it is friendly keeping polite manner . Cabochon it is my home in Bangkok , staffs also my family in Thailand. Room Tip: every rooms are charming , choose it by occasion ,purpose etc"Golden Buddha Beach Resort: "Paradise for our family vacation in Thailand"
"We stayed at the Golden Buddha in April for 3 nights and my only regret is we weren't there for our entire 2 week vacation. In planning our trip I was non-committal to any one place concerned we would be stuck somewhere that didn't turn out as we expected, but had I only known. Our family of 5, kids aged 13, 11 and 9, stayed in the Baan Lucy which was beachfront and the perfect distance to the clubhouse and the bay. The house was lovely but when we come back, which we are definitely doing, I may look at one of the larger houses that had a bit more sitting/lounging area. We loved staying on the beach with the sunset and the breeze, but the back houses looked lovely as well. The arrival is something our family will never forget. Golden Buddha is not easy to get to and after a 3 hour drive from Phuket and a 90 minute ride on a pretty rough long tail, we pulled into paradise. The bay is great for kids of all ages as well as the grown ups. Pizza bar, kayaks, stand up paddle boards, swimming. It is a great way to spend the day. The beach is also beautiful and swimming is very nice- soft soft sand and great shelling. The food is over the top- very local and authentic but also sophisticated. There are a ton of families at the resort, for good reason, but could possibly be overwhelming for a couple on their honeymoon, although the clubhouse has an upstairs that was more dedicated to adults. Really a top notch resort in an unbelievable location. Almost hate sharing as it seems like a hidden gem in Thailand. Such a great experience after spending time in Bangkok, Railay Beach and Phuket. Stayed April 2017, traveled with family"Rachamankha: "Serenity in the midst of the old city"
"The Rachamankha is a hotel designed in the Lanna style by one of the leading Thai architects Ong-ard Satabrandhu. In fact he still has an office in the grounds. The hotel only has 28 rooms of which two are suites. All the rooms are set around two courtyards and are tastefully done. The furnishings are antique replicas but there are real antiques dotted around the property. The hotel does not allow children under 12 and therefore there is a peace and quiet around. There is never a feeling of crowds and noise. In fact, during our 5 day stay, we hardly came across other guests other than at breakfast. The breakfast is served in the restaurant and has an outdoor courtyard. It is a la carte and very well done. It makes a change from the usual buffet mêlée. Fresh juice and lovely warm breads and pastries accompany a selection of hot breakfast choices including the traditional eggs benedict as well as noodles and rice! The breakfast staff were excellent though with the personalised service a tad slow. Food was good and well presented. The grounds of the hotel is divided into various courtyards including one for the pool. Each had a water or some architecture feature and it was tranquil for a rest. There is a library filled with antique books as well as current books and magazines that you can browse. There are a couple of PC's there and a decanter of cognac that you can help yourself to. A nice quiet spot to do some reading. The pool area is beautiful and the blue tiled pool was very welcoming with its warm water. Although there is a spa area, there is no resident spa team. They get staff from outside to come provide the spa services. The rooms are very comfortable and quiet. The bathrooms are a little tired around the edges but that seems to add to the charm. The housekeeping staff are great and as with all good properties, you get an evening turndown. The addition of a coffee capsule machine is a welcome feature and it means that you can have a nice cup of coffee in your room or take it out to the guest sitting area outside. It was my birthday during our stay and on the day itself when we got back from visiting some temples, there was a lovely card and bottle of fizz on ice waiting for us. This was a lovely gesture and made you feel special. All in all, I would recommend this hotel for it's location, facilities and staff who were attentive and helpful. A great stay and we hope to be back"Hotel Tugu Malang: "Unrivalled favorite"
If you would ask me right now what hotel in the world is your all time favorite, this would definitely be it! As far as i am concerned, Tugu has it all to make me long for a next stay. Even though it was built relatively recently it has been conceived and decorated with such taste and eye for details that it transports you back to an era when time was so much more irrelevant. In spite of its location right next to the Malang town hall, the warm tranquility of the tropical surroundings seems to pervade every single corner of Tugu hotel. Afternoon tea is offered as it would be in a local market stall that somehow miraculously appeared on the first floor amidst the colonial antiques and furniture. Not one sound of the bustling traffic outside reaches the large, impeccably clean rooms, delicately scented with fresh Jasmin flowers, guaranteeing a good night sleep. Excellent beds, a breakfast menu so extensive and varied that you'd wish you could stay forever... Ah! And let's not forget the excellent wine bar (a little minus for the bartender though, who clearly had to look up the recipes of some very common drinks on his phone). If offered the chance, do take the guided tour of the hotel and you'll be surprized by what this gem has on offer.Jing’s Residence: "Oasis in the hustle & bustle"
"We can strongly recommend Jing's Residence and the walled City of Pingyao. Pingyao is a full-on, in your face experience - the sights, aromas and sounds of an ancient city engaged in modern commerce - a special experience.. That special experience can be enhanced by staying in the centre of the walled City at Jing's. Jing's is in the thick of the action, but offers a tranquil, high quality refuge to recharge your batteries. Jing's is located in a 400 year old courtyard, tastefully renovated to offer international class accommodation with 1st class service, highly attentive staff and excellent dining. If you go to Pingyao, a stay at Jing's Residence is a must."Rak Ko Jae Seoul: "Traditional house in bustling Seoul"
"Stayed for a night in the separate house (which has 2 bathrooms) with 3 other friends. The house was well maintained and clean!Hosts were responsive and helpful. You could borrow the hanboks from the host to try on and take Instagram-worthy pictures with the traditional setting. As if you just hopped on the time machine! What we love most was the breakfast! It's ""SEOUL YUMMY!"" (So yummy, pun intended). Just by looking at the picture is enough to salivate!' It's so good that we felt all other meals we had during our trip were just so plain and average! Words can't express how good it was. You have to try it to know it! :) The location of the house is not so straightforward. It would be good if you have wifi-egg to navigate and locate using your phone! Otherwise I would advise you to get detailed directions from the host before the trip. "
