Glenburn Tea Estate: "Reminiscent of the Raj"
"I visited the Estate in May 2015 for a week with my family. The welcome drink at the airport and Break at a scenic location overlooking the confluence of 2 rivers with tea, muffins, sandwichs served in typical English style were a delight and set tone for a very different vacation. The Estate (1600 Acres, i was told) is nestled on a hill top and the view is just incredible. We managed to see the Kanchanjunga for 15 minutes on the day we came and thereafter, it remained cloudy during our stay The Food is very good, the tea is on demand (u can order any type u want.. n number of times) and the dinner is a formal sit down affair in the dining hall. They have a log house at the riverside .. the drive, fishing and food again is worth the time. For the excursions to city etc, u get a Scorpio with a driver, attendant in proper uniform who takes care of the food, water, logistics, toy train tickets, etc... u dont need to move a finger. Everything taken care of .. professionally. Visit their tea factory .. nice place to see how tea is made. All in all ... a great place to sit back, get pampered, enjoy the view, have tea and realise that you have been drinking apology of a tea all this time. Fantastic place ... great staff. Oh .. yes .. they still use cutlery from England."Inle Heritage Stilt Houses: "Best stay"
We've stayed at Inle Heritage for three nights during out trip trough Myanmar and wished to stayed even longer. Everything was perfect: nice bungalow, very friendly staff, delicious food and nice boat trips organized by the hotel. We'll be back and would recommend this hotel to everyone.Reverie Siam: "Fantastic hotel"
Everything is great about this hotel. Nice mountain view, excellent restaurant, great customer service. One of the best resorts I have stayed. Choice place to relax and chill out. Keep up the good work, Reverie Siam. Will definitely come back again.Glenburn Tea Estate: "Quintessential plantation experience through the ages"
"Nestled in a beautiful forested valley, surrounded by tea gardens and overlooking the river Rung Dung this is and idyllic location with views of Darjeeling, Sikkim and the Himalayas. Accommodation in large suites within tea plantation managers bungalow - all wonderfully decorated and furnished in mid 20th century style and with spectacular views. Meals (breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner) are all included. A rotating menu of different cuisines (including traditional Raj period meals, Bengali, Nepalese, Bhutanese and international, etc. are served. All offering multiple course, veg and non-veg options and all cooked to perfection offering exquisite tastes - some of the best food I've tasted anywhere. Plenty to do too - the tours of the tea gardens and factory (including tasting if the various teas the estate produces) taken by the manager or one of his assistants - teaches even the most experienced tea connoisseur everything they could ever wish to know about the propagation of tea, it's harvesting and transformation (different techniques) to produce white teas, first/second flush, monsoon, autumn, oolong and green teas; as well as the history of tea growing and the estate. There's also a wonderful lodge/camp on the river (about a 2 hour walk from the main bungalow); trips to Ghum, Darjeeling and Kalimpong. The entry/exit roads are rough as you drop into the valley from the main road - and it's about 2 1/2 - 3 hours transfer from the nearest airport or station - but well worth it Stayed January 2017, traveled as a couple"Manda De Laos: "Amazing setting with the Pond and great dinners"
friendly welcome, great settings of tables with lots of privacy. The menu is has lots of choices to return few times on our stay. The service has charm and they explain well all the dishes. very reasonable prices, will be coming back sure.Heritage Suites: "Still excellent"
"I returned to the Heritage hotel one year after my previous stay almost exactly to the day. It's an outstanding hotel truly qualifies as a boutique hotel This time I was given a bungalow and my reaction to this upgrade ( low season) was WOW,what amazing room the best hotel room since a stay at Amanpuri in Phuket. The size of the room is fantastic, the living room, of course the bathroom including a steam room, etc etc Outdoor showers The pictures say what I can not say in words I have a comment to make, I was told the hotel has new ownership and a new manager is soon going to arrive. I only recognized one person Mr Han I hope there's no deterioration of an amazing property I highly recommend it, best hotel on this trip that covered 5 countries in SE Asia"Cuisine Wat Damnak: "Fantastic – book ahead"
"Booked on what I read here and was not disappointed at all. Great options and flavours. Two of us - we had one of the tasting menus each so we could try many dishes. Lots of great things, each dish was well thought out and presented. Well worth a go. Wine list good and priced well. Highly recommended."LEOPARD SAFARIS-WILPATTU: "Great three days spent in Wilpattu"
"Having been on a couple of days leopard safari in Yala a few years ago...I was keen to revisit but this time away from the crowds. So we chose to go to Wilpattu. Unfortunately (and out of Leopard Safaris control) the government now don't allow camping in the national parks...so wasn't quite as special...however, still an excellent experience. We were very well looked after by Pilla and his team. The food was excellent, the tent and facilities were good and we had some good sightings. We had some great days spent in the park and saw leopard twice (once hidden and one excellent sighting), sloth bear, elephant and the usual suspects...great bird life. Thanks to the team for making our stay a memorable one and for Pilla's endurance to see leopard! "SEEDS Restaurant & Lounge: "Oasis in the middle of busy Yangon"
A stunning place in the heart of Yangon, with an impecable view towards the Inya Lake. The food is just perfection and the hosts are really nice. The only thing I could criticize would be that the table is a little bit dark.Mie Cafe: "Best Fusion Khmer Cuisine"
Highly recommended for those who wish to try fusion Khmer cuisine presented in the most honest-to-goodness way. Friendly service staff and worth to pay a visit to experience this distinctively unique taste. We will be back again!
