Rahai’i Pangun: "Great crew"
"This was my first time traveling alone, and I wasn't sure what to expect when I arrived for this portion. But I absolutely loved it. The crew was great, the guide Tri was fantastic, and the trip itself was so relaxing and interesting. We saw many orangutans in the forest (including a baby!), visited Dayak villages, and had delicious meals three times a day- and that's coming from someone who considers herself a picky eater. I absolutely recommend this tour group (and especially the boat and staff I had). I'd also suggest you go while you can- you could see gold prospecting in quite a few spots. In order for them to get at the gold, they need to burn the forest down. It also leaves large mounds of white sand along the river. It's very sad, but perhaps with an up-tick in tourism, there will be a greater push for putting a stop to this? I'd like to add while it was disturbing to see, it did not make the trip less enjoyable. Rather, it just makes me want to get more involved."Rak Ko Jae Seoul: "Traditional Exotic Hotel Perfect Location"
"My son (16) and I stayed in this traditionally styled hotel. We were seeking a 'real Korean experience' and that is what we received during our stay and didn't want to be stuck in a western hotel. We chose traditional style bedding but could have selected western style and they would have switched beds. We chose western style breakfasts and they were first class (complimentary). My son looked forward to breakfast everyday. Our washing was done everyday (complimentary), fridge in room with 4xdrinks (complimentary each day), wifi (complimentary). Aircon was fine as was the bathroom, perhaps a bit tricky for elderly to get into the bath/shower if not so nimble - we had no issues! The hotel owner Mr Kim and his staff met all our needs and requests in an instant. Only 4 or 5 groups of guests at anytime and they all received the same level of service. The hotel is just a few hundred metres from the subway, airport bus and very close to all the main tourist areas (although study map before to be sure of directions - we used iPhone maps rather than google maps as it was superior). Tourist information centres were in each tourist district and near our the subway. We ate vegetarian (and fish) and preferred to eat in Japanese styled restaurants when Korean food got a little complicated or just meat/spicy. The hotel is not far from a few 'local styled' supermarkets that are in the main tourist strip in the adjacent street/lane nearby with all the restaurants and lots of tourists. Just one of many tourist options in the vicinity. We stayed 5 nights but I think we could have achieved a great insight into Seoul in 3 or at most 4 nights max."SEEDS Restaurant & Lounge: "Fabulous"
Our last night in Myanmar (and only night in Yangon) we dined at Seeds. Lovely setting, excellent food! European prices, but beyond our wildest expectations.Cuca: "Is worth the drive…excellent Tapas"
"The food and cocktails are excellent ! Totally worth the drive. First we start with the cocktail. They are tasty and pretty to the eyes. The tapas are creative and tasty. We love the Bravas, Black squid ""risotto"". Black squid ""risotto"" is made of finely cut squid instead of rice. It is yummy and it gives a different texture as compared to normal risotto. Bravas - Tempeh with sundried tomato gives a nice taste to the usually blend tempeh. Their garden setting is nice and should the weather permit, it will be nice to dine there. Good service as well !"Rachamankha: "Our Third Stay And It Keeps Getting Better"
"The key to this 24 room gem is tranquility and solitude. The owner has this down to a science. The staff are quiet but friendly if you want them to be. The service is impeccable. The Rachamankha is an oasis of calm. Not a good venue for a family with pre teens. We upgraded to a deluxe room this time from a superior room. Was a lovely experience."Tugu Malang: "Historic and romantic stay"
"I had a very memorable stay in this beautiful hotel full of antiques. I dressed in my traditional Javanese outfit and Roberto shared with me the stories of the hotel and art pieces. We toured the spectacular Presidential Suite and all the halls and pavilions. The various rooms in the restaurant are full of amazing drawings reproducing old precious photos of prominent figures in history. Wood panels reproduces religious subjects from Asia and beyond. They all create an eclectic atmosphere of luxury and well travelled. (...) The highlight of each day was meeting Barry, Elaine and Rosemary from Australia and having tea and sweets at the hotel while chatting about travels and lives. Thank you to Roberto and John for taking care of me and would love to return again."Goldhen Budha: "Our happy place"
"We have spent 6 days at Golden Buddha in December 2015 and it has been one of the best Holiday experiences so far. The location is fantastic, the staff and the management are very friendly and the whole atmosphere is very familiar and relaxed. Food, drinks and services (e.g. Thai Massage) are great and our Baan was also stunning. Hopefully we can come back one day."SEEDS Restaurant & Lounge: "Destined to be Myanmar’s first Michelin star restaurant ?"
"Surely this must be the restaurant to put Yangon and Myanmar’s restaurants on the Michelin map! We dined in the beautiful surroundings and were truly amazed and delighted with a superb meal presented by chef Felix Eppisser and his team. In a country with no professional culinary schools, to create such an amazing menu and meal was simply incredible! We ate from the Elements fixed menu and every course was a true Star rated experience - We have been fortunate to eat in a number of Michelin restaurants throughout the last 12 months in both the UK and Italy including Le Manoir and the 3 Star il Duomo in Alba ( rated in the top 10 restaurants in the world currently)... this meal was up there with the very best! All of the staff were delightful and May our waitress and Felix”s wife Lucia looked after all guests ( and ourselves) with impeccable service. It was inspiring to hear how they are training the future chefs and service staff to capture the true essence of high quality cuisine - all being mentored and trained on site in the restaurant. When Michelin do finally find Myanmar, ( they have not yet ventured here!) I’m sure that this will be a Star contender and worthy champion for this amazing country Thanks to all at Seeds for a memorable end to our holiday in Myanmar Don’t miss the opportunity if you are in Yangon !"Maison Polanka: "A little slice of paradise"
Tucked away down a maze of non-descipt unpaved lane, the gates open, and you are in a little slice of paradise. A garden you can tell has been tended for with love and care. Traditional wooded huts on stilts that house 5 rooms. Each room is different, spacious, simple and tasteful decor. We stayed 4 nights in the Yellow Room and loved it: it's at the far end, so very quiet. Loved the lemongrass essence burning when we checked in. Windows looking out to greenery. Bed is very comfortable. The bathrooom is spacious and bright with very high ceiling and a skylight. There is a smallish but beautiful pool, we had a swim every day after a morning's sight-seeing, then lunch at the pool side restaurant. The food is delicious: my first taste of Cambodian, a bit like Thai and Vietnamese, but more delicate flavours. Dinner at the pool side is wonderful, quiet, great food, great wine, very attentive service. There is a dog, a rabbit, a cat...Don't stay in a run-of-the-mill 5 star chain, I warmly recommend Maison Polanka, it's a stay you will rememberThe Island Lodge: "Excellent River-front Boutique Resort!"
Stayed for one night, very nice hand-made decoration everywhere. Long swimming pool. The room is spacious and convenient. Very quite. Exclusive feeling. The Owner and the staff are wonderful. Ms. Ngoc was willing to help for even any smallest details. Highly recommended!.Travel Asia with Secret Retreats
