Satri House: "Perfection"
"We loved this small hotel only a ten minute walk in to town to reach the start of the night market. It is full of wonderful artefacts and curios and lovely nooks with comfy seating to curl up with a book. The junior suite we occupied was wonderful with a fabulous shower and bath and separate w.c.. The two swimming pools were lovely each with its own character. Sweet and comfy bar available and we thought the restaurant was good although we mostly ate in town. Delicious breakfasts. Charming service. The hotel was very helpful organising reservations in local restaurants too. Could have stayed much longer and definitely will return to this haven if we come back to Laos."Inle Princess Resort: "How disappointing"
"We travelled by car to the resort because our boat transfer was cancelled due to poor weather. We finally arrived at the resort down a dirt track and parked under a lean to. We were greeted by a young gentleman who said he would take us to our room. I had to ask if we were in the right place as it looked nothing like the photos on the net. He assured me it was. As we progressed, it soon became obvious that we had come in the back entrance. Our feelings went from total disappointment to one of elation. Check in was simple and efficient. Our room was clean and spacious. I could comment that there was not enough light in the room, but the intimacy it provides is all part of the charm of the place. The staff were most helpful in all areas and their genuine happiness could not be faulted. Like most of Myanmar at this stage, the SMALL imperfections in most places when compared with other 5star establishments in the rest of the world are what makes its charm. The breakfast offering is most probably a bit average but adequate. We would happily stay again and have no problem recommending it for any other couple."Mathis Retreat: "Fantastic property"

"What made our trip memorable was the personal touch by Noel Rodrigo's staff. Kudos especially to Dilanke for being a warm host. Although the Safari experience itself was not ""National Geographic channel"" standard (thankfully we managed to spot the elusive leopards), the sumptuous food and luxurious accommodation definitely made up for it. All in all, it is indeed worth the premium paid and we will strongly recommend going with Noel Rodrigo's Leopard Safaris."Rakkojae Seoul: "Ticked all the boxes for us"
"Thank you Mr Kim for a wonderful stay in your beautiful 130 year old Korean house. After visiting the National Folk Museum (15 minute walk), I felt like we were staying in one of their exhibits. Just the same – amazing. The location at Jongno-gu was perfect as we are into history so we could walk to the two main palaces, as well as Insadong. Meyongdong is just a short taxi ride away or the metro just 5 minutes’ walk. Also the Airport bus is just near the metro Anguk. There are lots of restaurants around, the difficulty is choosing which one. The underfloor heating was very warm and the beds on the floor very comfortable. The Korean bath was a unique experience to us Australians. But the most amazing part of our stay was the Korean breakfasts – both very tasty and something different every day – YUM. We used the sauna once, and it was hot, so if you are into saunas you will be very happy. We only lasted 10 minutes. The service was never intrusive, just a little hello, and someone popped out to see what you wanted. Mr Kim was always willing to help and make suggestions. Access was very easy, but you really have to phone ahead to announce your arrival to get through the front gate. We had our taxi driver call ahead and Mr Kim was waiting outside. Once you have the access code, you can come and go whenever you want. You can also pre-order dinner which we did on arrival night and we were presented with an amazing feast – really a mini buffet of Samgyetang Korean Ginseng Chicken and all the side dishes. An excellent idea after a long flight from London and transfer through the Seoul traffic. Again thank you Mr Kim and your wonderful assistant who made our stay at RakJoJae very comfortable."Inle Heritage Stilt Houses: "Best lodging ever"
"The Inle Heritage Stilt Houses lie in picturesque Innpawkhon, an hour away from Nyaung Shwe. Accessible only by boat, the friendly staff welcome you with big smiles and open arms. Such hospitality is not a coincidence. Since 2014, Inle Heritage is also a successful vocational center providing free training to eligible youth from the region and beyond. A registered NGO, it currently has 46 students aged 17 to 24 years old, living and learning on site for 10 months. But that's not all. Inle Heritage Stilt Houses also runs an exciting cat breeding project aimed at reintroducing the long lost Burmese cat to the country. Guests can visit the happy purrers at the 'cat village', an area adjacent to the IHH aquarium where endangered and threatened species of local fish and turtles were saved from over-fishing and decreasing water quality. The Stilt Houses bungalows have a fairy tale like quality, offering comfort, beauty and serenity to those looking for the ideal escape from the city. Kitchen staff will treat you to a wide range of breakfast options from traditional Shan noodles to Burmese pancakes and continental delicacies. As a provider of education, community support and nature preservation projects, the Inle Heritage Hotel is difficult to fault. And with plans to extend from 6 bungalows to 10, IHH will remain a perfect safe haven for travelers for years to come. Book yourself in soon before this well kept secret is no longer!"Tugu Bali: "A rare gem"
"I stayed at Tugu hotel with my wife and my little one and we absolutely loved it. A rare beautiful place in the middle of a lush garden. They did an incredible job to maintain this historic place. The mystique beach of Canggu is one step ahead which can be enjoyed thanks to a very convenient ""green beach deck"" to enjoyed all the facilities of the 5 stars. The service is excellent. The Indonesian food very tasty and I simply loved the surprising Japanese restaurant. We need now to test the Tugu hotel in Lombok !"Inle Princess Resort: "Perfect balance between East and West"
"We loved our two nights at the Inle Princess and wish we'd had longer. Approaching the hotel in a canoe with a local oarsman foot-rowing was the start to a wonderfully relaxing and romantic stay. It is always tricky getting the balance between traditional style and atmosphere on one hand and modern needs on the other. I think they get it just right. The hotel is a series of traditional Burmese wooden houses with verandas, tiny gardens and an additional outdoor shower cabin. We had a lakeside view with wonderful sunsets. It is all beautifully landscaped with paths (lit by small lights at night) winding through trees. There's a pool and a spa where you can get a treatment and enjoy another stunning view. To our surprise there were no insects, apparently they come with the better weather. None even around lights in the garden. August turned out to be not a bad month to go - very few tourists, no bugs and (apart from an occasional downpour) good weather. All the staff were smiley and helpful and the whole place had a peaceful atmosphere. Our room and bathroom were large. The wash area was tucked away separately so the bathroom was basically a large room with a tub in the middle. The lighting was quite dim,so anyone putting on make-up would have a challenge not looking like a painted clown. Contrarily the curtains were quite thin so light streamed in once the sun was up. Large bed was very comfortable. We only ate Asian food and it was pretty good. Stick to cocktails, forget wine. Breakfast on the terrace overlooking the lake will leave an enduring picture in my mind. I could have done without canned music which clashed with the atmosphere but I think it was only breakfast and in the bar. A day on the lake visiting floating islands and local craft-making was a delight. We had a tropical downpour and ponchos and umbrellas were immediately produced. We were on a tight schedule mixing work and holiday so couldn't have the 3 or 4 days we would have liked. For charm and a distinctive atmosphere this hotel deserves a good rating."Bassac Mekong Delta Cruises by Secret Retreats: "Amazing"
"We spent one night on bassac three which was fantastic. Having had a terrible experience in Halong Bay we were worried- no need at all. We stopped at a coconut factory which was interesting and then joined the boat the cabins were clean and comfortable with an ensuite plenty of hot water. The boat cruised down the Mekong the guide was very knowledgeable and we had a shirt tour of a local village. The food was good and drinks reasonably priced Sitting on the deck watching the local river activity was fantastic, the visit to the floating market on a smaller boat the following morning was also excellent Highly recommended , excellent staff"Rachamankha: "Beautiful hotel"
Aesthetically pleasing hotel with beautiful furniture and good location. Clean and old Thai style rooms, with a deco touch. My only complaint would be the staff attitude was a bit off occasionally. Also the bar the first night said they could serve us but we couldn't drink there, so we sat by the pool with the mozzies. The second night we came back for a night cap a little earlier than the first night and the bar was again closed at 10. I saw a few couples on both occasions wandering around obviously looking to have a drink and chill before bed.
