Tugu Malang: "One of the World’s Great Hotels"

Review by: patisson | Source: Trip Advisor
"It is rare to find a hotel where service is flawless in every detail: The Tugu Malang, one of the world's few truly great hotels, is such a place: The hotel is of such astonishing beauty and the staff are such nice hard-working people, anxious to please in every way, that the Tugu is in fact a destination in itself. If you have no other reason to stop in Malang, then do so to enjoy the extraordinary pleasures of the Tugu. The rooms are ravishing, each one with some element of art and designed thoughtfully for maximum comfort. Exotic fruits await you; the bed is turned down with a friendly note before you go to sleep. Want your shoes cleaned? They come back polished better than when they were new. Breakfast includes almost unlimited pleasures: the menu is vast and you can combine local and Western dishes. Everything is both artful and delicious and the restaurant setting is a work of art in itself. Afternoon tea is included, with an array of local delicacies, served with the ever-present Tugu charm. The hotel owner has built a world-class museum into the hotel. Seemingly endless antiques and art are fabulously displayed; and the best part is that the hotel supplies a brilliant and knowledgeable tour guide to take you round. My guide was Wahyu, who clearly loves the hotel and told me he takes considerable amounts of time to research the objects on display so as to give the best presentation. His tour was completely involving because of his intelligence and enthusiasm -- it felt like being a celebrity receiving a highly-privileged personal presentation from the head curator of a national museum! I do hope that management will recognize Wahyu's excellence and ensure his career development in both museum curating and management! Reception also has the best people: kind, knowledgeable, helpful. They can get you wherever you want in town and make any needed arrangements for you. If you'd like to visit Bromo I'd highly recommend taking the cross-desert route from Malang: it is highly scenic and also quite surreal in places. I did the trip the other way round by ojek (motorbike taxi), but you can also do it by jeep and the Tugu can make arrangements. The ability to take this mindbending route is reason enough to stay in Malang. But you don't even need that reason. The rare graciousness, fragrant beauty, opulence, detailed service and pure delight that exemplifies everything the Tugu stands for means that you should head for the Tugu if you are anywhere in the region for no other reason than to stay in one of the most fabulous five-star hotels in the world at a price for which you would get something only very ordinary in the USA or Europe. This is a best of the best, a treasure, a complete delight: don't miss the opportunity to stay there!"

Supanniga Eating Room: "Tasty"

Review by: Willy B | Source: Trip Advisor
The food that we ordered all good and tasty. The green curry is delicious and the pork meat also tender and excellent. The place is small and tend to be crowded but i think that common as many people also read good review of this place. The place is close to our stay in Somerset and easy to find.

Review by: Anky99 | Source: Trip advisor
"Went here for my honeymoon and stayed for 2 nights. Really wonderful place and one of its kind experience.. luxury and comfort with the advenutre of being right in the woods! Go here only if you love to stay away from the noise of a city. The staff was also really wonderful and took really good care of us! Thank you guys..! The only issue i had was no air condition in the tents and its very humid there so had to move to a different room which had air condition!"

Goldhen Budha: "Our happy place"

Review by: Stefan R | Source: tripadvisor.com
"We have spent 6 days at Golden Buddha in December 2015 and it has been one of the best Holiday experiences so far. The location is fantastic, the staff and the management are very friendly and the whole atmosphere is very familiar and relaxed. Food, drinks and services (e.g. Thai Massage) are great and our Baan was also stunning. Hopefully we can come back one day."

Maduzi Hotel: "Amazing Hotel, Amazing Location, so Tranqui"

Review by: Karen G | Source: Trip Advisor
Amazing location, just moments from transportation/shopping/dining, hotel is so peaceful and tranquil, it really is a respite in the busy, busy city of Bangkok. As soon as you walk in your a little more calm from the beautiful decor. We had a room A5 which has a great city view, but you can keep it nice and really dark with the wall length curtains, so we slept so well. We loved the giant bed, so much room! And of course the amazing breakfast, it really helped us start our day of touring with some great and healthy options that were delicious! The staff is so nice and welcoming, we will stay here again when we are back in Bangkok.

Villa Song Saigon: "Great riverside location away from the frenetic city centre"

Review by: Sirrah50 | Source: Trip Advisor
"Stayed for 2 nights at the charming colonial style Villa Song. Located in a rather quiet area, getting into the centre might have been a problem if not for the free river boat shuttle, which was a novel experience. The rooms were a good size, immaculate, tastefully decorated and the beds extremely comfortable (stayed as a family of 4 in two rooms). The pool looked very inviting, but unfortunately we didn't get a chance to take a dip. Breakfast was very good with a reasonable selection and the restaurant food was excellent if a bit on the pricey side, but worth it for a special occasion - A special thanks to the affable Kevin. He made us feel so welcome and his menu tips were spot on. Our final dinner was outstanding! However, all the staff were charming and very congenial. Checking in and out was easy and the help via email arranging airport transport prior to our stay was invaluable. Stayed November 2016"

Hotel Tugu Malang: "Oasis of peace"

Review by: KristaLynnB | Source: Trip Advisor
I love this hotel. It's gorgeous, quirky, welcoming and the service is impeccable. An hour before we needed to leave to visit a mosque my daughter realized her only long sleeved shirt was incredibly wrinkled. We called reception and her shirt was promptly pressed. There are too many exquisite details to list but to name a few : fresh flowers, fruit and glass bottle of mineral water in the room, beautiful lobby with koi pond and fountain, and the quickest room service ever. As a first time visitor to Indonesia, I feel somewhat overwhelmed but returning to Hotel Tugu after a busy day sightseeing is like coming home.

The Apsara Rive Droite: "Understated comfort in Luang Prabang"

Review by: expat_ord | Source: Trip Advisor
"Upon arrival at The Apsara, we were met by a very welcoming and gracious staff. And in fact, throughout our stay, they attended to all of our needs and were always very nice and friendly. The hotel itself is located just off the main street in Luang Prabang, on the banks of the Khan River. The location is perfect; just of few shorts blocks from the main downtown area and night market, but on a very quiet one-way street. The rooms are simple, but comfortable and very clean, with a colonial feel to them. However one word of warning: make sure you book a top-floor room. Our hardwood floors squeaked when we walked on them and I felt sorry for the guests in the room below ours. We only ate breakfast at the hotel (and it was always delicious), so I cannot comment on the dinners or other meals the hotel offered. Overall, we loved our stay at The Apsara and I would highly recommend it for anyone visiting Luang Prabang. Room Tip: Hardwood floors, make sure you book a top floor room"

Tugu Malang: "Superb hotel"

Review by: Fraser R | Source: Trip Advisor
"After staying at a different Tugu Hotel in Lombok I decided to stay here while wanting to visit Mount Bromo. The staff and service here as well as food was excellent! Also the Spa if you are a couple go for the couple's option of 4 hour massage treatment as it's well worth it to try out. If you are wanting to visit Mount Bromo the hotel can arrange a private Jeep to take you there and back which is great and the guide and the driver were very helpful and super polite. Certainly make this a consideration if you are visiting Malang. Just to let you know that its around 2.5hrs drive from Surabaya to the hotel which they can arrange for you too."
