The River Resort: "Many reasons to come, no reason to leave"
"We stayed in The River Resort mid July 2017, as the starting point of our Laos trip that took us up north from there. Great, nicely decorated bungalows with terrace or balcony and grand view over the mighty Mekong. Two swimming pools. A good restaurant serving a wide variety of local (and not-so-local) food. All set in a wonderful and well maintained tropical garden. Great staff that helps you with anything and more - like lending you bikes or fixing you a trip to a nearby or far-away site. Yes - the place lies somewhat remote from the obvious track; getting there needs some planning. The hotel can help you with that! Yes - nearby Champasak is a hamlet and everything is hamlet there; no fancy stores and no nightlife. You won't miss it, sitting on your balcony looking at the river and the sky over it! Yes - it's an expensive trip to those Mekong falls (some 100 kms south); once there they charge you for almost every step you take around the place. You'll forget this once you stand on a ridge watching a billion liters of Mekong water cascading down! The River Resort is not just a place to stay - it's an experience! A perfect start for a Laos trip, or as an ending as well."Villa Song Saigon: "Calm oasis"
"This hotel is a calm oasis away from the bustle of the busy city with its thousands of motor cyclists. Friendly helpful staff, a stunning building and a refreshing clean swimming pool, with delicious food (local and international) served in the garden by the river. We liked the tablet computer photos (brought to the table) of the food so we could see before we ordered - a nice touch. Stayed March 2017, traveled as a couple"Nimmu House: "a perfect stay"
"after six weeks in Ladakh: Nimmu house was the perfect place to start and to stay. Close to Leh but quiet and authentic. Beautyfull rooms in the house, preserving the style of this house. Excellent food. Most important: the staff is very friendly, helpfull and professional! A must to come back :) Andreas H. Basel, Switzerland"Maison Polanka: "Ideal base in Siem Reap"
"To us, Maison Polanka is the ideal type of place to stay. With only a maximum of 10 guests in luxuriant grounds of 6000 sq m, it provides a tranquil oasis to rest after the jostle of Angor Wat. This creates an intimate atmosphere where one gets the chance to interact with both staff & other guests. The Sala next to the pool is a very pleasant place to have a quiet dinner. Both dinners we had there and also the breakfasts were excellent. We went out to the nearby Marun Restaurant (where marginalized kids are trained to work in hospitality) because we wanted to support the cause."Rachamankha: "Amazing service and hotel!"
This hotel is absolutely amazing!! The manager, Paul, and every member of their staff went above and beyond to make our stay the absolute best possible! Would recommend this beautiful place to anyone. Close to all the great shops and restaurants Chiang Mai has to offer. Thanks to all the staff at Rachamkha!!!!The Island Lodge: "Magic on the Mekong"
What a surprise, much better than it shows on its website and booking search engines. A touch of casual elegance right on the river. French influences everywhere as you'd expect with French owners, very classy open air restaurant and lounge area facing the pool and river on one side and the garden and villas on the other. Rooms above are bright, airy and extremely pleasant. The food is great, although mostly western style. There's lots to do - cycling and boat trips, visits to local markets etc. Only two hours drive from HCMC (the hotel will arrange a car) it's a great escape from the city - a must visit for people seeking respite from the big smoke.tugu lombok: "Magical place"
"I remember we arrived at Tugu around 9pm. While checking in two families arrived. They were on the same flight we were from Singapore. Looking all around I exclaimed ""What a beautiful place!""... And the guy next to me replied ""It's a magical place!"" That's what Tugu is. A magical place. It's not a luxury place, it may not be the best hotel you've ever been! But it may very well be an experience you will never forget. We enjoyed the Villa, the different places where we had dinners, the beach, the excursion to the Gili islands and overall we enjoyed the people. Thank you for let us fell so well! "Misool Eco Resort: "We love Misool"
"This was our second trip to Misool - our first with our children in tow. Misool is a wonderful place with stunning diving and very good service. We were lucky enough to be upgraded from two water cottages for our family of five to the Utara villa, which is amazing (thank you!). There is nothing as captivating as watching baitfish launch themselves above the reef to escape predators or the bioluminescence that sparkles in the new moon of Misool. Our kids had wonderful snorkeling excursions - even our youngest (5 years old) saw mantis shrimp, sharks, sea turtles and sea snakes (required a bit of a boat ride - sea snakes require fresh water). The dive guides are wonderful. We especially love Kiikii (from our first trip), Nofi (snorkel guide) and Jemy (our dive guide this time). Uni got us advanced open certified and cannot thank her enough. I would encourage travelers to coordinate with on the ground staff to ensure your desires/hopes/dreams are understood. We had a few hiccups. we love the mission and vision of everyone at Misool. Highly recommend."Heritage Suites: "Undoubtedly one of the best hotels in the country"
"What a wonderful experience. Starting from the moment I arrived, till I left I was made to feel like I was royalty or even better. Being welcomed with a cold towel and a lovely drink was the perfect welcome after a long drive. Upon arrival the reception explained that there was going to be a party in the lobby that evening and therefore some noise transfer, hence they had upgraded me to a bungalow. And what an upgrade. This bungalow was absolutely magnificent, possessing it's own sauna and small garden. The room was comfortable and super spacious and could well have served as someone's home. The swimming pool was delightful, a comfortable temperature and the whole area was peaceful and somewhat of an oasis after a day of temple hopping. Breakfasts were of the highest calibre, with the most wonderful selection of pastries as standard, followed by orders from the menu. There was something for everyone and absolutely no way someone could go hungry. Everyday, upon returning from sightseeing, I was greeted by name and given a cold towel. It was these nice touches that stand out compared to many other luxury hotels. When I came to check out, I asked if I could use a shower on returning from my sightseeing and before my flight to London. Instead of just offering me a shower in the spa, I was offered the use of the room free of charge until 6pm that evening. I appreciate that the hotel was not too busy, but even so they did not have to do that, and it was very much appreciated. Their efforts to make me welcome will live long in the memory. Whilst I only stayed for two nights I had a fantastic time at the hotel, all capped off by the wonderful service. I could have stayed much longer."4 Rivers Floating Lodge: "A hidden gem"
We only stayed two nights at 4 Rivers Lodge but it was totally worth it and stunning! We have been very much happy with this experience! it's the best way to relax and be in contact with the nature: no wifi, phone, no TV, no computer. We spent our days cooling off in the Tatai River, phishing, kayaking, having a massage, discovering the little island in front of the resort and trying out the excellent fresh food available at the restaurant. All the tents are very private and comfortable. The shower is a gem! It was simply an amazing experience that we'll never forget! we are happy we chose this place for our honeymoon trip! so peaceful and immersed in the wildest nature of Cambodia! Also, the staff is very friendly and nice! An amazing experience!Travel Asia with Secret Retreats
