Satri House: "Warm and welcoming staff"
Initially a little complicated to understand the various buildings in this lovely garden, but everything was so conveniently located in this beautiful property and lovely garden. It felt very much like a large family house and the staff were gentle, welcoming and very very accommodating. We were lulled into the Loatian mellow style in comfort and beauty.Cuca: "BEST RESTO IN BALI"
"I can't get the phenomenally tasty food from Cuca out of my mind. The clever play on familiar foods you & I grew up eating but presented in a modern way with textures to please your palate to the moon and back. Must try items include the pulled pork pancake buns, turkey meatballs & all the desserts!! Great cocktails too. Sit at the chef's table to see the kitchen in action! Big big props to Chef Terry & his sous chef (sorry didn't get your name bro!) who are both MALAYSIAN! So sad to see our talent out of the country instead but so happy to see what great food & flavours our home grown revolutionaries serve up to people from the world over at one of Bali's top dining destinations!"4 Rivers Floating Lodge: "Simply stunning"
"My wife and I booked our trip to Cambodia a year ago. The 4 Rivers Floating Lodge came highly recommended so we were really looking forward to our stay. The pictures on the website do not do it justice. The location is stunning, the rooms are wonderful, the food is superb and the staff are some of the nicest people we have met on our trip. We went on a couple of excursions which were both great fun. The guides are very knowledgeable and ensure you have a great time. Do not miss the trip to see the fireflies. It’s only a short trip by boat but really impressive. The owners deserve a special mention for the great work they are doing with the local community. They employ a number of people from the local villages and I understand that they support a local school. I would go back tomorrow if I could. Nick & Jo"Tugu Bali: "Simply perfect!"
"We stayed at Hotel Tugu for 5 nights in April in one of the Dedari Suites (with a private pool). The second you walk into the hotel you know that you are going to have an amazing time. It is stunning and has a lot of art and statues and is very tranquil. We were given a welcome drink and orientation to the hotel and then taken to our room. We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. The rooms are enormous, have a 4 poster bed, gorgeous bathrooms with a sunken bath, shower and separate toilet. The garden area was equally stunning with a swing sofa and pool - not big enough to exercise in but bigger than a plunge pool I would say. One thing that for me really set this hotel apart was the fact that you can eat from the a la carte menu anywhere in the hotel or grounds that you choose. In addition, breakfast was included and you also order this from the a la carte menu any time of day from 7am. This was a massive bonus - too many times on holiday you force yourself out of bed to go to breakfast but we had it in our room every day and the choice available was excellent. Afternoon tea is served every day in the lobby every day. Also, if you get the chance we had one of their set meals one night and ate in the private dining room which is like a little museum full of curios and the food was incredible. The staff are incredibly friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. They can't do enough for you and were always smiling and polite. The rooms were kept beautifully clean and the Balinese massage at the spa was so relaxing my husband almost fell asleep! The location is also great. Just note that although it is set by the beach (so you can hear the waves at night) that the actual hotel is not on the beachfront and there are no sun loungers available on the sand. This wasn't a problem for us but it may be for some people. I can't recommend this hotel highly enough. It was relaxing, beautiful and interesting - just what we needed for a few days of peace and tranquillity!"Tiger Mountain Pokhara Lodge: "A space for nature"
"Tiger Mountain Pokhara Lodge manages to knit together the very best in comfort, service and food, whilst making space for nature. A difficult feat to achieve, but one that I and my mother very much appreciated. There is no forced planting of exotic, introduced flowers and tightly strimmed grass, which seems to have become the standard everywhere around the world in boutique hotels and lodges. Instead, the focus is on allowing the smaller but essential things in life to flourish, such as butterflies and solitary bees, without the average guest even knowing these wonderful insects are there. Marcus and his team recognise the importance and value of these pollinators (we would have no coffee or chocolate if it was not for insects pollinating the flowers of these plant species!) and have cleverly crafted and created an environment that allows space for all. This is an ideal place for birding, but even better if you are interested in Lepidoptera. The team's knowledge and enthusiasm is nothing short of incredible, and I am truly in awe that so much time and effort is invested in compiling inventories of what they have found there. It is clear that this is not just a passing interest, or an attempt at green-wash to enhance visitor numbers, but a genuine desire to accurately record the diversity of the lodge. Many congratulations to you all. You have achieved the trickiest of things by providing first class accommodation, food and service without compromising the location. I'm very much looking forward to my next visit. Stayed April 2017, traveled with family"Locavore: "Three hours of foodie bliss"
"We had the 7 course non vego menu and were again impressed on our third visit to this restaurant. We came from Sanur to eat here again and it was worth the journey! The kitchen maintained the excellent level of taste sensation in each morsel of the “snacks” and the actual menu courses. My only “mmm not sure” moment was the caffeine fish combination. The tomato consommé with the sorbet, the mushrooms , the varied uses of egg - could go on.... If you have the time and the money and enjoy food as an experience, go. Its around top dollar for Bali, but not in comparison to similar in Australia and Michelin rated restaurants in Europe."Supanniga Eating Room: "Excellent food and great service."
We had some really different and interesting dishes at this restaurant with the unrepeatable name for westerners. The Isan cuisine from northeast thailand has some really unique flavours and is distinct from most of the food you'll have tasted in standard Thai restaurants. The prices are high for the area but still a bargain. Service was excellent and the obligatory sticky rice with mango was delicious. Without any alcohol we spent 1,700 baht on mains and a shared pudding and some fancy fresh fruit drinks. Highly recommended.Cheong Fatt Tze – Blue Mansion: "Very educational and interesting"
"Joined one of three conducted tours of the mansion available. The guide, Ben is simply the best I have ever come across. He speaks very well. Very informative and interesting background stories relating to the life of Cheong Fatt Tze and the life of others living in this mansion before it becomes what it is today. Worth every second of the two hours spent there. Could have been even better if more artifacts of the early days are on display. Stayed March 2017, traveled as a couple"Maduzi Hotel: "Classy without the hefty price tag"
"I hate to admit but I’m pretty hard to please. When the hotel facilities are a 10/10, most often than not the price is too steep. If the price is cheap, likely there’s something somewhere that does not live up to my expectation. After my four-day stay at Ma Du Zi, I am most happy to find the perfect accommodation (in my humble opinion) and recommend it to fellow travellers who are visiting Bangkok. TLDR: price is mid-range, service is fantastic and totally bang for your buck! If you haven’t seen the pictures already, Ma Du Zi is huge – with one bedroom (full length window, goodbye claustrophobia!), king-sized bed with tons of fluffy pillows, cozy wardrobe corner, dressing table (with a portable vanity mirror!) adorned with Panpuri toiletries, and of course the much-raved about jacuzzi bath tub (with complimentary bath salt which was replenished every single day). The room also came with an espresso machine and Bose sound system so you can make your morning coffee while listening to your favourite Spotify playlist. The thing I love most about Ma Du Zi is that they go all out to please without any “unpleasant surprise”. Hungry and want to reach for that pack of chips in the mini fridge? Go for it, it’s free. Want to check out slightly later (up to 8pm I was told)? Sure, just tell them in advance. All these with a strict no-tipping policy?! I AM SOLD. Ma Du Zi is less than five minutes by foot from Asok BTS/Sukhumvit MRT and there is a 24-hour convenience store just across the street. Class, comfort and convenience - Ma Du Zi is now at the top of my list next time I visit Bangkok."Mume: "Deserved a place in Top50 in Asia!"
A must try when in Taipei, friendly staff and food cooked and presented to perfection! Was impressed on the execution of techniques, blend of flavours and its casual atmosphere.
