MesaStila: "Number 1, 2 and 3 on my list"
"Breathtaking. Wonderful room with wonderful views. Great staff. Wonderful dinner and breakfast. Not too many guests, which we did not mind. Mother and sister went for a couple of treatments at the spa and were impressed. Brother and I had a 06.30 trailrun with our guide Augus, probably the best morning of our holiday!"Rachamankha: "Zen Hotel"
We loved our stay at Rachamankha. As others said, it felt like you were in a secluded location when you were actually right in the heart of old town Chiang Mai. Paul, the manager, is too good for words. He found out we were on our honeymoon...at our next hotel in Krabi, we had a package waiting for us in our room one night. It was a custom piece of artwork, with both my and my wife's names written in thai, and a personal note from Paul thanking us for staying at the hotel. We would absolutely stay here again without a 2nd thought.Glenburn Tea Estate: "Amazing Location"
"We stayed in 'the bungalow' which was beautifully decorated and extremely comfortable with the added bonus of wonderful scenery. The food and service in our own delightful dining room in front of a roaring log fire was perfect. The only major downside is the TERRIBLE access to Glenburn. I live in the country down an unmade up track and have a 4 X 4 to cope with our own tracks and lanes however, the 10 kilometre track that takes an hour each way (I was highly amused to see another review claiming it takes 30 minutes, this would only be possible if they flew!) to Glenburn is worse than 'challenging', it can only be likened to a steep dried up ancient river bed! My husband and I both suffer with arthritis and this journey very nearly killed us off. Such a pity as otherwise everything else was perfect!"Samanea Beach Resort & Spa: "Excellent stay, highly recommended, amazing staff!"
Highly recommended resort, rooms very comfy and spacious, outdoor shower, nice pool. The staff is amazing, always ready to help and bring drinks/fruit. Restaurant excellent, very tasty food! Very peaceful and quiet.Noel Rodrigo’s Leopard Safaris: "The highlight of my trip"
"Noel and Cecile were fantastic hosts and the whole experience at the campsite was wonderful. The staff are really friendly and everyone works so hard to make the experience memorable. The tents are thoughtfully equipped with everything that you need including a torch, mobile phone, fans, electrical sockets and ear plugs for when the jungle gets noisy at night! The food is delicious (best I had in Sri Lanka) and I loved the fact that everyone ate together around a big table so you got to know your fellow campers. The safaris were brilliant and Noel accompanied us on the morning drive and shared his extensive knowledge about the animals and their habitat. It was very exciting getting up at 4:45am and driving off through the semi-dark to the jungle! All in all it was a brilliant experience and I can't speak highly enough of this place. I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone else who is thinking of visiting Sri Lanka."Muang La Lodge: "Comfort in Northern Laos"
"This was our second trip to Laos and we decided to go further afield to the northern part of the country to trek and explore the region. The Muang La resort was a very welcome refuge in an area that has really not seen considerable investment in tourism infrastructure. The resort is all inclusive and does a very good job looking after its guests. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and offer up nice views of the river and mountains. Our three days of trekking were organized by the hotel. Each day was a discovery, and while strenuous, our hiking took us up mountains to remote villages inhabited by Khmu and Hmong. We also visited jungle waterfalls, local markets, temples and rice fields. Our guide was terrific and he gave us access to places I'm sure we would not have been able to discover. After a challenging day of hiking, it was great to get back to the hotel, soak in one of the hot tubs fed by a natural spring, have a swim in the pool, accessed by a bridge suspended across the river, and play with the adorable baby monkey adopted by the hotel staff. The food at the hotel was very good - with diverse choices available, including both Laotian and foreign food. The hotel provided us with packed lunches for our treks, typically a rice or noodle preparation wrapped in banana leaf, accompanied by local fruits. There are nice walks to do right from the hotel -- crossing the river in the nearby town and wandering into the local villages on the opposite bank is interesting, and the return to the hotel side can be done on a river raft built from bamboo by one of the local farmers. The hotel plays an important role in the local community, providing employment and management and language training to the local population. All staff, apart from the hotel director, are Laotian. I'd highly recommend this property for a visit to this part of Laos. It's well worth the 5 to 6 hour drive from Luang Prabang, through breathtaking scenery, especially on the stretch from Pak Ou. Heading back to Luang Prabang, we took a river boat for part of the journey, again arranged by the hotel. Pack good walking shoes, an adventurous spirit, and a curious mind and you will love the Muang La resort and all it has to offer."Satri House: "A very special place"
"We stayed here for 3 nights ( A group of 4 in 2 luxury rooms ) The staff were.delightful and could not do enough for us. The rooms were large, spacious, spotless and very comfortable. During 17 nights in Asia, this was definitely our favourite property and we would not hesitate to recommend it to fellow travellers. Room Tip: Choose 2nd floor as noise travels on wood floors"Cheong Fatt Tze – Blue Mansion: "A unique experiece"
The Blue Mansion was a wonderful, unexpected experience, a beautifully restored house with a calm and quiet environment. Large comfortable room, good choice of breakfasts and delicious food and good service in the Indigo restaurant. It is well worthwhile doing one of the tours to learn about the fascinating history given by a very entertaining Chinese lady. We found all the staff without exception to be very friendly and helpful, but in particular Shirley (I think that was her name) who gave us lots of advice of where to go and what to do which we did - the street art in Georgetown, markets, restaurants, Penang Hill and Battu Ferringai, nothing was too much trouble. Thank you for a very different few days, we haven’t stopped talking about theBlue Mansion.Neeleshwar Hermitage: "Beautiful & Relaxing"
My new Wife and I visited Neeleshwar Hermitage on one of the last legs of our honeymoon (November 2014). After a hectic few weeks our stay here was much needed! On arrival we were greeted by such friendly staff who throughout our stay were always very helpful and saw to our every need. I honestly can't fault the service. The whole resort is very beautiful and tranquil and the accommodation was amazing. We absolutely loved the bathroom! :D The restaurant was wonderful and so was the food! We really loved our time there and would certainly stay there again. To top it off they send me a birthday card every year. I received the latest one in the post today! Thank you to all at Neeleshwar Hermitage for making our stay and our honeymoon perfect. Chris & Lori.Cuisine Wat Damnak: "Very special meal with great food, cocktails and service"
"We weren't impressed by the food in Cambodia with the exception of this meal, which we would love to revisit again and again! Thankfully for the prices (high by cambodian standards but low by international standards) this would actually be feasible!) The food: - Was outstanding, with lots of attention to detail and fresh ingredients! - Everything we ate was unusual and interesting with tons of different components and very involved preparation. Each dish was unique in its own way and delicious! - They have a set menu but it doesn't feel limiting because you can choose between two meal options as well as a vegetarian menu - The cocktails were incredibly delicious and there was a huge variety to choose from! The service: - Was wonderful with very attentive staff who made sure that we were enjoying everything and understood what we were eating and drinking. They brought out very cool little interesting fruits for dessert after our meal which we really enjoyed!"
