The Cabochon Hotel: "Very good hotel"
This hotel is beautiful and the staff is very helpful and friendly. We've stayed 2 nights in Bangkok, we'd definitely come back to Cabochon. Amazing building and unique interior, very clean, good breakfast, great location; all details are perfect. Definitely recommend to stay in this hotel!Amata Lanna: "Gorgeous boutique hotel"
"We were moved here as they needed to check the electric shower in our other hotel. It is a gorgeous boutique hotel very beautifully decorated in old Lanna style Thai decor with ornate wooden features . The staff are very welcoming and you are warmly greeted and offered a welcome drink in the small reception area. The rooms are all set around a pool and there are lots of little seating areas and a cute little path over a pond to the toilet. The room itself was decorated with plush Thai fabrics, wooden artefacts and had a beautiful, huge bathtub, where you could enjoy a candlelit bath. I loved bed that the bath and shower products were in pot bottles with stoppers instead of plastic and there was a cute little elephant soap dish with an elephant soap inside. The location is close to the hustle and bustle and near the nightmarkets but the hotel offers a tranquil respite from all the noise. It was lovely to sit outside at night as the lights from the pool and the garden made it very peaceful. We had to leave for an early flight to the airport and the staff arranged a taxi and for mango sticky rice and coffee delivered to our room before we left. I would definitely stay here again."Glenburn Tea Estate: "Pearl surrounded by tea bushes"
This hotel doesn't only welcome you at their doorstep, but already at the airport of Bagdogra: the driver offers you a cold drink and wet towels to get you set for the three and a half hours drive to the estate. On the way, you are offered real Glenburn tea, sandwiches (which we really liked) and cake. How English. The trip to the hotel is a long one and the last 45 minutes are like sitting in a blender. But it is all more than worth it: the setting of this hotel is absolutely gorgeous: the tea plantation surrounds the beautiful house and the view on the Himalaya is stunning. We were warmly welcomed by the English couple who manage the hotel on behalf of the Calcutta-based owners and they do an excellent job in making certain the guests are comfortable. We stayed in the old property in a spectacular room with a huge bed, fireplace and small garden room (it was, indeed, the room we requested. In advance they would not confirm the room to us, and to be hones, considering the price this hotel charges, we find it incorrect that they should not accept reservations for specific rooms). All service you could think of is included in the price. We love the 'bed tea': a serving of tea in your room just after you wake up. Also, it was quite a treat that you could ask for tea and cake at all times of the day. The (western) breakfast is good, but the homemade jam was more like a mash than a jam. The specials were delicious and also the homemade muesli (with home made yoghurt). The dinner was served on a large table with all guests (you can opt out, and have a private dinner). Although this sometimes takes a bit getting used to, we enjoyed talking with the various guests. The food was mostly delicious, but there were some misses here and there. The hotel is quite a distance from Darjeeling and Kalimpong, but the hotel can arrange your visit there, too (driver is included in the price). Having said that, the trip is quite long and we were content with visiting only Darjeeling on one day, and we spend the rest of our time reading, touring the tea factory (including tasting: amazing how different all the teas taste), making walks through the tea plantation and to the river (where the hotel organized a pleasant BBQ. Heed their warning to put DEET on. I forgot a spot on my arm and the small flies got me good; it itched for days after!) They have wifi in the hotel, but the connection is terrible. It is typically a location to relax after an exhausting trip through Nepal, Bhutan or India, so we would recommend staying at least three nights; a shorter stay doesn't seem worth the trouble. We would not be surprised if we found ourselves staying here again!Tugu Malang: "Wonderful Heritage Hotel"
"This is a 5 star hotel and more on the expensive side. We stayed here two nights and were very content. The reason we decided to stay here was because they have a room that the first president of Indonesia, Sukarno, used to stay in. You can see his room on request. They also have a lot of historical indonesian objects on display like a full gamelan set which you also get to play, an original tea room with complimtary teatime and snacks, breakfast was included and you have the choice between continental breakfast and indonesian breakfast (both are excellent). Our room was pristine with crisp linen sheets and has ac. The shower and toilet is outside and feels very exotic with all the plants. On your arrival you get a complinentary drink and fruit. The staff is very friendly and help you with anything you need. What we especially liked about the hotel was that all the packaging wasn't plastic. They used natural material. We would definetely stay here again if we could."Tugu Bali: "Privileged Experience – this is not a hotel, this is a magnificent passion"
I have just returned from a magnificent adventure at Hotel Tugu. I relucantly handed the GM my sword room key as she waved me out the door. I'm not sure what to say, I have travelled to Bali with my grandparents since I was a kid in the 70's and for me the hotel bought back all those fond memories. Tugu is for connecting to the real Bali and I felt privileged to be able to experience it. This is a not a hotel, this is a special place, built by a special man and run by special people. Architecture, culture and history preserved. I felt like I was leaving my second home..... I cannot thank you all enough.Sukoon Houseboat: "serene"
the staff is very courteous. the location of the houseboat is great as you get the best view with not many houseboats around. the food is excellent. the housekeeping is at its best. i could let me 10month old baby crawl around. the mattress in the suite was uncomfortable at the edges. one could easily fall down. the wood work and furniture is beautiful and well maintained. they dont serve bottles water and only serve RO water which to me was a problem. The Island Lodge: "Total relaxation"
"Stayed here near the beginning of our Vietnam holiday, having spent the first 2 nights in HCMC, and it was a perfect place to relax and acclimatise to the new time zone. All the staff were really attentive and welcoming, and there was a very relaxed vibe about the place. It was a nice touch for the owners to welcome us personally on our arrival. On our departure, they also thanked us for staying and gave us a little gift of some chocolates, which was much appreciated. We loved the food - the menu was varied and interesting and also reasonably priced. It was also enjoyable to sit in the restaurant and look out over the continuous activity of the river. As we were there for 2 nights, we were able to do several of the activities on offer, including the bike ride along the fish farm trail. We absolutely loved this, and a special thank you must go to our guide, Khai, who proved a lot of fun and was able to tell us lots about the area. We also enjoyed the pool and the gardens. We shall certainly be back here, as we're already planning our next holiday to Vietnam, and this would make a good stop either at the beginning of the holiday or at the end, particularly as they offer transfers to and from the airport."Mathis Retreat: "Love this place!"
Visited for the 2nd time. And still love this place! Really small boutique feeling with all you want in holiday. Nice rooms, nice breakfast, nice staff, nice pool and perfect rice paddy view! Definitely would recommend to my friends. The Hue House: "Excellent service and food"
This was my first visit to Ho Chi Minh and been to this restaurant 3 times for dinner during my stay of 5 nights there. The food was fantastic, price reasonable, excellent and friendly service from crews especially crew name Anh Phuc. My family has good time here. Appreciated. Definately will visit again on my next trip.David’s Kitchen: "In a league of its own"
"My title says all! I simply cannot speak highly enough of David's Kitchen, this is a MUST do in Chiang Mai. My partner and I ordered the set menu to celebrate my 30th birthday. This allowed us to try Davids most signature dishes and we weren't disappointed!! The food, service and personal touches were absolutely splendid. Many reviews note their personal experience with David, and yes this is fabulous but I would also like to mention the amazing unity the entire team have to ensure your experience is like none other. I only wish there were most restaurants like this in the world!"
