4 Rivers Floating Lodge: "Otherworldly"
"This hotel has been covered extensively, and for good reason. We stayed for four nights during our honeymoon, and even though we stayed at truly luxurious hotels, 4 Rivers was a real highlight. You take a boat about 25 minutes to floating wooden platforms with about 15 tents set up. The rooms are well appointed (nothing special), but you're there for the surroundings. Our bodies got accustomed to waking up with the sun and going to sleep when it got dark. We enjoyed taking the sunset cruise at the end of the day, and exploring the mangroves in kayaks. The staff, especially Rambo and Bono, are delightful. It was here that we fell in love with Cambodia. My only complaint is that food was bad (not authentic). Stayed December 2016, traveled as a couple"Dewakan: "Innovative yet true to its Malaysian heritage"
Dewakan can easily beat some of the Michelin starred restaurants hands down. Chef Darren's creativity with local ingredients, whilst staying true to his Asian roots and elevation in the composition of both in every single dish is remarkable to say the least. Don't skimp or worry bout your diet or whatever - just go for the 10 course dinner. You won't regret it!Slow Villas and Spa: "Absolutely wonderful stay"
The minute I walked in, I felt relaxed. It was quiet and peaceful. The villa was well equipped - I did like the outside bathroom too! Room was very comfortable and it was good that water was provided for drinking. Breakfast was good, and a great start to the day sat by our pool. We enjoyed our massage in the new spa too. It was easy to get around the island with the bikes provided. Staff were super helpful over booking our transfer back to Bali too. Loved the private pool and sun loungers - felt so relaxed by the end of our stay! I wish we could have stayed longer. Thank you!Supanniga Cruise: "Probably the best stylish dinner cruise in Bangkok!!!"
"Love the cruise design, so chic and stylish. Not way traditional Thai like other cruises. I especially love the lounge area at the front of the boat where you can chill, sip champagne, and enjoy Bangkok's nighttime river view. For the food, it comes with 6-course authentic Thai food and a glass of Taittinger champagne as a welcome drink. And I must say the taste is really Thai, unlike some other cruises that compromises way to much to suit foreigners' palate. The service is top-notch, very attentive and friendly. The cruise manager, Khun Joe, is the real gem. He helped us taking pictures and we loved the wine he recommended. All in all, a must do if are into river cruising."Labyrinth: "Impeccable service and delicious roast pork!"
The great service started even before the dinner when they called to check if we were going for a theatre program (we were). We enjoyed the roast pork and risotto and the chili crab dish was excellent as usual. Desserts were a little too sweet for our taste (maybe it’s just us). But the sweetness was balanced by the tea offered by the wait staff who was considerate enough to notice that we still had time before our theatre program.Tugu Bali: "Exquisite beauty and great service"
"We were given a welcome drink and then escorted through beautiful grounds to room 209, an upper- floor Renjang Suite which was huge and featured a four-post canopy bed with carved wood, a beautiful hammered metal tub (a common Tugu Hotels feature) on an enclosed porch with views to the Indian Ocean and much more. The room was done throughout in beautiful wood and felt very cosy. The ceiling must have reached 20 feet at the top of the vault. Two Aircon units in the room kept the Bali heat in check. The bedding was very comfortable and in the serene setting with the sound of the waves out the windows we slept very well. The lighting was too dim for reading in bed, so bring your clip- to- the- book light if that matters to you! There were separate rooms for the shower and for the toilet. There was a lot of closet space and plenty of room for our luggage. Breakfast was a la carte and had a nice selection. The black rice was excellent, more or less a pudding, with coconut milk, delicious. Their omelets were tasty, too. There was delicately smoked salmon on their equivalent of soda bread, a very successful combination. The front desk, the bar, the restaurant tables and a large stage all share a big space under a vaulted roof. There was a cultural evening on our Thursday evening, no charge, and it was great. The statue of some winged beast at the back of the stage is impressive. The hotel is a showplace of various Indonesian works of art and is worth visiting just for that reason. The hotel puts chairs on the beach for guests and there’s also a lawn with beach chairs. You can order dinner and drinks on the lawn. The beach walks were great. There are lots of surfers to watch, and there are bars all along the beach in case the hot sun makes you thirsty… There were plenty of bars and restaurants all up and down the streets, too, but from what I saw between the hotel and the airport, there are restaurants and boutiques nearly everywhere in Bali, some in the least likely places. Be sure to agree taxi prices before you go anywhere as they will rip you off if you let them. Our first and only experience with this ended well because the Tugu’s porter came up to the taxi when he saw me disagreeing with the driver, and when he heard the driver’s demand he told the taxi guy to take what I offered and buzz off. After that, we were careful to agree beforehand. The location seems to be good, although this was my first trip to Bali and I do not have anything to compare it to. It takes about an hour to manage the 22km from the airport. At the end of our stay, the staff prepared a nice basket of fruit and chilled water to snack on in the car to the airport, and they all came out to wave goodbye, a very nice touch. We will certainly stay at the Tugu on our next Bali visit.
"As the location is quite far out from Kuching we decided to rent a car from the airport which made more sense and was cheaper then taxi's/organised trips. It was a little hard to find when you arrive as the place has no signs. However the location on google maps is correct it just does not look like it. The whole place is stunning. The pool is great, staff are friendly, well decorated, rooms are lovely and the food was delightful. We had the 7 course tasting menu which is expensive for Kuching but the flavours were delicious. They laid the table beautifully with flower petals and it was a really nice way to spend the evening with my partner. They have a selection of wines too. It is nice to stay somewhere which is in a local village and off the tourist trail. They have clearly thought about the place and we could not fault it. The beach is nice to see but the water is dirty and there is not really anywhere to walk too. We only stayed 2 nights and one day we drove to Bako and the other we stayed around the pool. We then stayed two nights in Kuching to be closer to the Orangutans which we visited twice. A must stay place if you are in Kuching and want to get away from the city."Cuca: "Stunning – Bali at its best"
This is worth the visit no mater how far u need to travel. Try and sit at the bar and watch the staff cooking preparing with loveSamanea Beach Resort: "Absolutely Perfect"
"Wonderful hotel, we extended our stay from 2-4 nights. The grounds are beautiful, large swimming pool and set on the ocean accessible by private jetty. The rooms (or suites) were spacious, exceptionally clean, with gorgeous and comfortable 4 poster beds with mosquito nets. The barroom is again spacious, the big surprise was the large adjoining outdoor area with open shower and oversized round rock bathtub. The rooms had adjoining outdoor areas with comfortable chairs and table were you can relax or dine also included a hammock. The staff were wonderful, would bring our meals and drinks to the beachside cabanas or while we were swimming in the pool. Food at the restaurant was good quality and they made excellent coffees. My only suggestion would be some stand up paddle boards or kayaks as the water was so calm it would be perfect. Whilst at the higher end of the hotel market in Kep, price was very reasonable. A place suitable for all travellers, families, couples and friends also solo if your looking for some serenity."
