The Village House: "Best homestay in Kuching, Sarawak"

Review by: msbel2012 | Source: Trip Advisor
"Approximately 40 mins from Kuching International airport to The Village House (taxi ride is about MYR60/ car). This place is a total gem, very well hidden (no kidding as there's nothing much to explore around this homestay except for a quiet beach). If you're going for a short weekend to relax & chill with friends or couple, then this would probably be the best choice but if you're thinking to have a party there, maybe not unless you've pre-booked all their rooms! Food and drinks (Tiger/ Heineken beer per bottle is about MYR15 each) are available from morning till 10:30pm at night only (so pre-ordered your food/ drinks before they closed). Staff will clocked off after 10:30pm (Bar/ Cafe will be closed) but 1 of the staff who's staying next to this place is easily located incase of any emergency. I must say their sandwiches & Nasi Goreng Kampung is amazing but Potato wedges (do not try this if you're a big fan of wedges!) & Sarawak Curry Laksa definitely needs some improvement. Prices are affordable. (You can have your food billed to your room & make payment only when you check-out. Visa/ Master card accepted but with 3% surcharge incurred. AMEX not acceptable unfortunately). Rooms & bathroom (attached) are very clean and the air-condition can get pretty strong if you've it switched on the whole day (warning!). The only problem is they've very thin walls if you do not want to be heard by next door or anyone downstairs! They've extremely helpful and attentive staff here named Ms.Aliffah and Flora as they've helped us get our missing mobile phones (left it near the pool area at night), call and arrange our transportation. If you're not a local like me, you can even get some travel tips from them! The nearest sightseeing place is Sarawak Culture Village which is about 10 mins drive away (Daytime transportation is about MYR5/ way by car). If you want to explore downtown city centre, it'll be about 30 mins car ride (that'll cost you MYR60/ car per way). Do ensure you make prior transportation arrangement with the staff as there's seriously no transportation available there. I'm already missing this place and just can't wait to be back!"

Noel Rodrigo’s Leopard Safaris: "A fantastic stay with great wildlife sightings and incredible food"

Review by: electricsparky | Source: Trip Advisor
"We recently had a fantastic 4 night stay at Noel Rodrigo’s Leopard Safaris. Sam was our guide and he looked after us incredibly well and took us on some fantastic game drives where we saw leopards on 4 out of 7 drives and we also saw a sloth bear on the final drive! The park is also full of peacocks, spotted deer, crocodiles, elephants, water buffalo, wild boar and a superb array of birdlife plus lots of other interesting species. Sam was a passionate guide with incredible knowledge of all the animals and birds in the park and he was a safe and skilled driver. Our days started with an early wake up with a quick tea/coffee before setting off to Yala National Park to be ready when the gate opens at 6am to look for the wildlife while they are still active. The park is gate is around 20-30 mins drive from the camp. Morning drives last approx. 3 hours before returning for breakfast. Lunch was at around 1pm after which we left for the afternoon drive at around 2:30pm. The park closes at 6pm and we would have drinks before dinner at around 7pm. The food served at the camp was absolutely delicious, authentic Sri Lankan dishes with a fantastic variety each day for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Spice levels are adjusted to your requested level (so don’t panic if you are not good with too much chilli!) and wine, beer & spirits are all included. We spent our first two nights in a mobile tent, with an insect proof sleeping area containing a double bed, bedside table with fan and light and power socket for charging batteries. In living area of the tent there were two camping chairs and table a cupboard and a light. Just outside the tent was a flushable toilet with a light and in a separate tent a shower which would be filled with hot water before our return from the afternoon drive. For our second two nights we were upgraded to one of the two luxury tents, which has air conditioning and an attached bathroom and it much larger. The plan for the camp is to eventually upgrade all of the tents to the luxury style and I am sure they will prove very popular, it was very comfortable. Thank you so much to General Manager Sajith for the upgrade! They are also in the process of building a swimming pool which will be a most welcome addition to the camp. We had a brilliant time at Noel Rodrigo’s Leopard Safaris and would definitely return. The great conversations with all of the staff during drinks and meals, the outstanding food, the service from the whole team and the exciting game drives made for a wonderful stay and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend a stay here."

Bassac Cruises: "Not too big, not too small, just right for couples – highly recommend"

Review by: E K | Source: Trip Advisor
My wife & I were running out of time and only did a 2 day/1 night but we were glad we did the Bassac Mekong Cruise (we were on Bassac II) . BestPriceTravel organised a lovely guide Annie and we were so very pleased with the boat quality, the crew service and Annie's informative talks (Annie spent college years in Melbourne - so a good english speaker). The boat looks older but inside it is very modern and although the rooms are small, these are more than enough for a 1 or 2 day cruise as ideally, you will be up on deck watching the interesting Mekong river activities, waiting for an excellent dinner. We stopped of in a village, did a floating markets and a land market and a couple of candy factories. I'd taken several pens and paper 'packs' in ziplock waterproof bags to distribute to young ones and Annie help pick a some candidates that were less fortunate and even convinced the guy driving the boat to pull alongside a floating market trader - the smiles from the children and their mums were worth all the effort of taking and giving. We had based ourselves in Saigon and although the drive to and from the Mekong was a few hours each way the journey was worth it. Great food, educational, and some really interesting sights.

Villa Song Saigon: "Beautiful Hotel"

Review by: nigelwelch | Source: Trip Advisor
"We had a great stay here. The best bed we have ever had in a hotel.A lovely tranquil place on the river. Very friendly staff, nice rooms and public areas. Excellent breakfast and dinner. In district 2 about 30 mins from the centre of town. Regular free boat service in to town. A perfect place to stay just a little way from a very busy, noisy and bustling city. Would love to go back "

Babe: "Food with a view"

Review by: Dechen Y | Source: Trip Advisor
This place is food divinity! The waiter offered me for trying the lamb chop. Uhmmm no words required, the lamb was very tasty!!! So juicy and tender. This place serves Japanese tapas with a mix of western Japanese. The food prepared here was something I had not seen elsewhere and was delicious. The staffs are very nice and the seafood are very fresh as some of their ingredients are flown in from Japan. I love the atmosphere where you dine next to the swimming pool. The dim lights, the seats and the magnificent view gives thus place two thumbs up.

Neeleshwar Hermitage: "Peace, Tranquility & Comfort."

Review by: shirishnv | Source: Trip Advisor
"My title epitomises Neeleshwar Hermitage. This was our 3rd visit & it was as good or better than the previous 2 visits. For absolute peace, tranquility & as a stress buster from our hectic schedules Neeleshwar is the place to go to. The rooms are big & spacious, the bathrooms even bigger & a nice clean swimming pool. To add to this you have the beach & ocean right at your doorstep.... what more can one ask for. This beautiful resort is located 15mins from Bekal fort & a 2 hr drive from Mangalore in the quiet town of Neeleshwaram. Now coming to the staff, Jayan & his team have perfected the art of being perfect hosts. Hospitality oozes from them & they are ever smiling. The food has improved a lot since our last visit & they have more variety of dishes. Shashi & his team are willing to satisfy your taste buds. Basically 5 Stars to all the support staff.... Melbin, Rajitha, the head chef to name just a few. Thanks to all of them for making our trip memorable. Getting to see the Theyyam ritual was a added bonus."

Tugu Bali: "Can’t keep the secret"

Review by: colyngardner | Source: Trip Advisor
"My wife and daughters spent a few days at the Tugu in 2015 and could not wait to return again, this time with me. They were right to be so positive. The hotel lives up to all expectations with lovely traditional Balinese style rooms with many novel and attractive features. The exclusive hotel garden provides direct access to the beach and uninterrupted views of the sea and the stunning sunsets. A very short walk along the beach leads to some friendly and pleasant beach bars serving a range of food and drinks. A good tip would be to plan a visit soon as the Canggu area is developing quite quickly as more people discover this lovely section of the west coast. Finally, a word about the staff at Tugu. A very special group of people who work very hard to ensure that the guests have a perfect stay. All in all a very high recommendation for those who do not want to stay in large and impersonal hotels in the more well known Bali tourist areas. "
