The Village House: "Love The Village House!"
"We have been to the Village House a few times. We keep going back because it is the perfect place to take in the Sarawak vibe. Beautiful rooms, great food (must try the Taste of Borneo tasting menu), but most of all a great group of people that run the place. We always feel at home and amongst friends while we are there. They can help you plan a day trip or a major excursion up the river to a long house. All in all, The Village House is a 10 out of 10. "Muang La Lodge: "Comfort in Northern Laos"
"This was our second trip to Laos and we decided to go further afield to the northern part of the country to trek and explore the region. The Muang La resort was a very welcome refuge in an area that has really not seen considerable investment in tourism infrastructure. The resort is all inclusive and does a very good job looking after its guests. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and offer up nice views of the river and mountains. Our three days of trekking were organized by the hotel. Each day was a discovery, and while strenuous, our hiking took us up mountains to remote villages inhabited by Khmu and Hmong. We also visited jungle waterfalls, local markets, temples and rice fields. Our guide was terrific and he gave us access to places I'm sure we would not have been able to discover. After a challenging day of hiking, it was great to get back to the hotel, soak in one of the hot tubs fed by a natural spring, have a swim in the pool, accessed by a bridge suspended across the river, and play with the adorable baby monkey adopted by the hotel staff. The food at the hotel was very good - with diverse choices available, including both Laotian and foreign food. The hotel provided us with packed lunches for our treks, typically a rice or noodle preparation wrapped in banana leaf, accompanied by local fruits. There are nice walks to do right from the hotel -- crossing the river in the nearby town and wandering into the local villages on the opposite bank is interesting, and the return to the hotel side can be done on a river raft built from bamboo by one of the local farmers. The hotel plays an important role in the local community, providing employment and management and language training to the local population. All staff, apart from the hotel director, are Laotian. I'd highly recommend this property for a visit to this part of Laos. It's well worth the 5 to 6 hour drive from Luang Prabang, through breathtaking scenery, especially on the stretch from Pak Ou. Heading back to Luang Prabang, we took a river boat for part of the journey, again arranged by the hotel. Pack good walking shoes, an adventurous spirit, and a curious mind and you will love the Muang La resort and all it has to offer."Manda De Laos: "Amazing"
What an amazing venue. Such an experience to eat fantastic food in such stunning surroundings and for less than Michelin star dining in London. Beats any restaurant I have been in by far. Cannot wait to go back there.Dewakan: "interesting restaurant"
Restaurant trying to create not replicate. very refreshing, very affordable as its set in an educational building.Le Du Wine Bar & Restaurant: "Awesome fine dining in Bangkok"
"I managed to get a reservation here during a recent business trip to Bangkok. The restaurant was also incredibly accommodating to my schedule as I wasn't sure when I was going to land and get through the airport so I booked it for late, but they were willing to let me arrive earlier than my reservation. The restaurant is small and intimate though the tables were quite spread out so one could still have some privacy during dinner. Most of the patrons though were foreigners though one thai couple did come in during the night. The chef could be seen working closely with his team in the back and more often than not, would also come out to the serving area where another crew of 3-4 chefs would finalize the various dishes. Lots of people would ask to take pictures with the young chef (next time I will as well). I had their four course menu as I wasn't feeling super hungry and I was happy. I wouldn't have been able to eat the full chef tasting menu (six courses which a near by table ordered). I ordered a white and then a red glass of wine and again it was perfect for me. In the end, I was completely stuffed and very impressed with the quality of the food. It was a mix of thai mixed with western style preparation that just blew me away. I would come back here next time I am in Bangkok. One interesting note, I originally thought my server was from the US as she had what appeared to be a strong American accent, but it turned out that she had studied at a local international school which I guess were taught by American professors."The Cabochon Hotel: "charming and intimate"
My room was very private, comfortable and everything worked well. No fuss and elegant, yet quite different form larger hotels. Very individual. the pool was very nice for a dip at the end of the day. the breakfast in the library is great as is the restaurant. Everything is well done.Cuisine Wat Damnak: "One of my top choice in Siem Reap"
"It is a must to visit Cuisine Wat Damnak during your stay in Siem Reap! The food was great, a mixture of local and french style. The atmosphere was stunning, we sat on the first floor and enjoyed our meal. We were supposed to sit near the window, enjoying the moonlight and clear sky in Siem Reap. The waiter helped us to change the seats while it suddenly started to rain and a few drops started coming from the roof top. We wanted to visit for our next trip in Siem Reap, sadly find out it's closed in coming April. Maybe the chef need to go for vocation as well."Les Maisons Wat Kor: "Paradisiac"
A warm and friendly hotel where you feel good, I occupied a room during a couple of days, the room was spacious and comfortable, the gardens were just amazing and the staff was smiling and thoughtful. I warmly recommend The Maisons Wat KorSanak Retreat Bali: "Heaven!"
