Les Maisons Wat Kor: "Relax and enjoy"
Spacious Cambodian style rooms with excellent amenities set in lush tropical gardens. Staff could not have been more helpful. A little out of town, but no problems with arranging transport. Nice pool. Good breakfast. Nice to sit out on the balcony of the room and enjoy the setting.Summertime Villa: "Nice Place"
"Ive been to Goa several times but I had the most Luxurious time while visiting Summertime. . . . . Spacious rooms & a pool to die for…"Supanniga Eating Room: "Authentic Thai in Thonglor"
One of the best thais I've had in Bangkok. The crab roe pad Thai and the curry is amazing. Would highly recommend.Dewakan: "What an unexpectedly amazing meal"
"My family surprised me with a birthday dinner. Initially I didn't want to go because its so far away from where we stay. Dewakan opens only for dinner and had its location inside a university college, which didn't make me think that it could be good. The roads leading towards it is really dark and it was raining. When we arrived to the restaurant, it was dark too and they had only 2 set choices in the menu. 5 course (RM180) or 10 course(RM240). It is also mentioned that everyone should order the same menu. So we ordered the 10 course. The food was excellent and very creative, using local produce to its best. There are some stuff that I had never tasted before and it was pure delight to savour the creation. Our RM240 menu consists of: 1. Cured mackerel with ulam, pomelo and local flowers 2. Roast mushrooms with green curry past, yogurt 3. Braised aubergine in mushroom stock, jackfruit seeds, garlic emulsion. 4. Home made noodles with prawns, radish, cold prawn broth (MY FAVORITE) 5. Pike Conger with custard, roasted okra, clams foam (my least favorite, taste fishy) 6. Roast duck breast with beetroots (very yummy) 7. Roasted quail with masala spice, serunding, century egg (very good too) 8. Mulberries wt cardamom ganache, cashew brittles, pucuk gajus (amazing flavors!) 9. Gula Melaka marquise, sour meringue, pulut ice cream (too sweet for me) 10. Warm Chocolate tart, with jackfruit, gandum icecream (Wow!) The amazing varied menu above totally attacks our senses and taste buds and it was a really lovely dinner. Service was good and efficient but towards the end slowed down a bit. And I guess we were really tired by then cos its 10 course, what else could we expect. Our full tummies and the dark room make us sleepy too. 10 course is really too much to handle. Next time, we must have the 5 course instead!"Glenburn Tea Estate: "Magical Shangri-La up in the clouds"
"The views from all around both properties were breath-taking and we enjoyed some of the recommended walks you can do around the grounds, especially being treated to a delicious lunch down at the river. The food was great throughout the 4 days, sitting outside for breakfast and lunches is a treat (as long as the flies are not out in force) and dinners were similarly a great experience where you get to chat with other guests in a relaxed, communial manner, though private dining is always available, which we did take advantage of one night, when we were too fatigued to make small talk. Great variation of food also - with a different food 'theme' given for different nights - i.e. Indian, Tibetan, etc. The room we had (Singuella Suite - spelt incorrectly I'm sure) was huge, had some lovely period furniture and was decorated to a high, if a little mumsy, standard. Great bathroom and loads of hot water too. Sadly our visit to Darjeeling town was not the best due to it being really overcast, so I would suggest anyone stays here at least 3 nights to make the most of their time here. The road is what everyone else has written about it - bumpy and nerve jangling, but it is what it is - certainly we felt it seemed worse on the way down than up....also it seemed to get slightly more tolerable the more you did that journey, but it's no deciding factor over whether you should go to this place - it is really special, the views are simply stunning and the bonus of getting all your laundry done here for free was a great boon for us as we had 4 weeks worth of laundry to give them from our previous travels in India. The manager Jemima was lovely too - friendly, welcoming, easy to talk to with a great convivial manner. The shop was a nice, unexpected visit, but needed a bit more diversity in merchandise....again it got all a bit mumsy and twee after a while. The only other small criticism would be some of the employees English is very, very limited, which resulted in some wrong orders and misunderstandings - nothing major, but this is a pricey place to stay at and some guests might expect the service to be highly sharpened to reflect the fee. Still, if you can do go, I felt 4 nights was just the right amount of time to spend here....had a beautiful time which I will not forget. Room Tip: The newer bunglaow - for sure"Glenburn Tea Estate: "A wonderful place"
"On the journey down to Glenburn I was rather wishing we had just stayed in Darjeeling ...and then we arrived. From the moment we stepped out of the car I was smitten! There was a lovely warm welcome from Jemima and Glenburn itself is the most beautiful place, it feels straight from the pages of an upmarket magazine. The house is full of the most beautiful textiles and furnishings and the views are to die for. We had lunch under the pomelo tree - and what a treat to be able to eat salads after 3 weeks in India. The food is delicious, fresh and unusual and different at every meal. All the staff were lovely and Jemima organised everything seamlessly and with a smile. I would go back again in an instant. Stayed April 2017, traveled as a couple"Tugu Malang: "Lovely place, lovely staff"
Stayed here for just one night whilst passing through Malang. Have been planning to stay here for a while though due to good reports. The staff were super friendly on arrival and got me checked in quickly. Afternoon tea was delicious and very welcome, and then a trip to the spa for my 15 mins welcome massage plus another hour which was fantastic. Dinner was scrumptious - please note there is a separate vegetarian menu but you have to ask for it. So much food on offer! My room was great with a lovely soft bed. There are a number of breakfast menus - so much choice! I had an upset stomach and once I told the staff they brought me some herbal tea to help. The staff also gave me a free bag of coffee and some bread snacks to keep me going on my ride back to Surabaya. I didn't want to leave! Will definitely be back to explore more of Malang and experience the Tugu again. Terima Kasih banyak! Sampai Jumpa Lagi!Satri House: "Fantastic boutique hotel"
Great service, well maintained, and smoothly run boutique hotel located just 500m from Luang Prabang downtown. Very friendly and discreet service, rooms in good shape and a fine breakfast restaurant as well as good pool and spa services. We'll be back.Samanea Beach Resort: "Stylish comfort and understated luxury"
Everything about samanea exceeded expectations; the room was beautiful, extremely spacious, comfortable and clean and the staff were incredibly accommodating and friendly throughout our stay. The gardens in which the bungalows sit are beautifully cared for and create plenty of privacy and the pool and beachfront area are cool, tranquil and lush. Each bungalow has a different setting so if location is important to you then check where you are when booking. We spent four nights here and will certainly be returning when we come back to Kep. Couldn't recommend it highly enoughDavid’s Kitchen: "A Highlight of Our Trip"
Food: Delicious! I ordered an Asian dish (seared tuna with lemon grass) and my friend ordered a European dish (braised meat on potato mash with heavenly gravy), and both were SCRUMMY! We also got the flight of soups -- YUM! The squash soup and the pea soup were especially bright and flavorful -- I say this as someone who usually won't order either on a normal night. The lobster bisque was full of lobster (which is oddly not a given in my experience). David is an expat Brit and a charmer. Lovely man! He stopped by our table throughout the night, extolling stories about the family recipes behind his signature dishes, as well as his own mind-blowing travel experiences. The reservation page is a breeze, and best of all it asks if you'd like transportation to take you to and from the restaurant, which in a click brought a car to our hotel lobby at reservation time and made travel to the restaurant effortless. (We all agree the travel option on the reservation page is brilliant.) We will be back!!Travel Asia with Secret Retreats
