The Village House: "Fabulous retreat-you must stay here"
"We stayed at The Village house in mid August this year (2015), and we loved every minute of our stay. The rooms are luxurious, wonderfully comfortable and thoughtfully and tastefully decorated. The hotel itself is stunning, everything has been done for you to effortlessly enjoy the stunning surroundings and allow you to fully relax. We took lots of trips from The Village House, all of which were excellent and extremely hassle free. We ate in the restaurant every day and never had a bad meal, again a really thoughtfully put together menu and everything was fabulous. The greatest accolade goes tot eh staff, they are amazing, made us feel very welcome and at home, fantastic experience."Noel Rodrigo’s Leopard Safaris: "Serious safari"
"These guys are super professional and want you to see animals in the wild - and lots of them, hence lots of hours are spent 'on safari'. Guides are educated and friendly - they know all the species of birds, animals and we always felt confident and safe. And yes we saw leopards - but we also saw loads of other wildlife including elephants and tusker elephants, monkeys, peacocks, water buffalo, leaping gazelle thingo's, the list goes on. The food was exceptional - a lot of attention paid to traditional Sri Lankan cuisine with different food for every meal. Accommodation is not quite glamping but is around the mark with all the necessary quality amenities and your own toilet and shower. This isn't a party place - safari comes first second and third; lights go out early in prep for 5am dawn safari, but the drinks flow ok over lunch and dinner if you so desire. There is also an afternoon/dusk safari if you would prefer to snooze in the mornings. "Noel Rodrigo’s Leopard Safaris: "A really classy first-rate camping safari"
"We stayed in the only air conditioned tent and with it's ensuite bathroom and running water was the ultimate luxury. The things that made this safari were the staff (wonderfully expert and hospitable), the excellent Sri Lankan food and - oh yes - the wildlife spotting! Just be aware that unlike African safaris we have been on, this camp is in a lovely spot but outside the reserve as camps are not allowed inside."Hotel Tugu Bali: "A little slice of tranquility!"
Tugu was everything I expected plus more! If you are looking for an authentic Bali experience with its old world feel and amazing friendly service and care than look no further. The hotel is also located in the very hip Canguu area and is a hop step and a jump from the beach. You have everything here from an amazing spa, serene pool (which we had to ourselves) and a rooftop bar and restaurant. We will be back for sure!Glenburn Tea Estate: "Paradise – what more could you ask for?!"
Glenburn looks, tastes and feels like paradise. It is a truly amazing place where you feel cocooned from the rest of the world. From the moment we were warmly welcomed by Ranjan, Angela, George and Kim we felt like part of the “family” and thanks to the excellent company from the remaining guests we had a wonderful stay. Our one regret was that we hadn’t stayed longer! We were staying in a room in the water lily bungalow. A short walk, we enjoyed the privacy that this afforded us from the main building. The rooms are gorgeous and the views have to be seen to be believed. Waking to sunlight breaking over the summit of Kanchenjunga and enjoying it from the comfort of your 4 poster bed is an experience we will never get to repeat! The walking is amazing - both through the tea estate and the colourful villages that house the tea workers with everyone you meet friendly. You don’t need to leave by vehicle once you arrive - indeed the road is so bad you should do all your excursions from the town of Darjeeling before you arrive! We were sorry that the recent civil unrest in Darjeeling had had such a devastating effect on the tea production here. The food was first class and the team went out of their way to cater for our vegetarian diet. If we had stayed longer we would have left a stone heavier! We loved our “bed tea” a great touch. People should note that evening dinner is served “en famille” with other guests which may not suit everyone. Overall a wonderful experience. All our fellow guests had been before and we soon understood why. Location, service and luxury - what more could you ask for. Thanks to all the team there.4 Rivers Floating Lodge: "Simply stunning"
"My wife and I booked our trip to Cambodia a year ago. The 4 Rivers Floating Lodge came highly recommended so we were really looking forward to our stay. The pictures on the website do not do it justice. The location is stunning, the rooms are wonderful, the food is superb and the staff are some of the nicest people we have met on our trip. We went on a couple of excursions which were both great fun. The guides are very knowledgeable and ensure you have a great time. Do not miss the trip to see the fireflies. It’s only a short trip by boat but really impressive. The owners deserve a special mention for the great work they are doing with the local community. They employ a number of people from the local villages and I understand that they support a local school. I would go back tomorrow if I could. Nick & Jo"SANDAT GLAMPING TENTS: "Lovely place"
"I stayed here for 3 nights with my two girls aged 3 and 5 and husband in one of the tents. Even though we had young children I didn't feel that anyone minded as it is/feels like a quiet retreat. Sublime surroundings made my stay feel like a real treat. The owners were staying on site when we were there and did introduce themselves which was nice. The tents are bug proof if you keep it all closed up and having a glass door made it feel very room like. At night you go to sleep listening to frogs and crickets... very romantic. You need some strong Deet thou ! We had a meal or two here and a couple in town, the transfer is around 15 mins through beautiful rice fields and over a couple of ravines. We had a free massage as we booked directly with the website, I paid in advance for the tent via the website. Lovely people, very nice manager. Thank you Sandat for a memorable stay. "Villa Song Saigon: "Outstanding"
"I cannot speak highly enough of this wonderful place! The staff provide exceptional service and the restaurant provdes top quality food. The speedboat into HCM is a great touch and suggest you take advantage of it. We will certainly return."The Apsara Rive Droite: "Excellent boutique hotel"
"Excellent choice for a quiet, rural experience. Nice garden with a good swimming pool. Large well designed rooms in rustic Lao-colonial way and with a large balcony/terrace. Service is great and personal. Breakfast is with fresh fruits, coffee, fresh juice, wonderful warm breads and croissants, and a choice of different eggs. Transport to the other side is quite easy. Free boat service for drop-off and pick-up thar worked flawlessly during our week. There is a bamboo-bridge a few hundred meters away (5000 Kip / 0.65 USD). You have to scale/climb a few flight of stairs that are a bit rickety. Free bicycles to cross on a small bridge a bit further away. Tuktuk to town is 50 KKip / 6 USD. Watch the monks alms ceremony by the temple a few hundred meters to the right from the reception ar 6:15 am. Almost no tourists, so respect this holy cermony with minimal intrusion. Take the road to the left where you reach a temple with a wonderful view over the river. Only problem we had was the WiFi, but we got a separate modem that worked really well."
