The Island Lodge: "Everything you need plus more"
"We stayed here as part of the Les Rives Mekong Delta two day tour and found the Island Lodge a wonderful experience . On arrival we were greeted by Michel and given a refreshing welcome drink .Our room looked over the pool and the river and was decorated in an airy tropical relaxed style . There were guidebooks and magazines on the desk which I thought was a nice touch , although we didn't have time to read them ! After a swim in the gorgeous pool , where we found towels and sun hats thoughtfully laid out , we headed downstairs for dinner .The bar area was lovely and the staff very polite and efficient . Our dinner was beautiful ( we had chosen from the menu on check-in ) , every mouthful was delicious . A lovely Beaujolais complimented the food beautifully . Breakfast next morning was from the a la carte menu and we were told we could have as much as we wanted . I would recommend the Eggs Benedict ... Checkout was smooth and efficient , I would have loved to stay longer ! Being a guest at the Island Lodge was a relaxing experience from start to finish. . Thank you to Michel and staff - we'd love to return one day . Stayed January 2017, traveled as a couple"Manda De Laos: "An Oasis in the Middle of the City"
"This is such a special little spot - it feels like a hidden oasis in the middle of the city! We arrived around 8:30 pm without reservations and were given a table right beside the lily pond. The lights reflecting off the water combined with the cool, lounge vibe, made it feel as if we had walked into a secret hideaway! In addition to the romantic atmosphere, the food was delicious - some of the best we ate in Laos. We are admittedly adventurous eaters, but the menu offers a wide range of dishes to satisfy any palate, including vegetarians. Definitely a bit more upscale compared to other restaurants, but as we were celebrating our last night in LP, it was totally worth it."Villa Mathis: "un hôtel pleins de magie"
Inle Princess Resort: "Perfect balance between East and West"
"We loved our two nights at the Inle Princess and wish we'd had longer. Approaching the hotel in a canoe with a local oarsman foot-rowing was the start to a wonderfully relaxing and romantic stay. It is always tricky getting the balance between traditional style and atmosphere on one hand and modern needs on the other. I think they get it just right. The hotel is a series of traditional Burmese wooden houses with verandas, tiny gardens and an additional outdoor shower cabin. We had a lakeside view with wonderful sunsets. It is all beautifully landscaped with paths (lit by small lights at night) winding through trees. There's a pool and a spa where you can get a treatment and enjoy another stunning view. To our surprise there were no insects, apparently they come with the better weather. None even around lights in the garden. August turned out to be not a bad month to go - very few tourists, no bugs and (apart from an occasional downpour) good weather. All the staff were smiley and helpful and the whole place had a peaceful atmosphere. Our room and bathroom were large. The wash area was tucked away separately so the bathroom was basically a large room with a tub in the middle. The lighting was quite dim,so anyone putting on make-up would have a challenge not looking like a painted clown. Contrarily the curtains were quite thin so light streamed in once the sun was up. Large bed was very comfortable. We only ate Asian food and it was pretty good. Stick to cocktails, forget wine. Breakfast on the terrace overlooking the lake will leave an enduring picture in my mind. I could have done without canned music which clashed with the atmosphere but I think it was only breakfast and in the bar. A day on the lake visiting floating islands and local craft-making was a delight. We had a tropical downpour and ponchos and umbrellas were immediately produced. We were on a tight schedule mixing work and holiday so couldn't have the 3 or 4 days we would have liked. For charm and a distinctive atmosphere this hotel deserves a good rating."Sandat Glamping Tents: "wonderful place"
Sadly we could only stay one night, we will definitely be back. Tasteful and top quality in every respect. We felt relaxed after one day like we'd been there a week! The staff were lovely, friendly but unobtrusiveSandat Glamping Tents: "Hidden paradise"
Unique lodging experience in the middle of paddy field. We stayed in a safari tent, reminded us of our high school days camping less the hardships. The interior was very elegantly decorated, thermal comfort was good. Hospitality was excellence but we had enough privacy. Highly recommended to those who look for temporary escape from hectic lifestyle.Cuisine Wat Damnak: "First Class Food"
Great restaurant in Siem Reap. World class food. just excellent. highly recommended. if you are in SR you should def go here.Reverie Siam: "Gem"
"This place is simply put great. Very much enjoyed the open/ lofty lobby and restaurant with a more tapas style cuisine and a really decent wine selection. Check the daily specials that are not on the menu. Very friendly staff. Live music at night or jazz through sound system. Rooms/houses are comfy, the outdoor space nicely done. Pool uses no chlorine, consequently the water looks greenish but your eyes don't burn after a swim. Would certainly come back again."Heritage Suites Hotel: "Well appointed boutique hotel"
"In recent years big group tourism has really taken off in Siem Reap but staying in this boutique hotel enabled us to get away from the coaches and tour groups. Our room was big and well equipped. We stayed over Christmas and our package included a gala dinner by the pool on Christmas Eve with local dance display and a jazz singer. The food was excellent. The pick up from the airport in the vintage Mercedes was fun, but if not included with your package it's 5 times the price of a normal car."Jing’s Residence: "Fantastic Hotel! Fantastic Service!"
"We decided to visit Pingyao based on Lonely Planet recommendations (Pingyao is famous as a walled city and well-known for its local goods). So glad we did! This hotel was the best during our China/HK holiday. It is an oasis in an otherwise dusty and remote location. The room and facilities is top notch although don't expect to watch TV as there is none except in the guest lounge. You won't miss it though as the hotel offers spa treatments; noodle making and paper cutting classes. We were able to relax in the guest lounge with complimentary afternoon tea. All tea and delicacies (we had eight bean treasure one day and a type of porridge the next) are locally produced and were delicious. The restaurant is great for both breakfast and dinner with a wide selection available. Loved the scrambled eggs Chinese style on a bed of steamed rice for breakfast. Personal service and attention from all the staff is second to none but especially from the resident manager, Imam, who is outstanding. He was always available to assist or ensure our needs were being met and popped up magically as we would pass through the lobby area. On our final morning of our stay he took us on a personal tour of a ruined courtyard giving us a tremendous insight into how the locals lived many years ago as well as escorting us to a local shoe manufacturer. We would definitely stay here again and the hotel and friendliness make this place worth the detour to Pingyao itself! "
