"The whole setting of the hotel is very artsy, decorated beautifully with attention to detail and resembles the place it used to be perfectly. A quiet oasis in the middle of Luang Prabang with large, comfortable rooms, a nice pool, a very nice spa with knowledgeable staff, the whole staff team very attentive and lovely. It invites to meander around the premises, sit here and there, read, listen to the monks chanting in the nearby monastery sometimes, and just BE. Appreciated the NOT having a TV screen anywhere, no music, no noises at all, just nature. Breakfast was lovely and very good. One thing I would love to see improve - there is too much good coffee in Laos - but this was not incorporated in the menu - yet. "We only stayed at The Island Lodge for one night but had a great experience. The staff including Michel the owner was very friendly and welcoming. Great rooms with view to the mekong delta and cleaning was spotless. Breakfast was really good and the winelist for dinner is second to none in all of Asia. This is one of the best places we have stayed at. The Floating tents are so unique, in a very tranquil and beautiful location. Everything about it was different. We felt very special, as the service was very personal and nothing was too much trouble. The food and all amenities were very good. The 'swimming pool' is the river, which was brilliant as it was clean and calm with access from each tent. I just wished we had stayed longer. We chose Wow Borneo because they had the safest looking boats for our small children whilst having competetive prices. We had the boat to ourselves and a lovely crew. The food included some of the best local dishes we've had in Indonesia in 2+ years. Our guide, Faisal, knew his stuff and was great with the kids. We woke on both mornings to see large male orang utans hanging in trees yards from our boat. We saw probiscus monkeys, endangered Storm's storks, gibbons,macaques and crocs too. A fantastic trip. "Flower Island, a beautiful, serene paradise you do not want to leave, and if you have to do so by the end of your stay, you might have a little tear in your eyes... just beautiful in all respects ! The very friendly, helpful staff, the situation on this untouched island, the absolute beautiful beach, the happy, clean and pleasant ""house"" dog with its 2 puppies, the good food... what can one say more. Very original dishes mixing French and Cambodian savours. Great results as all the dishes we had were really delicious! The atmosphere of the restaurant is remarkable, spacious and traditional, perfect for romantic dinner. Last but not least, across all the restaurants I was lucky enough to try in Asia, I hardly met people as dedicated and nice than at Cuisine Wat Damnak. I can't eat a wide variety of food, and it can be particularly tricky specially for fishes (some I can, some I can't)... Carole Salmon was kind enough to follow-up with me days in advance to accommodate the best meal possible, and proactively warning me about sauce I could eat or not. Cuisine Wat Damnak was recommended to me by my friends who traveled in Siem Reap before me, and I will do the same to anyone who go there - if there is one restaurant to try, that's really it!Manukan Island Resort: "Beach villa"
Wonderful refitted rooms, completed in January 2017. Private beach and pool for residents. Delicious food. The resort staff cannot do enough to ensure you enjoy your stay. Day trips snorkeling and scuba diving available.
