Le Calao: "Fabulous!"
Visited on our last night in Luang Prabang and it was the best meal we had there. It was a cold night so we had to wrap up but we had a table with fabulous views over the river. The food and service were superb. Just wish we had discovered it on our first night then we could have visited again!David’s Kitchen: "Best Restaurant in Chiang Mai"
What a wonderful evening at David's Kitchen. Even though it was a monsoon outside, the restaurant was absolutely packed. Both food and drink were great. I highly recommend the lobster bisque. The cocktail and wine list were both excellent. Chef David stopped by every table to chat with the customers and make sure they were having a great meal. Excellent and personalized service at its best.Inle Princess Resort: "Well-appointed hotel with a sensitivity to its environment"
This hotel manages to provide a high standard of accommodation and service in a simple, rural part of an emerging nation. Our room was spacious, clean and extremely comfortable with a gorgeous lake view deck. The hotel's isolated location meant we, unusually, used the restaurant on each of our three night stay and really enjoyed the food. The service in all respects was marvellous. The staff could not have been more helpful or friendly. The lack of tv and patchy wifi are simply not an issue - the surroundings and potential to tour the lake are what we visited for. It's a beautiful area where tourism is helping a fragile local economy. This hotel tries hard to boost that in a sensitive way.GLENBURN TEA ESTATE: "Attentive service and superlative luxury"
"We stayed at the end of a 3-week trip around India. What a stunning location high in the hills and quite unlike everywhere else we visited - so quiet, peaceful and unspoilt. We enjoyed the tea and the variety of foods we were served up. We loved relaxing and being pampered. Our room was larger than many London apartments and the bath was literally the biggest in the world. How they got it and all the other furniture down that bumpy road we will never know. We were served 'bed tea' in the morning and breakfast on the verandah with views over the hills and colourful birds swooping in and out of the trees nearby. One morning we took an early walk down the hill to the river, with two bird guides. A stunning walk through the tea bushes. We saw about 30 different species on that walk and were met at the bottom by a table at the water's edge, with our own personal breakfast service. Incredible! Exceptional!! The best part of the stay was the staff. One local young man Ranjan did the tea tour with us and invited us to a wedding at his friend's house. So we all trooped up the hill to a real Indian wedding with great local food and drinks, and a group of smiling people welcoming us strangers into their house. Remarkable. He and many of the other local staff spoke fluent English and were so humble and friendly, I wish I could employ them back in the UK. The resort is managed by a British couple Will and Faye, and currently another Will (I understand that this third team member changes regularly), who were attentive and took care of our every need without imposing on our holiday. They ate with the guests at dinner time and made the trip really special. The two Wills invited me to try fishing with them (unsuccessful but fun!). It's a rare treat to get to stay somewhere so beautiful, and so luxurious, and with such friendly hosts. Thanks to you all!! "Cuisine Wat Damnak: "Fantastic – book ahead"
"Booked on what I read here and was not disappointed at all. Great options and flavours. Two of us - we had one of the tasting menus each so we could try many dishes. Lots of great things, each dish was well thought out and presented. Well worth a go. Wine list good and priced well. Highly recommended."Tugu Malang: "Great stay"
"I stayed here recently for three nights over the weekend and really enjoyed my stay. The staff were wonderful and helpful especially Lina and M. and John. Even though the hotel purposely appears older, it's actually a much younger building but they do a good job scattering antiques and various Java artifacts around the hotel giving the grounds and public areas a venerable appearance. The bar is especially charming and interesting and even serves decent wine by the glass; not so easy to find in Java. Wifi worked well and afternoon tea was a nice touch. The location is quite close to the train station and also faces a scenic park where frequent cultural events take place. There are several restaurants nearby and the hotel restaurant is prob the best in the city. A nice coffee shop across the street called Java Dancer was also worth a visit. Stayed May 2016, travelled solo"Rice & Zen Boutique Resort: "Another perfect visit to Sea Dance"
This was our second trip to stay at Sea dance resort and it did not disappoint! Such a great vibe, beautiful pool and surrounds and the food and cocktails are to die for. Nothing is too much trouble at Sea Dance, we are always well looked after and feel at home! We'll be back again for sure !Kenanga Hotel: "Great stay !!!"
"We spent four nights at Ubud in Kenanga Hotel during our August visit to Bali & Lombok. This has been our preferred location of our full holiday. Ubud is brilliant and Kenanga absolutely perfect. Once you are in the hotel you are out of the Ubud chaos and you can really relax. Wonderful view and extreme kindness the two top factors. My son (5 years old) enjoyed so much beeing free and look at ducks or walk on the small tracks through the rice fields. Karine, the hotel manager, has been very helpful with a lot of suggestions on how to use at the best our available days. We also tried a cooking lesson organized in the hotel just for us and we really enjoyed it too. The hotel restaurant is very good also for the demanding Italian tastes. Go there !!!"Villa Song Saigon: "Simply the best"
2nd year (4th visit) at the Villa Song Saigon and certainly won't be our last. Lovely hotel in a perfect location and the management, Yega Miss Thuy, and Kevin, together with their ever smiling staff, go out their way to make your stay memorable. We have visited many countries but overall the Villa Song is our favourite hotel. Already planning our return.muang la: "Northern Laos a very special spa resort"
"Situated on a river with hot springs and nestled in beside a small village this Hotel taught us more about high quality cuisine and life in Laos than any other. It was unseasonably cold but with coal fires in buckets (!) at each table and a large fire pit close by we were never cold. Hotwater bottles in the beds, hot thermal tubs on stilts in amongst the trees, a pool on an island, I think you must be getting the picture that this is a pretty special place. From the hotel we visited hill villages and this is a great place to hike from. Picnics, 4x4 vehicles and guides, transfers etc all organised by this hotel. It is a remote part of Laos and therefore very unspoilt. This is a gem of a hotel in such a far away place "
