Villa Song Saigon: "Great hotel away from the center"
Colonial villa with smart decor. Lovely big swimming pool. Located next to the river. Enjoyed the complimentary 10 minute boat ride to center of Ho Chi Minh. Excellent restaurant. A la carte extensive breakfast menu in a lovely setting. We had two adjoining rooms with a sitting room inbetween overlooking the river. Third floor no lifts so you needed to be able to manage stairs although I think there were rooms on ground floor. Lovely atmosphere and very attentive staff.Inle Princess Resort: "Perfect balance between East and West"
"We loved our two nights at the Inle Princess and wish we'd had longer. Approaching the hotel in a canoe with a local oarsman foot-rowing was the start to a wonderfully relaxing and romantic stay. It is always tricky getting the balance between traditional style and atmosphere on one hand and modern needs on the other. I think they get it just right. The hotel is a series of traditional Burmese wooden houses with verandas, tiny gardens and an additional outdoor shower cabin. We had a lakeside view with wonderful sunsets. It is all beautifully landscaped with paths (lit by small lights at night) winding through trees. There's a pool and a spa where you can get a treatment and enjoy another stunning view. To our surprise there were no insects, apparently they come with the better weather. None even around lights in the garden. August turned out to be not a bad month to go - very few tourists, no bugs and (apart from an occasional downpour) good weather. All the staff were smiley and helpful and the whole place had a peaceful atmosphere. Our room and bathroom were large. The wash area was tucked away separately so the bathroom was basically a large room with a tub in the middle. The lighting was quite dim,so anyone putting on make-up would have a challenge not looking like a painted clown. Contrarily the curtains were quite thin so light streamed in once the sun was up. Large bed was very comfortable. We only ate Asian food and it was pretty good. Stick to cocktails, forget wine. Breakfast on the terrace overlooking the lake will leave an enduring picture in my mind. I could have done without canned music which clashed with the atmosphere but I think it was only breakfast and in the bar. A day on the lake visiting floating islands and local craft-making was a delight. We had a tropical downpour and ponchos and umbrellas were immediately produced. We were on a tight schedule mixing work and holiday so couldn't have the 3 or 4 days we would have liked. For charm and a distinctive atmosphere this hotel deserves a good rating."Maduzi Hotel: "Beautiful, serene hotel with lovely attention to detail"
"We were pointed towards 'small luxury hotels of the world' and found this little charmer. By comparison to a lot of the other hotels on the site, it was relatively inexpensive at just under £100 for the night. The welcome was lovely, a genuine welcome drink from a selection (including alcohol - yay) and a strict rule of no tipping. The lobby is beautifully appointed with great attention to detail, from the sumptuous sofas to the endless array of Asian teapots. The room itself is gorgeous, with a GINORMOUS bed which could easily sleep around 27 good friends, a fabulous infinity jacuzzi bath and separate large dressing area and luggage storage. I would HIGHLY recommend this place and likely stay again. Stayed April 2017"Satri House: "Authentic Experience"
"Satri House delivers on its promise of being ""a historic destination, a unique design"". The original house was run as a hotel since 2002 and was extended in 2008 reflecting the original architecture. We stayed over Songkran for 4 nights and were warmly welcomed by Jacques Mury (General Manager) and Navinda Imbubpa (Guest Experience Manager). On arrival to the room, we were impressed by the handwritten welcome note from Jacques. Whilst it is true that the hotel is located close to a fairground (the source of techno music correctly referred to in the previous review), we understand that Luang Prabang is always tranquil and that the volume we experienced was limited to this New Year festival only. We reflected on the importance of a pre-visit study. Notwithstanding this, Satri House is an amazing hotel. The renovation mirrors the original house perfectly. The Satri House team is attentive and caring. Key takeaways: # the staff is incredibly warm and greet you with sincerity # the housekeeping and gardener teams are amazing # the breakfast is plentiful. We recommend the freshly made noodle soup # the restaurant is terrific. We ate in many restaurants during our visit and will review them separately. We found the quality of the food at the Satri House restaurant to be equal to our better dining experiences # we love the two pools. Whilst we agree that the main pool could do with more lounges, we note that there are additional lounges at the second pool # the hotel is not located in the centre of the (small) city of Luang Prabang. It is in fact a 15-20 min walk to the city centre. The hotel does provide complimentary lockable bicycles with baskets that will get you there in 5-8 minutes One suggestion is to resolve the positioning of the Google Maps location pin. I am confident that when return to Satri House outside of the New Year festival, we will rate our experience as excellent."tugu bali: "It doesn’t get any better than Tugu Hotel in Bali"
"First thing that impresses you about Tugu Hotel is the warmth of the staff! You will remember the efficient hospitality and the friendly nature for days to come! The beauty, the traditional ambience and the location takes you breath away. We were unlucky as we could not have their famed breakfast or dinner at the beach due to rains but the hotel staff was more than happy to organise the same in the best way possible indoors. We had booked their best villa i.e. the PurI Le Mayeur Villa for our honeymoon and we fell in love with the same. Every corner of the villa had such beautiful art to it. The villa is surrounded by a pond which adds to the experience of being alone with your loved one. Recommend the spa services here as they have experienced massage therapists who will give you relaxation in a traditional Balinese way that you don't experience in most spas! Also the All Day Breakfast is simply delicious and so filling! Me and my wife will always look back at this as our best stay in Bali and will definitely visit again! "Cheong Fatt Tze – Blue Mansion: "Beautiful place to stay"
"We thoroughly enjoyed our 3 night holiday stay at the Blue Mansion. The place is just beautiful and steeped in history. Our 'Scholar' room was spacious and secluded although the food court noise from next door is very loud at night. Earplugs provided by the hotel fixed it to some extent, but book a room on the other side if wanting an early night! The mansion is ideally located close to food outlets, markets and it's walking distance to the Fort and other historic attractions. Pool area was small but ideal at the end of hot days. Indigo restaurant on site was a pure delight. Breakfast was interesting - try the duck and noodles for a treat! Room service drinks were reasonably priced and staff were very helpful and friendly. The biscuits and rice cake surprises in the room each day, with a hand-written greeting on a leaf, were an additional delightful touch. We loved our stay here. Stayed April 2017, traveled as a couple"Maison Polanka: "We felt very privileged"
"We felt very privileged to stay at la Maison Polanka. It is not a hotel; no room number, you take off your shoes before entering your room, someone comes to you with a cold scented towel when entering the property after a walk, a waiter brings you a glass of water when sitting in the garden... Everything is organized to make you feel like you are a special guest! Cathy the manager understands your expectations and is totally dedicated to her job and to make you feel special. (...) The house is authentic, full of charm and character. The garden is amazing and the large pool is warm and always clean. Staying at Maison Polenka made us feel very privileged and we would definitely recommend it for anyone who wishes to find a peaceful, tailored-to-your-needs, beautiful and comfortable place! Merci beaucoup!"Mathis Retreat: "Holiday"
A really Fantastic Place for couples! Its quiet and very very Romantic. A Pool placed in the Ricefields and Bungalows with a countryside view. The Bungalows Are high Standard and the Stuff is Well trained. Ubud was the nicest Place on our Trip. Deffenetly coming back to this Great Boutique Hotel!Mume: "Great all around experience"
MUME clearly deserves to be ranked in asia's top 50 restaurants as its creative menu, intimate settings, and enthusiastic staff. The food itself is very reasonable for the quality level and we loved the atmosphere and creative cocktails that were offered up by the top notch staff. Moreover, we found the setting warm and for this level of service they managed to avoid some of the usual pompous pitfalls of other fine dining restaurants in town. In short, it was our best meal in Taipei and I would strongly recommend booking in advance for anyone planning to visit TaiwanDewakan: "Molecular gastronomy and haute cuisine for traditional Malay flavours"
"The best meal I have ever eaten, and my wife thought the same. And we have eaten in a lot of excellent restaurants around the world. This relatively new restaurant must be heading for a Michelin star before very long. The 10 course tasting menu included some of the finest and most surprising dishes I have ever tasted. Outrageously bold and delicious flavour and texture combinations using traditional Malay flavours and local ingredients, served with genuine flair for presentation. The staff provide wonderful service in this small restaurant currently housed in KDU university buildings. Go. Go soon before it becomes impossible to get a table. Go so you can tell people you supported this chef and this restaurant before they were famous."
