Mathis Retreat: "Perfect, Peaceful Stay in Ubud"
The Kenanga hotel was so beautiful and peaceful. I went there with a friend of mine over the holidays, and the staff was very accommodating. The lovely woman who owns the hotel was very sweet as well, and gave us great recommendations for good restaurants in the area. The hotel is located a little bit outside of Ubud, but close enough that it is only a short, inexpensive taxi from the main town center. There is also a free shuttle from the hotel to and from the center of town during the day. The infinity pool at the hotel overlooks the rice paddies, and the rooms were beautiful and very clean. The wifi is a little spotty in the rooms, but works great in the lobby, restaurant, and by the pool. I would definitely visit this hotel again!NOEL RODRIGO’S LEOPARD SAFARIS: "Memorable and fun packed 2 day safari in Wilpattu"
"We had high hopes for the 2 day safari, and were not disappointed! Pila was our naturalist host and he drove the jeep and hosted us throughout the safari. He is a knowledgable and experienced guide, very committed to providing a wonderfully memorable and diverse experience. We saw many varieties of birds, mammals and reptiles, often thanks to Pila's sharp and expert eyes. He was happy to provide as much information as we wanted, and carried a selection of reference books on the jeep to add background information to what we were seeing. The highlight was seeing 2 leopards, one up close and magnificent! But we were also delighted by the mongooses, deer, mugger crocs, jackals, painted storks, eagles, brown fish owl, langurs, monitors, turtles, woolly neck storks, adjutants, kingfishers, bee eaters, and many other stars. Pila also educated us about the flora and especially species unique to the area. We observed other professional park guides greeting Pila with respect and deference and realised we were fortunate to be with one of the best. The campsite was in a very natural setting. We had the impression it was actually within Wilpattu National Park, which isn't the case. It's about 15 minutes drive to the entrance. However there were only short queues and the campsite location was fairly peaceful and very beautiful, with plenty of natural sights and sounds. The cook and team produced delicious and beautifully presented food, and all manner of lovely small touches. Cold towels on arrival and each return from game drives, a small library of reference books, torches, campfire, refreshing King coconut water, warm showers on request, solar powered lights in the tent, gorgeous fresh fruit, 4 course meals with plenty to go around. Our first night was on a full moon night, Poya celebration for Buddhists. It was very special to be served a wonderful moonlit dinner in this amazing setting. The second day we were joined by 2 delightful New Zealanders and their Sri Lankan friend, who were great company on the game drives and during our lovely meals, which also added to the magical and memorable experience. "Maduzi Hotel: "Small, elegant, beautiful"
"This was the first time that I chose to stay in BKK at a smaller hotel. The choice is so varied and cheap in BKK that one is literally spoilt for choice. This one costs a little bit more but for that you essentially get a beautiful apartment like hotel room with every modern amenity and design feature. The breakfast is a pure joy in that it has the standard breakfast fair that most hotels do. The difference is in the quality and presentation. I felt loved and looked after by the staff who in quintessential Thai ways went out of their way to make me feel at home. Stayed December 2016, traveled solo"Tugu Malang: "Two nights in Malang to climb Mt Semeru"
"I'd previously stayed here in 2015 and was aware of their leisure activities programme as the objective for this visit was to climb Mt Semeru (3,676m), the highest point on the Indonesian island of Java. My colleague and I were warmly welcomed by staff and allocated an upgraded room which was much appreciated. Whilst the heritage hotel is very well laid out with lots of antiques and memorabilia, this would count for nothing if the staff weren't up to looking after guests to a very high standard. I've stayed in many great hotels around the world but the Tugu Malang is included in my top 5 hotels in the world. The trekking arrrangements were satisfactory but for various reasons we didn't reach the summit but if we try again we'll allow for an extra day for this. The catering here is exceptional with variety and quality spoiling guests for choice. I can highly recommend this hotel!"Golden Buddha Beach Resort: "Paradise"
"This is one of my favorite places in the world. As soon as you wade ashore off the long tail boat that drops you off you know your somewhere special. It's a wonderful escape from work, city living and the world. There's nothing to do here but relax. A 10km long beach with pretty much no one on it and beautiful water. Small islands and mangrove swamps to explore by kayak. Beautiful beach homes to kick back in. The option of yoga in the morning and massage any time of day. Stayed January 2017, traveled with family"Glenburn Tea Estate: "Truly worth the back breaking journey"
"We travelled from Pelling to Glenburn and the journey to put it mildly is HORRENDOUS. ""Roads""""do not exist and one can feel the bumps in every corner of your body. The last 45mins to an hour is equally bad but the place more than makes up for the travel hazard. Faye and Will (the outgoing Managers) take great care of your every need and the service is extremely personalized. One is not rushed into doing anything, whether it be food timings or day trips. Ranjan Chhetri the local manager is gracious and feeds you with anecdotes of the surroundings. We stayed at the Rose Suite which is well appointed and has ALL creature comforts besides truly living up to its name!!! We ere also lucky to meet up with the estate manager Mr Hussain. He regaled us with stories of the region where he has spent more than 26yrs. The common dining area is a good meeting point fro all the guests but one also has an option to dine in your room with silver service. A must visit again place. Excellent collection of books and magazines to read. No television in the room is a great boon. Kindly try and do something about the road to and from the property."Mie Cafe: "Best food I ever had"
We were a large group and ordered absolutely every item from the menu, to share - there is not even one dish that we did not absolutely adore! It is for sure the best choice in Siem Reap and in Cambodia!Satri House: "Absolutely wonderful"
"Have been to LP many times, this is a top pick if you can afford it. The place is absolutely gorgeous with great decoration, super comfortable rooms and bed, beautiful gardens and pool, very helpful staff. The spa is also great as is the breakfast and homemade jams! Well located too. It’s a treat!"Tugu Bali: "Amazing accommodations"
"We absolutely LOVED Tugu hotel in Canggu. The location is perfect, the service is AMAZING and the food was delicious. The suites are breathtaking, ours came with a fruit basket of local fruit. The bathroom was half outdoors, filled with flowers and was surrounded by a Koi pond with a beautiful ladle to pour water traditionally. We also had a private pool in our back yard which was a tropical paradise. You have amazing options for seating indoors or out when dining, and the complimentary afternoon tea was diving. "MesaStila: "Great Place to Escape the Rat Race"
"We had 5 wonderful days at Mesa Stila to unwind. We were pampered by their staff from the moment we arrived on the property and when we were dropped off at the airport. Staff were helpful and gracious. The food was diverse enough to keep us at the resort and didn't feel to need to hunt elsewhere. We enjoyed yoga and coffee tour on site. Our combined sunrise Borobudur and Prambanan tour was effortless as Ruffian was a skilled driver with excellent English and shared interesting local knowledge with us. Definitely the way to tour temples if you have children. The Resort and Spa is not cheap by South East Asia standards but the experience was well worth the price if you are looking to re-energise in a tranquil place filled with traditional Indonesia buildings (relocated and rebuild from other parts of Java), expansive and lush grounds, views of nearby volcanic mountains and thoughtful staff. Stayed April 2017, traveled with family"
