Chakrabongse Villas: "Stunningly perfect"
My three day stay was such a heavenly treat. Behind the gate lay a tranquil escape from the exciting but tiring streets outside. Wonderful rooms with lovely staff and freshly cooked thai food to die for. All that and a midnight swim under a crescent moon!!Rahai’i Pangun: "Reece trip on Katingan River & Sebangau National Park"
I was lucky to be part of this 5 days Reecee trip - a trip that hasn't been done before. It was very very well organised and the many transfers between the lovely Ruhui Rahayu river boat and the small canoes that brought us along the small black water tributaries, all went smooth. Staying in the stilted house on the black water lake, Danau Bulat, was great. It was wonderful to get special food treats from Ruhui Rahayu brought the 1 km into the lake. The highlight of staying in Sebangau National Park at the WWF lodge was great. So was trekking at night to set the photo trap. Sailing further into Sebangau National Park on the Panggu Alas black water river to the lake with the same name was equally exciting. A wonderful trip. Lisbet (Denmark)Tiger Mountain Pokhara Lodge: "One of the best hotels in Nepal"
I have visited Tiger Mountain several times and I now regard the staff there as 'friends'. The team led by Marcus, Jhalak and Dol Raj are very friendly and helpful. The food is some of the best available in Nepal. Local curry is excellent and the Western dishes are wholesome and tasty. The hotel focuses on ecotourism and so tries to use local organic produce as much as possible. The large garden is full of birds and butterflies and the naturlist team available for nature walks are very experienced. The swimming pool has possibly the best hotel swimming pool view in the World. I shall return!VILLA SONG SAIGON: "Charming hotel in a stunning location"
"Pure peace and tranquility next the Saigon River, absolutely stunning place which exceeded all our expectations. Beautiful, colonial style rooms with stunning views, fabulous food all served with the Vietnamese hospitality. We felt wonderfully pampered and spoiled. "David’s Kitchen: "A True Chiang Mai Treasure"
"On our first night in Chiang Mai, we wanted to start our stay here with a nice dinner, and after reading all of the wonderful reviews, we decided there would be no better place than David's Kitchen. Our experience not only met our expectations, but exceeded them. When we first sat down, David came to our table and was more than kind and welcoming. The staff paid such close attention to detail and with their superb service, it made our dining experience unforgettable. There was never a moment we were left unattended. The pumpkin soup and the raw salmon with cucumber salad was absolutely delicious and I definitely recommend those as starters. Then, I ordered the Beef Cheek as my main course and it was magical; a true culinary experience for anyone who has a passion and appreciation for food. You could feel the chef's heart and soul in every dish. Then, as if it couldn't get any better, we were talking to David again, telling him how much I love to cook and that's when he invited my whole family to the kitchen to meet Chef O. The Chef and his team gave us a warm welcome and took a picture with my family. Overall, the experience we had here was an utter treat and one we will never forget. Thank you David and Co. for an amazing night filled with impeccable service and food. Anyone who is staying in Chiang Mai should not leave without getting the pleasure of visiting this Chiang Mai treasure. Sincerely, Alina Aslanian & Family"Villa Song Saigon: "A peaceful Oasis"
"This beautiful hotel is set out of the bustling city of Saigon, located on the riverside. It is about a 20 minutes boat trip into district one of HCMC (provided free of charge by the hotel at selected times during e day). Approx. 50 mins drive from the airport (depending on time of day/traffic). The hotel is quiet and offers a relaxing and peaceful escape from the bustle and noise of the centre of HCMC. Very friendly staff, clean, large room (top floor), lovely pool area. Restaurant at back of hotel over looking river, lovely setting, food very good. We thoroughly enjoyed our three night stay and would recommend this for anyone wanting a retreat from the manic city centre. "Manukan Island Resort: "Charming villas with great staff"
"We stayed for one night in a beachside villa. Staff encountered were all very friendly and professional. Upon check in we were shown to our room, given a welcome tea and a friendly introduction to the room and facilities on the island. The room itself was so charming - spacious, well laid out, clean and very comfortable all round with beach towels and thongs provided and a cute little balcony overlooking the beach, it suited the environment perfectly and you really couldn't ask for anything more. We were warned that they switch generators several times a day and as such we may experience power disruptions but this was very minimal. The outside breakfast buffet was okay, we did notice insects crawling over some of the breads. Dinner, although the menu was somewhat limited, was really lovely with tables and fairy lights set up next to the beach complete with three musicians performing songs for every table - very romantic. Most of the many tourists on day trip leave the island by 4pm and after this you can really appreciate and enjoy the environment you are in as during the day it is not as pleasant, crowded and noisy. The walk to Sunset Point was a highlight though the pagoda there doesn't offer the best view - continue down the small path to the rocks, very serene. We had an earlyish flight to catch on the day of our departure and the staff were happy to ensure an early boat back to KK was made available to us. We were offered a friendly farewell and as we boarded our boat and were about to depart, a staff member ran out to return a power cable we had accidentally left behind in our room which was much appreciated. If you are planning on visiting Manukan Island we would recommend staying at this resort - very enjoyable and well managed and you are able to experience the island without the daily crowds."The Twelve Hotel: "Highly recommend"
A bit far from centre but easy to get to BTS by motorcycle or Tuktuk. Staff are extremely friendly and helpful, swimming pool is nice too but we have to time to try it. Overall a good experience to stay at The Twelve Hotel !Muang La Lodge: "Super get away."
"Great small lodge right on the river Ou. Indeed the swimming pool is on an island in the middle of the river that you get to via a wooden bridge. Lovely big rooms (somewhat like a Lao 'Tudor' look with all white and dark exposed timbers). Super meals ... dinner is a 5 course degustation. There is a natural hot spring that the locals use, and the lodge has permission to pump from the spring into two huge baths on small towers for the use of guests from 4.30.pm when it is still 42C - let it cool into evening a little! Great local market if you want to rise at 5.30am and have a bit of a stroll into the village. Don't miss a trip to the hill tribes. Loved this place."4 Rivers Floating Lodge: "Disconnect from tech reconnect with nature"
"So shock horror no WiFi. Fantastic! You are properly able to relax but make sure you download any books before you go. No aircon but very good fans in the tented rooms. There are tents floating on a pontoon on the river. All the tents were well appointed and you could go for a swim from the decking around the tent. Good range of activities eg kayaking, a fantastic trip to a set of waterfalls that you can swim in, and a reasonably vigorous set of walks from an 90 mins to all day if very keen and fit. It’s in a beautiful setting and trying hard and succeeding to change lives and attitudes of local villagers. Some opportunities to see wildlife eg hornbills, ospreys etc. Liked its isolation"
