Manda De Laos: "Wonderful!"
"Probably our favourite restaurant during our travels in Vietnam and Laos. Beautiful setting, it is as attractive as it looks on the photos! Excellent service and fantastic food. We went for dinner and enjoyed it so much that we returned for our last lunch before embarking on our home ward journey. We had a la carte, great sausage and pork balls for starters and good chicken curry and stir fried buffalo. Also had one of the set tasting menus which was delicious. Interesting cocktails! Definitely the best in Luang Prabang. It's a little way from the centre of the town, but well worth the journey."The River Resort: "A lovely oasis!"
After a couple of days of slightly "gritty" travelling, it was a great joy to arrive at The River Resort. Lovely rooms, great river views. I had a very good massage in the spa and enjoyed some really fresh and delicious food. A lovely place to re-charge your batteries!Maison Polanka: "Secret Hotel Bliss"
"Don't pass up the opportunity to stay at this blissful, beautiful hotel. The rooms are fantastic, the grounds, including a fantastic pool, are beautiful and the attention to detail couldn't have been better. There are only 4 rooms plus a separate house - we stayed in the lovely yellow room. They will arrange tours to Angkor Wat though a friend recommended Dara Rann who we booked on our own (and highly recommend). The entire staff was caring and attentive and they even provided a fabulous breakfast in an insulated bag for us to take with us to see the sunrise at Angkor Wat (we were picked up at 445am). They even surprised us one evening with a birthday cake and card signed by the entire staff- thoughtful personal service indeed! You really feel as though you are in a secret hidden haven. What a special place!"Jing’s Residence: "If you are staying in Pingyao, you need to stay here"
"The only downside to our stay is it wasn't long enough. Jing's Residence surpassed our expectations in every way. From the moment we arrived we felt like we had walked into a dream. The hotel is beautiful and full of history. Even though you are in the centre of the walled old city of Pingyao it is quite and peaceful. The staff is amazing and made us feel so welcome. Our room was beautiful and spacious with seating outside in the courtyard, a perfect place to start your night and end your night. Make sure to eat here!!! The food is wonderful and fresh. My favorite was the local oat noodles, so much so I had it twice. I am a picky eater, because of dietary restrictions and was very well taken care of at Jing's Residence Restaurant. I did the paper cutting class, while my husband went out in the rain to walk the wall, and it was worth every penny to learn something new and to meet Deng Cui Ying. Please don't make the mistake we did and only stay one night. The small village of Old Pingyao is lovely and a day and a night is enough time to visit, but the extra night will let you truly relax and embrace the hotel. I can not thank Imam and his staff enough for the warm hospitality. Our stay with you was the best we had in China."David’s Kitchen: "Girls Holiday"
Disclaimer: this review doesn't even do David's Kitchen justice... We arrived for dinner at David's Kitchen the first night in Chiang Mai, after an underwhelming night in Bangkok. David was at the door to greet us (and all guests). We were taken to our seats where there was a place card with (all of) our names on it. David later came up and asked us about our trip and where we were going. He then invited us back in the kitchen to meet the team and head Chef - and get pictures! The experience alone was outstanding and I haven't even gotten to the food. Everything from the preparation, delivery and first bite was heavenly! Mouthwatering, just the right amount of seasoning and flavor for each dish. It was such and experience to learn about David and how his travels brought him to Chiang Mai. Our experience didn't end after leaving the restaurant. The following day we received a note from David thanking us and wishing us the best of time on the remainder of our trip - yes, he recounted where we were going from there and had remembered from our conversation the night before. You don't find that service in the states and rarely find it in general. Hats off to David and his spectacular team. We will be back for dinner again!Amata Lanna: "Tropical Oasis in Chiangmai"
"It's easy to forget you're in a bustling city when staying at the Amata Lanna Chiangmai. We stayed here for three nights during our honeymoon in March and couldn't be more pleased with our choice. It's a beautiful, intimate property with a swimming pool (a necessity on hot days in Chiangmai!); an exceptionally warm and welcoming staff; and delicious, complimentary breakfast each morning. Be sure to try the mango sticky rice -- it's the best we had in Thailand! Wi-Fi is free and works very well at this hotel, too. Stayed March 2017, traveled as a couple"Rachamankha: "Another romantic evening"
We come back to this romantic place twice within a week. Always enchanted! We had our Valentine dinner there. Scallops, tiger prawns, fish with Thai herbs, veggie with Myanmar curry, all perfect, accompanied by attentive service and the lotus candle lights. Can't be better!Tugu Lombok: "Beautiful hotel on a beautiful beach"
We stayed four nights in a Bhaghavat Gita suite which we would certainly recommend. The suite has its own garden with a large plunge pool and then you're straight onto the wonderful white sand Sire beach. The suite also has a private front garden which includes the semi-outdoor bathroom. Our daughters stayed in a kampong bungalow directly beind our villa which was perfectly adequate and a lot cheaper! You can eat on the beach or in various other places around the site - we chose the roof of the Temple-like spa. Best to book these in advance - there is no where else to eat unless you drive for about 30 mins into Sengigi - we didn't bother as the food was good and varied, with both local and international dishes (mainly Italian). The restaurant is open-sided and overlooks the pool, which was never crowded (don't think all the rooms were full when we were there). We took the dragon boat trip to snorkel at the Gili Isles which was good fun, and we saw a turtle.Cabochon Hotel & Residence: "Charming boutique hotel"
Great design, excellent food quiet. Lovely spot. I will definitely go back if I am in bkk again. Rooftop pool is added bonus. Helpful and friendly staff. I need to fill in 200 characters. So still writing.Villa Song Saigon: "Staff eager to please"
"The staff are fantastic - nothing is too much trouble. Boutique hotel with pool open till midnight, complimentary speedboat along Saigon river to city centre is an added bonus. Would recommend Room 201 without hesitation. Stayed March 2017, traveled as a couple"
