Glenburn Tea Estate: "Absolutely Fabulous"

"After travelling around for a few days it was wonderful to arrive at Glenburn to a very warm welcome from Faye, Will and Alex. The bumpy drive down adds to the excitement of your arrival at this beautiful working tea estate. Our room, Planters, was colonial luxury with a huge comfortable bed and a little sitting room off the back with stunning views of kanchenchunga when the clouds lifted. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff and the group guest dinners were great fun and a chance to make new friends and meet interesting people, although you can dine in private if you wish to do so. Breakfast was also delicious as was the tea and cake served in the afternoons. Snacks are available throughout the day but as the meals are so generous we could not have eaten another thing. A free laundry service was very welcome after our travels and it was great to continue on our trip with clean clothes and after a relaxing massage in the spa. A walk around the plantation is a must as it is not only scenic but informative. We were disapointed not to visit the local school supported by Glenburn but it was holidays for them so maybe next time as I would love to stay at Glenburn again. Room Tip: All rooms are beautiful."

Discover Muang La | Visit Laos | Luxury & Boutique Hotel: "Beautiful, peaceful, luxurious, a class act"

"The title sums up how we felt about this magical place. The location in Muang La is perfect - far from the disney-land tourist circuit of Luang Prabang (and a beautiful but bendy 5-6 hour drive from there as well!), it's remote but therefore also perfectly situated for exploring the nearby rugged countryside with organised private trecks through the hills, visits to the various ethnic groups and their time-locked villages, followed by a dip in their own natural hot spring and a delicious 5 course meal every evening overlooking the river. The managers Raphael (Swiss) and Job (Dutch), are at the top of their game and do a magnificent job of making you feel like royalty from the moment you arrive until the moment they wave you goodbye on your onward journey. I advise booking at least 4 nights, a package which includes free beer and wine at dinner as well as a free massage and gives enough time to really settle down and experience it all. If you visit Northern Laos and have the budget (not cheap but looking back it feels like truly great value), this place is a must."

Tugu Bali: "excellent boutique hotel"

"This hotel is exceptional; excellent service, very responsive staff. I informed the staff about my plans of the day; and they accommodated us and even anticipated our needs; the staff is very responsive. Breakfast is excellent, pool is nice and private. The common grounds are exotic All rooms with ocean view ( second floor) have a spiral staircase to enter. The patio ( balcony?) is large, but no A/C( thus a little warm in March) you are asked to close the windows in order to avoid the wildlife. Lovely garden, lotus pond; very very nice experience. My only caveat is that this great hotel is now surrounded by a recent development of bars catering to the young surfers. The music can be a little loud until the wee hours ( 3-4 AM). Stayed March 2017, traveled as a couple"

Rak Ko Jae Seoul: "Beautiful traditional house/inn in traditional Bukchon neighborhood – wonderful to stay and wander nearby"

"This beautiful traditional house (hanok) is set on a side street off Bukchonro road in the center of the Bukchon neighborhood. A convenient subway stop (Anguk Station) is about four blocks away. Rakkojae's four rooms surround a quiet courtyard. The are four rooms are lovely – each different. We had the smallest room, but it came with a lovely wooden porch overlooking the peaceful and beautiful courtyard. We sat on the porch to read in the morning and afternoons. We also had delicious breakfasts on the porch (we chose the delicious Korean breakfast, but Western is also available). You can arrange to have a Korean dinner served on the porch or in your room – we chose the Galbi dinner, which arrived with many small dishes (panchan) and chapchae (noodles) -- everything was delicious and beautiful. There is a small sauna tucked into the hanok – woven mats on the floor and patterns of cherry blossom trees on the walls. The manager Mr. Kim is friendly and helpful. He provided us with ideas and recommendations as we planned our explorations around the Bukchon neighborhood. We loved staying in the Bukchon neighborhood - fun, with a mix of old beautiful traditional buildings and cute and trendy clothing shops and coffee shops.Two palaces are close by (Gyeongbokong Palace and Changdeokgung Palace) as well as the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art and many art galleries (in Seochon neighborhood nearby).There are also small traditional handcraft workshops to visit. Because of the convenience of Anguk Subway Station and the efficiency of the Seoul subway we were easily able to use Bukchon as our base to explore all of Seoul. We were so happy with our choice to stay at Rakkojae and in the Bulchon neighborhood."

Supanniga Eating Room: "Tasty Thai Treat"

"Went to Supanniga as within walking distance of our hotel. Nice ambience and super friendly staff. Really nice that they asked us how spicy we wanted the food and they got it spot on for us - we like spice but not Thai hot! We shared pu jah crab - minced pork and crab meat and pla som Tod - fishcakes. Both were lovely, really liked the fact that the fishcakes had texture to them, not spongy. Both dishes were really flavoursome. For main courses, we shared two crab dishes, pricey compared with the rest of the menu - plenty of cheaper options available. Both dishes were lovely, great to share - one with a spicy coconut style curry sauce and the second dish with yellow peppers. We shared some noodles too. No room for dessert - plenty of food. If I had to grumble then the main courses arrived a bit too quick for us but no big deal. We both agreed it was one of the best Thai meals we'd had - not cheap but high quality food served by a really nice bunch of staff. Would return again."

The Cabochon Hotel: "Romantic Colonial Hide-Away in the heart of Bangkok"

"Extremely jet-lagged my husband and I stepped out of our 20 hour flight from Los Angeles, and were met at the airport by the hotel's private driver. A 25 minute drive later, we were quickly checked into the lovely Cabochon. Immediately I felt better, surrounded by the cool marble, fragrant lush trees, and fascinating lobby decor of this renovated colonial mansion tucked down a small alley. We arrived rather early for check in, but they set us up with towels, exotic passion fruit cocktails and lounge chairs beside the roof-top pool and after a dip-- was immediately refreshed. Our room was simple, quiet, clean and romantic with high ceilings, and a columned balcony. Other than a few modern amenities (like powerful air conditioner, fast wifi, in room safe, and a TV we didn't use) it was like stepping into the past. The breakfast was delicious and we even had lunch there in between excursions. The proximity to the SkyTrain subway was very convenient and the fastest way to get around town, but the hotel is happy to call a taxi for you-- and give directions. As with everywhere in Thailand, the staff are extremely helpful, friendly and polite. You will be happy to tip for service. There are many extrodinary restaurants near by including ""Bo.Lam"" and ""Soul Food."" We throughly enjoyed our visit to Bangkok and it started with the Cabochon. Tip for all of South East Asia: Most people in the service industry speak english fairly well, but get a ""Directions Card"" from the hotel front desk and put it in your pocket for later-- it will have the hotel name/address written in Thai (not useless english) and is very valuable to get a taxi ride home at the end of your night out. The Governor’s House: "Colonial charm"

The Governor's House is perfect for travelers looking for something beyond main stream. This colonial house has a great deal of character and charm. Each room has it's own style with an interesting mix of antiques and contemporary touches whilst the communal areas evoke a bygone era. We enjoyed breakfast in the tranquil garden... I can highly recommend the Eggs Benedict. The garden also has a small pool and relaxing chill area. All the staff are friendly and helpful, especially Yin Yin, who does a great job as GM.

Mume: "Knocked it out of the park!"

"we ordered 2 appetizers- Oysters and tartlets, 3 small dishes- prawns, waygu tartare and beef tongue and 2 big dishes- amadai fish and beef cheek. 2 deserts - Cucumber sorbet and passion fruit cake. 1 bottle of water and 2 glasses of wine. Oysters and tartlets were both very good. Prawns, tartare and beef tongue were excellent. Amadai fish and beef cheek were nothing short of amazing. Deserts were also very creative and tasted great. I mean when was the last time that you thought of cucumber as a desert ? This is a restaurant that is truly deserving of a 5 star rating."

"The architecture, ambience, landscape, surrounding, view, amenities, facilities, service, all perfect! We stayed at the Ambar family Villa which has beautiful view to the mountains & lush greenery. I & hubby particularly enjoyed the in-house coffee plantation tour."

Cuisine Wat Damnak: "Good food. Nice breezy balcony"

The food and beer was good. It was a spacious getaway from the crowded streets. Get their salads. Sit on the balcony at sunset
