Slow Villas and Spa: "The BEST place in Gili Air"

Review by: sofiamp | Source: Trip Advisor
Slow is simply the BEST place to stay in Gili Air. Effortlessly chic it is a paradise to go back to at the end of your dives or beach activity. Julie knows absolutely everything there is to know about the gilis and is there to help. The villas have their own private plunge pools, garden, kitchenette and a great bed: the perfect recipe for success. The spa is amazing. A bit of heaven on earth.

Manukan Island Resort: "Charming villas with great staff"

Review by: Analogue4 | Source: Trip Advisor
"We stayed for one night in a beachside villa. Staff encountered were all very friendly and professional. Upon check in we were shown to our room, given a welcome tea and a friendly introduction to the room and facilities on the island. The room itself was so charming - spacious, well laid out, clean and very comfortable all round with beach towels and thongs provided and a cute little balcony overlooking the beach, it suited the environment perfectly and you really couldn't ask for anything more. We were warned that they switch generators several times a day and as such we may experience power disruptions but this was very minimal. The outside breakfast buffet was okay, we did notice insects crawling over some of the breads. Dinner, although the menu was somewhat limited, was really lovely with tables and fairy lights set up next to the beach complete with three musicians performing songs for every table - very romantic. Most of the many tourists on day trip leave the island by 4pm and after this you can really appreciate and enjoy the environment you are in as during the day it is not as pleasant, crowded and noisy. The walk to Sunset Point was a highlight though the pagoda there doesn't offer the best view - continue down the small path to the rocks, very serene. We had an earlyish flight to catch on the day of our departure and the staff were happy to ensure an early boat back to KK was made available to us. We were offered a friendly farewell and as we boarded our boat and were about to depart, a staff member ran out to return a power cable we had accidentally left behind in our room which was much appreciated. If you are planning on visiting Manukan Island we would recommend staying at this resort - very enjoyable and well managed and you are able to experience the island without the daily crowds."

Villa Song: "Great Boutique Hotel"

Review by: Linda G | Source: Trip Advisor
Our stay here was very short but we very much enjoyed the attentive service and the wonderful terrace by the river. Very relaxing. A perfect spot for drinks and dinner. A nice change to the hotels downtown.

4 Rivers Floating Lodge: "Amazing"

Review by: Carol L | Source: Trip Advisor
"I can't say enough about this hotel! We booked at 4 Rivers on the recommendation of some friends who had visited the area and had seen the hotel from a far. It really is a one of a kind experience. Here are the highlights: - The food was gourmet (and we are food snobs...), including the lunches packed for day excursions. There is also good wine list. - The staff were all incredibly courteous and went out of their way to ensure everyone was having a good time. Adonis, the manager, really seems to have pulled together a great team. - Our lead guide Rambo (his nickname!) gave good advice on the tours and made the days very fun. Definitely take the trip to the waterfall, and try the sunset cruise too. - The pre-dinner firefly viewing was very cool - The tents themselves are really special. They are very spacious, and the fans in the room kept the temperature just right for sleeping. Having a ladder right of the deck made swimming super easy and we were in and out of the water all the time. - Watching the sky change colours every night was an activity unto itself. - The lodge arranged our transportation to/from, and it was very professional and reasonably priced. Overall I would say it was excellent value for the money. We were there for 3 nights and i would say that was the perfect amount of time. Definitely stay there if you have a chance!"

Muang La Lodge: "Comfort in Northern Laos"

Review by: voyageur à paris | Source: Trip Advisor
"This was our second trip to Laos and we decided to go further afield to the northern part of the country to trek and explore the region. The Muang La resort was a very welcome refuge in an area that has really not seen considerable investment in tourism infrastructure. The resort is all inclusive and does a very good job looking after its guests. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and offer up nice views of the river and mountains. Our three days of trekking were organized by the hotel. Each day was a discovery, and while strenuous, our hiking took us up mountains to remote villages inhabited by Khmu and Hmong. We also visited jungle waterfalls, local markets, temples and rice fields. Our guide was terrific and he gave us access to places I'm sure we would not have been able to discover. After a challenging day of hiking, it was great to get back to the hotel, soak in one of the hot tubs fed by a natural spring, have a swim in the pool, accessed by a bridge suspended across the river, and play with the adorable baby monkey adopted by the hotel staff. The food at the hotel was very good - with diverse choices available, including both Laotian and foreign food. The hotel provided us with packed lunches for our treks, typically a rice or noodle preparation wrapped in banana leaf, accompanied by local fruits. There are nice walks to do right from the hotel -- crossing the river in the nearby town and wandering into the local villages on the opposite bank is interesting, and the return to the hotel side can be done on a river raft built from bamboo by one of the local farmers. The hotel plays an important role in the local community, providing employment and management and language training to the local population. All staff, apart from the hotel director, are Laotian. I'd highly recommend this property for a visit to this part of Laos. It's well worth the 5 to 6 hour drive from Luang Prabang, through breathtaking scenery, especially on the stretch from Pak Ou. Heading back to Luang Prabang, we took a river boat for part of the journey, again arranged by the hotel. Pack good walking shoes, an adventurous spirit, and a curious mind and you will love the Muang La resort and all it has to offer."

MesaStila: "Exquisite Gem"

Review by: oleyaleya | Source: tripadvisor.com
This is the perfect place to relax and unwind from the busy city life. Surrounded by beautiful views of the mountains and the forests and ricefields and plantation. The public areas are very well appointed, having taken pains to fill the clubhouse and the bar/lounge with vintage, period pieces. The staff is always helpful and polite. Excellent service by everyone. We even had a private tour of the coffee plantation where we were introduced to the flora and fauna of the place, the organic garden, the coffee area and once more given traditional snacks and more coffee and jamu. One can spend an entire day just lounging by the infinity pool by the jungle. Or playing billiards in the lounge. Or walking around the extensive estate. The spa/hamman facilities and menu are also top-notch. I can't say enough good things about the place. It is a very, very gracious place full of hospitality, warmth and the beauty of nature.

Tugu Bali: "A rare gem"

Review by: Ollgoodhere | Source: Trip Advisor
"I stayed at Tugu hotel with my wife and my little one and we absolutely loved it. A rare beautiful place in the middle of a lush garden. They did an incredible job to maintain this historic place. The mystique beach of Canggu is one step ahead which can be enjoyed thanks to a very convenient ""green beach deck"" to enjoyed all the facilities of the 5 stars. The service is excellent. The Indonesian food very tasty and I simply loved the surprising Japanese restaurant. We need now to test the Tugu hotel in Lombok !"
