CABOCHON: "Excellent. A must stay while in Bangkok"

"This hotel is small yet feels luxurious. The rooms are very comfortable and have everything you need. The staff were a delight - helpful, informative and friendly. The food at breakfast and at dinner was excellent - delicious, adventurous and beautifully presented. The restaurant and breakfast room are a treasure trove of artefacts. The roof top pool is a wonderful touch with views that give you a very good feel for Bangkok. "

satri house: "Beautiful rambling villa; separate colonial-style buildings; beautiful decor; attentive staff; lovely manicured grounds"

We visited this hotel and were favorably impressed. The public areas and spacious, airy rooms were beautifully and characteristically appointed with furniture, furnishings and artifacts from Laos and surrounding countries. The hotel is situated at the edge of town but an easy walk into the center for sightseeing and dining. The staff we encountered were pleasant and cooperative. Relatively recent modernization means up-to-date facilities which make for an enjoyable stay. The photos on the TripAdvisor website provide a very good visual tour of the establishment.

The Island Lodge: "Charme, magie, et Dépaysement !!"

"S'il existe des lieux rares, The Island Lodge en fait parti !! Incroyable de tranquillité, un accueil grande classe, et tout ce qu'il faut pour rejoindre une ville bouillonnante où tout simplement découvrir le coin. Un endroit à découvrir, partager en famille ou avec des amis sans hésiter !! Un moment très chaleureux en grande partie lié à l'accueil de Françoise, Michel et leur équipe !! On y retournera très certainement."

Jing’s Residence: "Level of service beyond compare"

We decided to splurge once on our trip to China and this was the place to do it. Imam, the Indonesian general manager, responded promptly to every email, accommodated us with early check in (6 AM) since the room was available (and even upgraded us) which was such a relief after the overnight train from Datong. He and his staff were there to greet us, settle us in and were there at every turn for advice, help and service. We borrowed their (free) bikes and went to the temple out of town and the local market outside the city walls. The restaurant provided delicious breakfasts and dinner. Imam was funny, friendly and made our stay. Highly recommended.

Tugu Lombok: "world class tropical island resort"

"We recently stayed at hotel Tugu for our honeymoon. From the moment we were picked up at the airport the hotel staff were friendly, attentive and helpful. The hotel staff were always very friendly, and happily greeted us at breakfast, lunch and dinner and whenever we were out and about in the resort. The staff were very enthusiastic to offer us activities around the island during our stay. We were pretty much able to make any of our Lombok dreams come true. We were able to experience traditional weaving in a traditional women's weaving village, amazing water falls at sanur, my husband hand fished with the local fisherman, snorkeling with turtles in beautiful clear waters off the Gili islands and a beautiful romantic beach side dinner at sunset. our honeymoon at hotel Tugu was an absolutely amazing experience. We were welcomed like family, a perfect getaway. Complementary breakfast and afternoon tea was always wonderful and of the highest quality. The complimentary massages were very welcoming as well, thank you. Half way through our stay we were generously upgraded to an Oceanside villa with a plunge pool which was extremely generous, thank you Mr Henry. We traveled in low season and it felt like we pretty much had the whole resort all to ourselves. If you want seclusion, privacy, away from ""the rat race"", relaxation, beautiful surroundings, wonderful atmosphere ,world class service and a romantic tropical island beach resort get away, we would highly recommend hotel tugu Lombok. A special thanks to hotel manager Henry and every single one of his amazing team on there attention to detail and customer service we received at all times throughout our stay. Satri House: "Perfect Respite"

I was visiting Bangkok and wanted a peaceful break. Three days in LPB at Satri House was perfect. The staff -- at reception, restaurant, pool, were all helpful and sweet. Great location for quiet but still so close to the Night Market. Bicycling into town (bike courtesy of Satri) to explore the temples and shopping was fun. Every detail of decor and hospitality are addressed flawlessly. I will go back again, and send friends too. Completely lovely.

Locavore: "Still surprised after reading all the reviews about Locavore"

"It doesn't happen to me very often, but in this case the atmosphere and expectations raised by the reviews of hundreds of Tripadvisor members did not reflect the genuine experience we had by dining at Locavore. This kind of intro-paragraph will mostly precede a rather negative and contrary viewpoint but in this case I must say the evening we spend here was truly mesmerising. The amuse-bouches were drenched in local flavours even though some fitted on my fingernails. Imagine with that the 'Ashes' cocktail (you will indeed put a burning stick into the concoction, thus releasing a fair bit of ashes in your drink) and culinaire paradise in coming into wide view. The mains - we went for the 7 courses menu - were a mixed bag with caffeinated fish as a weird but surprisingly good part of it. Overall it is the combination of the nouvelle-cuisine presentation on the dishes combined with the exotic, original and authentic taste of local ingredients (chili pepper flowers, anyone?) that made this a very special evening for the both of us. Do try the Balinese coffee at the end. With a total bill of around 2.700.000, including two glasses of excellent Sangiovese, we probably spent more than half the average salary of the people working there, but as this works out at 160 Euro it was money more than well spend."

MesaStila: "Outstanding Resort and Staff"

"We stayed at MesaStila for 4 nights and it was overall outstanding, with two small let downs (at of the review). The staff are excellent, probably the most helpful and friendly that we've encountered anywhere. They really made use feel comfortable and welcome. The hotel and grounds are beautiful and well maintained, the entire time we were in the resort we felt at peace and a sense of wonder from the ambience. The resort has great complimentary activities in-resort, and we tried many of them and enjoyed them all. The coffee plantation tour was particularly interesting. The food in the restaurant was fantastic, we each tried different food from the Indonesian section of the menu and enjoyed everything we had. The issues we had were the airport transfer and the hotel organised excursions. Both were significantly overpriced. The airport transfer was about 300,000 IDR more than it would have cost us to organise ourselves, but we decided to use it as we were staying for a special occasion and thought that for that price it would be a special service; it wasn't. We probably would have had better service going with a random taxi tout. Despite being sent by the hotel the driver did not seem to know where the hotel was. Looking at the excursions you could book through the hotel, we found them overpriced. We organised an excursion ourselves to Borobudur and Prambanan together and our driver was excellent. Everything included it was about 1 million IDR cheaper than it would have been to take the hotel organised excursion that went to Borobudur ALONE. What was especially bothersome about this, was we spoke to some other hotel guests who were wondering whether visiting Borobudur was worth what the hotel was charging. Given how impressive Borobudur is, I think it's a shame that visitors might not get the opportunity to visit simply because of overcharging. Having said all that, if you stay at MesaStila you won't regret it, it's a fantastic resort and the staff are outstanding. Staying there is worth every penny. Just organise your excursions and transfers yourself unless you want to pay through the nose."

Rachamankha: "Heavenly stay"

"This ranks as one of our family's favorite hotel stays. Rachamankha is a gorgeous, tranquil oasis that's well located in Chiang Mai. The property is large for the middle of town, artfully filled (in a minimalist way) with antiques and good attention to detail. We loved the pool (so welcome when temperatures go above 100°) and the library. It was near capacity but it always felt uncrowded and quiet. The staff are lovely and helpful. Rooms are large and well appointed (but under air-conditioned - they could use more powerful units, and better bathroom amenities befitting a property of this type.) Breakfast is wonderful, made to order and set in a perfect, lovely courtyard. We're already planning to return. Stayed March 2017, traveled with family"

bali jiwa: "Coming home"

"This was our second stay in Bali Jiwa Villa and it already felt like coming home. The surrounding is breathtaking, the staff so very warm and welcoming and villa full of beauty. We enjoyed every minute. You can easily go to Ubud for shopping or dinner. Most of the time we had dinner in the villa, which was lovingly prepaired and utterly delicious. We definitely will be back."
