Mie Cafe: "Do not miss this restaurant"
We went here on our first night straight after arriving in Cambodia. We stayed at Le Meridien which is only a 5 min walk. The food was great. Of course had to try the fish Amok - best fish amok I had in Cambodia. All the food is prepared by the kitchen staff with utmost precision which you will notice back in the taste. Half open kitchen and very pleasant staff. The chef came and visit all the tables personally to check if all was good. This restaurant has impressed me - must go to even if you stay a bit further away.Noel Rodrigo’s Leopard Safaris: "THE highlight of our trip and one of the most unique experiences we have had to date"
"We recently spent a night at Noel Rodrigo's Leopard Safaris, and the entire experience left us awestruck and amazed. To place things in context, this is an actual campsite that is located next to a national park full of leopards, elephants, crocodiles, deer, wild boar and other forms of wildlife. If you're looking for a sanitised, 5-star luxury resort with all the modern conveniences that accompany such indulgences, this is not for you. If you have a sense of adventure and wish to be close to nature, however, you will find that Noel Rodrigo's has everything you will ever need. Our host and wildlife guide for our stay was Pradeeth. He is extremely friendly and knowledgeable about the wildlife in the park. He was also responsible for ensuring that our stay was comfortable and that all our needs were being met. From the moment we set foot in the camp until we left, we were made to feel like royalty. Pradeeth was supported by a team of discreet but attentive staff. We didn't manage to catch their names or speak very much to them, but this team of employees are the ones responsible for ensuring that everything in the camp runs like clockwork, and a big shout out goes to them. We were also introduced to Sajith who, much to his chagrin, has been promoted to management and no longer takes drives into the park as often as he used to. He did manage to sneak a drive in with us in the afternoon, thankfully. Sajith and Pradeeth are extremely knowledgeable about the park and it was awesome having them by our side during the drives, pointing out things we would otherwise miss. From the distinct call of a distressed deer sensing the presence of a leopard (those calls gave us an indication of where to head towards) to the paw tracks left by a passing porcupine, they made the park come alive to us, and made us attentive to even the smallest of things. Despite being a campsite, and sleeping in actual tents (think: glamping), Noel Rodrigo's had everything we needed. The accommodation was comfortable and the tents came fully equipped with safe deposit boxes, cupboards, flushing toilets and hot showers (on demand)! There is no air-conditioning, but all rooms are equipped with fans, and it does get cool in the evenings. Besides the wildlife and game drives (more on that later), the other highlight of the stay was the food. We were treated to scrumptious spreads every single meal. Beer, wine and gin & tonics were also readily available at NO extra cost. Everything was covered and there were no hidden costs. We dined al fresco every meal - literally out in the open, under the spreading canopy of a huge tree. Dinner was served under the stars, and the dining area was lit by hurricane lamps and candles. It was really special. The game drives were awesome. It could be because we were there during the off-season, but we mostly felt that we had the entire park to ourselves. We were fortunate enough to see 2 leopards during our first, afternoon drive. Pradeeth insisted that we woke up at 4:45am for our second, morning drive so that we could be the first to enter the park. This sacrifice paid off as we spotted another leopard that morning, and it was no further than 10 metres from us! Besides leopards, we also spotted elephants, deer, wild boars, peacocks, jungle fowl, mongoose (mongeese?), hares, kingfishers, crocodiles, hornbills, storks.... I could go on and on. The other thing that set Noel Rodrigo's apart was its emphasis on eco-tourism. We had the honour of being the first two visitors to take part in their new tree planting campaign (ask them about it). We were invited to plant a tree at the camp at the end of our visit in order to reduce our carbon footprint. It was a special gesture, and made us feel that we had invested a part of ourselves at the camp. We promised to return to see our wood apple tree. It also shows how the folks at Noel Rodrigo's genuinely care about the environment and nature. For this reason alone, you should consider Noel Rodrigo's over all the other safari options at Yala. We will be back soon. And until then, we sincerely hope that Noel Rodrigo's continues the good work it is doing over in Yala."Maisons Wat Kor: "Charme"
Beautiful little hotel , zen and bucolic. Very clean simple . The staff very kind and helpful . Very quite in the middle of the vegetation. Rooms simple , authentic. I recommend this hotel . Must do the bamboo train good experience to understand what appended during the war for these people trying to escapeSatri House: "Absolute oasis of calm and tranquility"
After the hustle of Hanoi we flew into Luang Prabang and spent 3 nights at the Satri House Hotel, it was superb. In easy walking distance from the town centre, fantastic beautifully furnished room and lovely grounds with charming pool. The staff were also first class --- I can't think of a single criticism. We have travelled in Indochina before and use trip advisor regularly but this is the first time I have ben moved to write a review ---it was excellent.
A vous de tester ...The Twelve Hotel: "Nice quiet hotel with reception at the top"
A nice hotel located in a quiet residential area of Bangkok. Few rooms (ten, only 6 were open during our visit), junior nice very spacious and bright with views of the pool. The reception is great, either by the owners or other employees, plus help organize our daily outings: tuktuk reservation, restaurant recommendations. Very good breakfast. The hotel is located a bit far to walk to public transport (and almost no sidewalk lend itself to long walks especially in our case with a small child), but some supermarkets and restot good practices within 10 min, and 40 baht (€ 1) a tuktuk takes you to the nearest BTS station or water taxi. We would definitely return if we have the chance to return!Les Maisons Wat Kor: "Right next to Khmer ancient houses and historical attraction places"
I have spent few nights there with group of my friends from Australia and Phnom Penh. We've enjoyed our stay very much, real Khmer villa accommodations, great pool, great local foods and friendliness staff is another plus to make this property stand up the most popular in Battambang town. I have no hesitate to come back again with my family and highly recommended this property to all kinds of traveller.Muang La Lodge: "So glad we chose to stay here"
"When we were looking for a place to get away from the standard visitor locations in South east Asia, this resort was proposed as an option. One of the best decisions we made on the holiday. It takes some effort to get there but it really is worth it. It is such a tranquil location, by the river with great settings for meals, the pool on the island. The rooms are excellent and the service from the staff first rate. They truly aim to make your stay as pleasurable as possible. Language is a barrier at times but we were more than ok with this as given it's location this type of resort must, as it does, put a lot back to the community. The food was of a high standard and the 5 course tasting menu for dinner really suited us. High quality food and allowing you to try dishes we wouldn't normally try. What probably added the extra touch for us though were the day trip options provided. If you enjoy walking and want to see how village life in this part of Laos is, then this is perfect. With a local guide we learned so much about the culture and were able to very naturally engage with people in the villages. Relaxing in the resort after each day made for a great balance. Muang La was a real highlight of our holiday. I thoroughly recommend it. "The Island Lodge: "A dream spot in the Mekong Delta"
"Are you looking for a 6 star hotel in the Mekong Delta? You just found it! Nothing needs improvement. From the first minute we arrived a the hotel till the very last moment all was a dream of a hotel. Service excellent, rooms amassing, restaurant outstanding.... Nothing else to say. A must see and enjoy hotel!!!!"Noel Rodrigo’s Leopard Safaris: "Wonderful"
This is a fantastic experience. Noel and the team have covered all the bases which makes for a wonderful and genuine safari reminiscent of the original African model. The camp is well equipped with tents spaced to afford privacy, offering large beds and private bathrooms. The food was just excellent throughout our stay. We saw a variety of wildlife including leopards and were grateful to Noël for sharing his photos after a camera malfunction. From my original contact with Sophie everything flowed seamlessly and made for a great stay.
