Glenburn Tea Estate: "A hidden gem not to be missed!"

Review by: KatieSillett | Source: Trip Advisor
A stay at the Glenburn tea estate is a truly unforgettable experience and we loved every minute of it. Whichever way you look from the delightful gardens or from either of the beautiful bungalows there is a wonderful vista, even when the mountains are shrouded in mist. Unfortunately for us, the weather was not at its best when we stayed in late March/early April, but we were lucky enough to be there for 5 nights and so we at least had 2 fabulous mornings when we were treated to the breathtaking views of the Kanchenjunga mountain range from the comfort of our room. Our room (Camelia) was fabulously spacious and beautifully decorated in English country house style with a lovely seating area, and French doors onto a small balcony with magnificent views. The bathroom was enormous with roll top bath and huge walk in shower. We did not see any of the other rooms but all other guests seemed just as impressed with theirs, and we gather the views are wonderful from each and every room. The food was delicious with an imaginative and varied menu and, despite initial reservations, we really rather enjoyed the communal dining in the evening. It was very interesting to meet such a variety of people from all over the world. I think perhaps my husband was a little bored on the last evening being the only man at a dining table full of rather verbose women! There was plenty to keep us amused during our 5 night stay with a visit to the tea factory, walks around the estate looking at the flowers, birds and butterflies, a lovely (though quite tiring) hike to the river camp with a tasty meal when we arrived, and a day trip into Darjeeling. We could have done a lot more but, after the hustle and bustle of Kolkata, and because the gardens were so idyllic, we relished in the opportunity to relax, reading, chatting, playing cards and drinking plenty of Glenburn First Flush tea! All of the staff were friendly, helpful and efficient, and hats off to the multi-talented Nilima and Luna for being such lovely and well-informed guides, but also for running the shop and helping with the organisation of the staff welfare programme, amongst a multitude of other skills. A very big thank you to Jemima, Holly and all the staff for a truly memorable and delightful stay........ We hope we will return one day.

Tips are discretionary and we tipped daily. They have a shared tip box, but of course you can tip individuals. We found hetaff very appreciative of our tipping and in some cases it seemed they were pleasantly surprised

Amata Lanna: "Great boutique hotel"

Review by: dthuson1126 | Source: Trip Advisor
Awesome hotel with a really amazing staff that makes you feel welcome from the time you walk in. Rooms were very cozy and we enjoyed the nice firm bed! Close to the night bazar and city center. The staff also helped with taxi's and suggested a great spa that offered free transport! Overall a great time at the Amata Lanna

Manda De Laos: "An Oasis in the Middle of the City"

Review by: slyandvero | Source: Trip Advisor
"This is such a special little spot - it feels like a hidden oasis in the middle of the city! We arrived around 8:30 pm without reservations and were given a table right beside the lily pond. The lights reflecting off the water combined with the cool, lounge vibe, made it feel as if we had walked into a secret hideaway! In addition to the romantic atmosphere, the food was delicious - some of the best we ate in Laos. We are admittedly adventurous eaters, but the menu offers a wide range of dishes to satisfy any palate, including vegetarians. Definitely a bit more upscale compared to other restaurants, but as we were celebrating our last night in LP, it was totally worth it."

Villa Song Saigon: "Excellent stay and wonderful experience"

Review by: Rod A | Source: Trip Advisor
"Recently enjoyed a three night stay at the Villa Song on my first vist to Vietnam. The hotel and stay thorougly exceeded my expecatations. The location was ideal, a short boat ride or cab (use Uber if you have it) ride from the center of Ho Chi Minh city which provided ideal - getting away from the intensity of the city center was fantastic. The setting of the hotel is absolutley picturesque. Very beautiful area on the river, great area for relaxing, having a meal, having a drink, just fantastic. Very peaceful and enjoyable. Pool area is also very good - they offer service at the pool so no need to go anywhere for refreshments or food. Plenty of chairs and shade. You MUST visit the spa during your stay! I enjoyed several treatments that were simply world class and delivered by the warmest and most friendly staff (sorry that I forgot her name!). Don't miss the spa during your stay! All of the staff were friendly, warm and accommodating. Service was spot on. Hotel was immaculately clean. Room was fantastic - clean, cool, well equppied, great bed, great linens, very quiet and great sleep. You cannot go wrong staying at the Villa Song Saigon - should I return to Vietnam I would say here without hesitation. "

4 Rivers Floating Lodge: "A piece of paradise"

Review by: Oana D | Source: tripadvisor.com
"I discovered a wild place, where nature and silence seem like paradise. Large and confortable rooms so well integrated in the nature, without hurting it. My stay was so enjoyable : place is very clean, confortable, and staff so attentive and friendly. I enjoyed relaxation, water, fine food and wines, all these brought together by the kind and competent managers Anna and Valentin, dedicated to their customers. I will return for sure, temptation is not a sin !"

Inle Princess Resort: "Superb stay in a fantastic resort"

Review by: malcolmb267 | Source: Trip Advisor
We spent two wonderful nights at the hotel. The design of the estate and, in particular, the rooms/houses has been beautifully thought through to create a self-contained oasis of calm and peacefulness, just what we wanted after a succession of very busy days sightseeing! The staff were excellent and the service impeccable, the food was very good. Strongly recommended.

Glenburn Tea Estate: "A peaceful magical getaway"

Review by: karenmulla | Source: Trip Advisor
"We were 4 families that stayed in Glenburn Tea Estate for 4 days from 26 th Dec to 30th Dec 2015. It was a SUPERB holiday. The property is awesome... Both the colonial bungalows are tastefully furnished.....we were blessed with clear skies on all the days and thus we were awed by the magnificent views of the Himalayas, of course the highlight being the Kanchenjunga....you feel one with nature here... The rooms are spotlessly clean and spacious. They've retained their old world charm. The food was great with a different cuisine being served everyday. Breakfast and lunch in the outdoors and dinner in a beautiful dining room. They even organised a lovely bonfire for us one evening! Faye and Will are lovely hosts. The staff which includes their guides, drivers, cooks, housekeeping staff... Just about everyone are fabulous. The personal attention to detail was impressive. The service faultless!!!! We spent our days hiking, fishing and just languishing on the verandah or the gardens absorbing the gorgeous view and the tranquility of Glenburn. Both our hikes, one to the suspension bridge to Sikkim and the other to the campsite at the river followed by a barbecue lunch and a game of cricket were great. We had the pleasure of meeting the owners Anshuman and Husna Tara Prakash while we were in residence. They are a super couple and their all round supervision and dedication to maintaining the high standards is evident when one talks to them. The roads to and around the tea estate are bumpy but once there it is PARADISE ON EARTH. We are all looking forward to returning to Glenburn soon. A must visit for families, friends, couples or even solo travellers. Stayed December 2015, traveled with friends"

Manda De Laos: "Delicious food in romantic setting"

Review by: Pauline and Ala... D | Source: Trip Advisor
This is a rather special place with a unique atmosphere. Where else would you find yourself sitting by a moonlit lotus pond listening to frogs croaking while enjoying a superb meal? The service was excellent and the food delicious. It's not the cheapest meal you will have in Laos, but an experience definitely well worth paying for and you would pay a great deal more for this quality of food and ambience in the UK.
