Tugu Lombok: "Magical, Quirky and Friendly"

Review by: TravellingBertie | Source: Trip Advisor
"I stayed at Hotel Tugu Lombok with my two sons in one of the Ampenen Villas. I had dined here in the past which had 'wetted' my appetite to stay and explore the resort more as it had looked so interesting and unique. I certainly wasn't disappointed. From arrival in the reconstructed Rumah Ampenan (19th century Chinese traders house), to the Bale Kokok Pletok (open air dining area), Lara Djonggrang Bar and temple inspired Spa, the whole place is full of interesting stories, mystique and quirkiness which give it a vibe like no other place I've stayed before and definitely set it apart from other larger resorts and ""chain"" hotels. Our villa was spacious even with three beds in it, refreshingly cool and spotlessly clean. We had so many welcome flowers and a personal note, which just endeared the place to us even more. Every day we were surprised with a new pet (of the towling variety, thanks to Jaelani one of the super friendly staff). While I appreciate it was low season, there were not many guests and so we felt like we were getting extra special attention - all the staff knew our names, which made you feel instantly safe and comfortable. We were also given a personal guided tour of the complex by Ellie, which as specified, was filled with stories and tales of Ancient Lombok, Temples, Princesses, Gods and immortal beings - facinating to understand the inspiration for the environment which we were enjoying. As there are not many dining options close to Hotel Tugu (a couple of very basic local warungs about 1km away), we ended up dining at the hotel for all meals, which did add up a bit (especially with the ++), but the quality of the food was superb with a wide choice of local and western foods, all of which tasted delicious. Even with taxes, the food was still good value compared to what we would normally pay in Australia for the same quality. We were at the hotel for three nights and dined in three different locations - the Bale Kokok Pletok, the Gedong Gandrung (hall of love - with my two sons!!) and the beach - all fantastic experiences. I would recommend doing a bike ride around the local area on the hotel's bikes (we did ours late afternoon to avoid the heat). Jaelani offered to escort us which was helpful and informative. Another worthwhile thing to do is get up early and stroll along the beach to enjoy the sunrise over Rinjani, the myriad of sea life exposed at low tide and the fishermen heading off for the day. We also used the hotel's kayaks to paddle around and over the bay (looking at amazing sea life below, including turtles) and stand up paddle boards - perfect for use on the clear blue, calm waters of the Sire peninsula. I dont think there's any doubt that I will come back to this magical place again - there is nothing I could fault and much to recommend. Room Tip: We were given a tour of several villas - they all looked wonderful."

Villa Song: "Wonderful Christmas break"

Review by: pleneuf | Source: Trip Advisor
We stayed 4 days at the end of December at the hotel. It was a very pleasant experience. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the free boat shuttle to district one. A nice way to avoid traffic and a great view on the skyline.

Tugu Bali: "Amazing experience"

Review by: aagabrielle | Source: Trip Advisor
"From the moment we arrived we knew this was experience was going to be unique! the staff was more than fabulous and they truly made the difference here. The place has real magic around, our room had beautiful small details that we loved. We came to Bali to celebrate my birthday and they really made this experience wonderful. The food was delicious, the massage therapist were great, the tours and drivers were really nice and patient, the recommendations for places to visit and good restaurants as well. would definetly come back with my eyes closed. Tugu Malang: "An incredible night in a lively museum"

Review by: happytraveller546 | Source: Trip Advisor
"The TUGU Malang is a unique place on earth, being both a magnificent museum and an ultra-comfortable hotel with a pool. You will be flabbergasted by the magnificence of the place: antiques, artefacts, wooden doors, Bali temples...all inside the hotel. Take to your time to wander and step back in time. The food is delicious and the breakfast amazingly rich of flavours. The location is very central, the service is of high-standard. The only weaknesses of the place would be some rooms facing a wall (but the hotel kindly moved us to a pool view), and the busy and noisy traffic circle outside (ask for a room not facing the traffic circle)."

Samanea Beach Resort: "Girls Trip in Cambodia"

Review by: goadkimberly | Source: Trip Advisor
Beautiful, secluded resort. The hospitality and atmosphere is beyond expectations. We arrived in early afternoon to welcoming arms and were escorted to our villa. We enjoyed the delicious lunch and partook in 2 for 1 drinks at happy hour. When the bar tender discovered I preferred Bacardi Rum to what they offered, he went to a market and purchased it for my next drink! Unbelievable people! The servers gladly held our second round of drinks for after we returned from dinner. Everyone is friendly, helpful, and kind. The outdoor bath and shower were a perfect ending to serene and peaceful day.

SEEDS Restaurant & Lounge: "A sanctuary of Yangon"

Review by: Pedro3584 | Source: Trip Advisor
If you seek a retreat from the hustles of busy Yangon, Seeds is definitely the place you have to go to. Not only the unique ambience and very friendly & professional staff convinces every visitor, it's the heart that Luzia and Felix invest into every single detail. The chef's creations are beyond wonderful in taste and decoration, Felix's truffle ravioli another heart melting surprise. Don't miss it and enjoy your meal :-)

Sandat Glamping Tents: "Romantic getaway"

Review by: Lyndal H | Source: Trip Advisor
"Thanks Sandat for a truly lovely and relaxing few days! Passing through busy Ubud your driver takes you along narrow local roads, passed rice paddies and suddenly you are in a luxurious oasis. We found this to be the perfect mix of serenity allowing us to chill out but close to Ubud's restaurants, shops and attractions when we wanted more action. The staff were attentive but not invasive, the food at the restaurant tasty and fresh (we ate in a couple of times and in Ubud a couple of times), I would thoroughly recommend the Glamping tents for a romantic getaway which is slightly different to a traditional hotel."

The Village House: "A diamond in the middle of nowhere"

Review by: Serendipiti | Source: tripadvisor.com
We stayed here to enjoy a relaxed couple of days after a demanding tour theough malaysia and Borneo and though we have stayed at some of the fanciest and most luxurios hotels in the world we have to admit that the village house is one of the best accomodations we have stayed at. Sure it isn't a five star hotel with such amenities as flat screen tv's, tennis courts, jacuzzis and sorts but it makes up for it by being charming, romantic and being well taken care of. The house itself is as beautiful as it gets and gives you a 'home' feeling right from the start. You are welcomed by the manager herself and she takes care of your every need. If there is anything just let her know and she will find a way to wirl it out for you. Sort of like a good spirit. The girls are really nice as well and take good care of the facilities. The rooms are very well maintained and will be cleaned up twice daily. The food is (compared to malaysian standards) a bit pricey (but compared to western standards still ok) but soooo worth it! We can barely remember having had better asian food than the local Bidayuh cuisine. True, there isn't much you can do or explore around the village house but if you plan on a relaxing couple of days by the pool, maybe read a book then this is the place to go. My husband still claims its 'the best hotel/b&b i've ever stayed at'. We simply loved it!!

Rice & Zen Boutique Resort: "total relaxation"

Review by: epenmin | Source: Trip Advisor
Staff is great !! Stayed here with my sister who uses a wheelchair. From the moment I inquired about accesability, they helped us with solutions for possible difficulties. The resort is small, with lovely cottages, a nice pool area and a pleasant restaurant. The food is another big plus ! Fresh products from their own garden. It's very quiet and not far from Chaweng or Bophut. Would definately stay here again.
