Satri House: "Stunning"
What more can I say other than the Satri House other than it is a beautiful property located about 15 minutes walk from the main tourist strip in Luang Prabang, and fairly east to get to from the airport. Our room was simply stunning, and super modern looking and attractive woodwork, with a high ceiling, four poster super comfy bed, decent sized bathroom (with a large shower area) and amenities - the bed also had a mosquito net which was put down to protect you at night. In addition to that, the breakfast, which was complimentary, was absolutely outstanding and cooked to order and a delight. The staff also helped organise tours for us with private operators which were all excellent and reasonably priced, and were otherwise at hand to deal with any concerns. My only criticism (including of Laos generally) is that the WiFi did not work at all throughout my visit - its a huge problem in Laos generally, and Satri House should really look into what they can do here..Other than this slight technical issue, I cannot speak any more highly of Satri House, the staff or the experience..definitely one for the memories...Rachamankha: "A super oasis of calm in Chiang Mai"
"A proper oasis in the old town of Chiang Mai. It is really beautiful and immaculately maintained - not a leaf or petal out of place. We had a standard room which was fine - spacious and with a lovely large bed. The shower was walk-in and big enough for my husband to use without complaints. The shower has hot, cold, on or off - it was fantastic and extremely strong! There was plenty of free drinking water and for the staff, nothing was too much trouble, at all. The pool area is lovely and while we were there, they replaced the sun beds which were much better! We ate in the restaurant the first night as we got a bit lost when we wandered out of the hotel. It was great - I am surprised by some of the negative reviews. There is a nice selection of both thai and western dishes on the menu and we went for the Thai ones which were very good. Breakfast was amazing. The white table clothed tables were set up in the courtyard and used the beautiful 'antique' crockery. As ever, the service was impeccable. As well as a small buffet there was the choice of a variety of hot dishes, all included in the price. The only downside was the internet - I know that a lot has been said about this and as one reviewer stated, if you want to get away from it all then great, some of us don't have that luxury and I need to check in (home and work) at least once a day. The internet is deeply frustrating and I almost knocked off a star. If the management are reading this PLEASE DO SOMETHING ABOUT THE INTERNET! Overall a super hotel that we would not hesitate to return to."CABOCHON: "French Indochine Chic"
"This hotel is set in an elegant period building down a quiet lane. It has a 1920s period styling with a bit of big game hunter and French colonialism thrown in for good measure. It's not an all-out luxury hotel. It's more an experience hotel, and I had a great experience. IT's like going back in time to a by-gone period which a jarring and interesting juxtaposition from the hustle and bustle happening less than 100m on Sukhumvit. Choose this for a unique boutique experience in central Bangkok. "Sukoon Houseboat: "Superawesome"
Visited sukoon houaeboat on 1/7/15 for 1 night. Awesome experience!! Superb food!! Superb hospitality!! On a higher side if compared to other houseboats, but its incomparable to houseboats!! Its a luxury houseboat!! The staff is very cooperative. Jibin n babu too good!! Visit if u wana seek luxury!! Shikara ride is a must!! Also if lukng for a taxi for complete trip i would recomend out driver mushtaq bhaijaan..(099-06-460370)Excellent person with complete knowledge, knows where to visit and where to shop!!The Island Lodge: "Unexpected gem"
I signed up for a two day tour of Mekong delta and the itinerary simply stated that we will stay in a boutique hotel in the delta. Well, this place is special. We arrived by boat and was immediately immersed in a paradise environment. It is located on the banks on Mekong (one of the rivers of the delta) and it is surrounded by lush landscaping. I took advantage of many bikes they provide and biked around the island, which was very easy trip because of the flat profile. The hotel itself is superb in their services, perfect pool, excellent restaurant and very helpful staff. I felt like in Marguerite Duras' novel for fantastic 16 hours. The only drawback was that I could stay only for less than one day but it was worth it. I need to come back and stay longer, I simply loved it.Tugu Malang: "Quite charming and well worth a visit"
This is a lovely little bijou hotel, filled with Indonesian and Chinese antiques and art, conveniently situated right in the heart of the old town facing a pleasant open square. The architecture, like the rest of the hotel, is slightly idiosyncratic and charmingly individual, which differentiates it from the usual run-of-the-mill ‘international’ hotels. The staff in reception, housekeeping and the restaurant are exceptionally efficient and helpful in a relaxed, friendly way. The restaurant has a wide selection of cuisine – Indonesian, Chinese and international – which often spells trouble, because it is difficult to keep such a range of ingredients fresh. However everything we ate in a week-long stay was fresh, delicious and cooked to a every high standard. If you visit Malang, I would definitely recommend this as a most enjoyable place to stay.Tugu Bali: "Comfort in Canggu"
My wife and I stayed at Hotel Tugu for our Balimoon in early June. This hotel is like a time capsule in Bali. The attention to detail in balancing old and new was perfectly crafted. The hotel manager greeted us at reception which was a great way of welcoming us as guests of the hotel. The hotel grounds are meticulously maintained. My wife and I opted for the Rejang Suite which has a sunken tub and a partial view to the beach. The timber interior of the suite with the sunken bathtub and daybed felt true to the charm of the Javanese house. The wood framed windows open to a clean ocean breeze. Because we arrived on Thursday, we were able to view the cultural dance performance with our dinner. Again, the attention to detail was not overlooked in this show. The costumes were amazing and actors were great. The hotel also includes a museum displaying objects of its past and Bali. This was a huge value add as you rarely see such items on your normal Bali itinerary. The hotel also includes a private beach deck which is great for having a few Bintangs while watching the sunset. The hotel staff is extremely courteous and friendly. Highly recommend Tugu to anyone in search for true Balinese hospitality and comfort.Rahai’i Pangun: "3D/2N River cruise"
"My wife and I took a 3D/2N river cruise with Wow Borneo in February 2017. The boat was clean and comfortable. We had the superior cabin, which included a double bed and private bathroom. All the guest cabins were air conditioned. 3 meals a day were served on the main deck. The chef aboard was excellent! We certainly never went away hungry. The crew and guide were excellent. Our guide spoke excellent English, which was a major help since we speak very little Bahasa Indonesia. She was also very knowledgeable about the local flora and fauna and also the local culture. She had a really sharp eye for spotting animals on the shore as we passed. Of course the main attraction was the chance to see Orangutans. We were not disappointed. We say them every day of the cruise, and at one point saw 6 in one location. There were also numerous monkeys and birds. This was the best tour we have been on in our year in Indonesia. I highly recommend it."Neeleshwar Hermitage: "Peace and tranquility"
Beautiful, beautiful, rural location. You feel completely out of touch of the modern world and utterly in touch with nature and your surroundings. Amazing spa, best massages of my life and beautiful products to be bought here. As a real yogi I loved the yoga on the beach every morning free of charge! The food was delicious and the staff were so accommodating to my slightly poorly stomach (from previously in my trip) and made me food of the menu to keep me perky!Tugu Malang: "Tugu or not Tugu? Gu! And quickly!"
"If we had to give an example of what a dream hotel would be, well... the Tugu Malang would come in handy! The crazy dreams of an art lover reside in this hotel where you feel at home very quickly. The decoration is just unbelievable, and would deserve a special edition of any decoration magazine. The deluxe room we had was very nice. The staff is very friendly and efficient, even if you are not staying in a suite. The cycling tour with John is perfect! The complimentary tea + + is fab! The swimming pool is great! The guided tour is very interesting. Go! You won't be disappointed!"
