Jings Residence: "Traditional but modern small hotel"

Lovely Pingyao now lies on the high speed train line (300kph) linking Beijing and Xian, and so is very easy to visit by very comfortable trains. We had seen other excellent reviews of Jings Residence and were not disappointed. It is situated in the 'pedestrian area' with access with your luggage almost to the door using electric vehicles from just outside the city walls. The last few metres luggage needs to be wheeled. Reception and the restaurant area are just inside the entrance and then you enter a series of open courtyards off which the ground floor rooms are located. Some of the furniture shows a few signs of wear, but the rooms are still lovely - in ours the bed was the biggest we have ever slept in and stretched wall to wall. As others have said the staff were really nice and helpful. The food here was of a good standard. Knowing of my recent birthday, we returned one night to find a slice of chocolate cake and a good wishes card. They had also scattered rose petals on the bed. On our departure we were given some Puer tea and good luck emblems and this just added to a really memorable and enjoyable two night stay in Pingyao.

Les Maisons d’Itac: "Like home..only better"

"It has been a month since my friends and I had the pleasure to spend the most relaxing time at les Maisons. What can I say, it is a piece of paradise. We were really happy and so relaxed. The staff is more than staff, I really want to describe them as friends and family. Brian, Raiden, Marvin, Rose, Leah and of course Stacy, and our protector and compansion Itac. We miss all of them so much, we get nostalgic and homesick when we look at the pictures and videos we took. Once you have been there, you do not want to leave. If you have to, like us..one will be gripped by this constant wanderlust! Thank you so much for one of the best times! We will be back! FYI, the food is also really good!! =)"

Villa Song: "An amazing oasis of calm"

HCMC is a crazy, busy, polluted, energetic, frenetic place to visit and Villa Song is a gentle oasis of calm on the river where you can unwind from a busy day in the city. If you want to be right at the heart of the city, this probably isn't the place for you, as it's some way out... but having said that, they have a private boat service to take guests into town that operates throughout the day. I found it far better to be out of the city and to have a quieter place to stay instead. The spa is good, the pool is fab and the views, accommodation, food and service are totally worth the premium. Thoroughly recommended!

Maison Polanka: "We felt very privileged"

"We felt very privileged to stay at la Maison Polanka. It is not a hotel; no room number, you take off your shoes before entering your room, someone comes to you with a cold scented towel when entering the property after a walk, a waiter brings you a glass of water when sitting in the garden... Everything is organized to make you feel like you are a special guest! Cathy the manager understands your expectations and is totally dedicated to her job and to make you feel special. (...) The house is authentic, full of charm and character. The garden is amazing and the large pool is warm and always clean. Staying at Maison Polenka made us feel very privileged and we would definitely recommend it for anyone who wishes to find a peaceful, tailored-to-your-needs, beautiful and comfortable place! Manda De Laos: "Great restaurant and wonderful setting"

"We were recommended to try this restaurant and it did not disappoint. Food was fabulous , duck was wonderful as was the Luang Prabang salad. All of this is topped by the wonderful setting - get there early to catch daylight view before sun sets but then candle light makes it magical . Also noted gluten free selection on menu ."

Locavore: "One of the best meals we have ever had"

Exquisite 7 course (+ more!) meal, where our nosy eyes got to spy on all the kitchens goings-on. A must visit for anyone looking for a completely unique and flawless dining experience. I won’t divulge too much, just go.

Reverie Siam: "Out of this world experience"

"We are so glad we booked that place. It was a family reunion and we couldn't have wished for more. It is not only the place itself which is just amazing but the staff as well whom are all so genuinely friendly and warm. Everything was perfect from the time we checked in until out and this memories will last for long. Spoil yourself and book the villas, they are just simply perfect. Tiger Mountain Pokhara Lodge: "Simply the BEST"

"Rarely does one find a jewel like this, where staff and owner are welcoming, friendly and nothing is too much. Marcus and his team really go out of their way to make your stay enjoyable, relaxing, rejuvenating. Then comes the view : simply breathtaking. And the cozy rooms in chalets built of local materials, all conscious of the environment and preserving it. And the delicious food : you can have just about anything you feel like, and much of it comes form their own organic garden, simply delicious! Thank you TMPL for a most relaxing holiday, without noise pollution! I will be back for sure."
