Cabochon Hotel & Residence: "Delightful Period Throw Back"

Review by: RNC C | Source: tripadvisor.com
We wandered down Soi 45 looking for a restaurant that a friend had recommended to us and stumbled on this little gem. We came back and booked a night. The interior design for Cabochon is a throw back to colonial past and it has a delightful old style and authentic ambiance. We loved the service and the traditional Thai/Lao food in the restaurant (the original reason we found Cabochon) was fantastic and we weren't disappointed. Cabochon is a small independent boutique hotel and it basically gets pretty much everything right.

Rachamankha: "a superb accommodation in CM"

Review by: mametank0129 | Source: Trip Advisor
"We held our wedding and stayed at this beautiful property last month. We have booked two suite rooms facing the library garden (if you know where the hidden library is) and a few superior rooms. Our family and guests loved the peaceful and oriental ambience of the property. Located in the old city, waling distance to Wat Pra Singh, Oasis Spa Lanna and Sunday night market. only 10-15mins drive to the airport. If you would like to stay away heavy touristy area and would like to enjoy the resort indulgence and retreat, this could be an option. If anyone is also considering a destination wedding at non-beach location in Thailand, highly recommended!! The hotel does not offer a package but will customise according to your needs and preference. We would like to thank you for Rachamankha to have made our big day successful and memorable! We would love to visit and stay on our anniversary day again! Please note that the hotel does not allow a child under 12 years though. Stayed February 2017, traveled as a couple"

Inle Princess Resort: "How disappointing"

Review by: rodgs | Source: Trip Advisor
"We travelled by car to the resort because our boat transfer was cancelled due to poor weather. We finally arrived at the resort down a dirt track and parked under a lean to. We were greeted by a young gentleman who said he would take us to our room. I had to ask if we were in the right place as it looked nothing like the photos on the net. He assured me it was. As we progressed, it soon became obvious that we had come in the back entrance. Our feelings went from total disappointment to one of elation. Check in was simple and efficient. Our room was clean and spacious. I could comment that there was not enough light in the room, but the intimacy it provides is all part of the charm of the place. The staff were most helpful in all areas and their genuine happiness could not be faulted. Like most of Myanmar at this stage, the SMALL imperfections in most places when compared with other 5star establishments in the rest of the world are what makes its charm. The breakfast offering is most probably a bit average but adequate. We would happily stay again and have no problem recommending it for any other couple."

The Governor’s House: "Relaxing place into a colonial house"

Review by: joanbabot | Source: tripadvisor.com
"Cute 3-floors colonial house with a nice pool in the back of the hotel including chill-out terrace. 8 rooms only makes you feel like ""at home"". Room no. 1, next to the pool to be recommended. If you are lazy to go out, try restaurant. Notice choice of dishes at excellent quality at very affordable prices. I would recommend this hotel for short stays to PP traveling with friends or couples."

Jing’s Residence: "A Very Special Hotel"

Review by: Anne D | Source: Trip Advisor
We had a wonderful night at Jing’s Residence. Our room was lovely, very clean, with special attention to detail. We had an excellent dinner there and a very nice breakfast the next morning. We only wish we were able to stay one more night to take advantage of everything they offered.

Golden Buddha Beach Resort: "Paradise"

Review by: “Paradise” | Source: Trip Advisor
"This is one of my favorite places in the world. As soon as you wade ashore off the long tail boat that drops you off you know your somewhere special. It's a wonderful escape from work, city living and the world. There's nothing to do here but relax. A 10km long beach with pretty much no one on it and beautiful water. Small islands and mangrove swamps to explore by kayak. Beautiful beach homes to kick back in. The option of yoga in the morning and massage any time of day. Stayed January 2017, traveled with family"

Inle Princess Resort: "Birthday Dinner"

Review by: Plum378 | Source: Trip Advisor
"We came to Inle Princess from another resort on the other side of the lake for a special birthday dinner organised by our agent. We were due to eat on the private island but unfortunately it was raining very heavily, so we ate in the wine cellar instead. I can't compare the wine cellar to the island as I never saw the island BUT the wine cellar was sooooooo gorgeous, I wasn't sad at all that we were moved. When we walked in, they'd decked it out with rose petals and candles in lotus pads. The table was made of a long canoe and the ceiling had this incredible painting of life on Inle on it. It was honestly the most beautiful wine cellar I've ever seen. They put some traditional music on and we had a waiter attending to our every need. We were then treated to a bottle of champagne and a six course feast. We started with home made breads and chutneys, then had a crispy pancake with herbs. The fish course was eel caught in the lake which we were dubious about but my goodness, it was delicious! Next came a cheese pastry with loads of yummy melted cheese in it. The main course was a selection of three meats plus a huge shrimp served with cauliflower gnocchi. The chef then came out to bring us desert herself, which was a trio of three homemade mouses served on a mini canoe. It was so pretty. She told us a bit about the food we'd eaten. Then to my surprise in burst ten or eleven resort staff, complete with a guitar and a chocolate cake, and sang happy birthday to me. They presented me with a lovely hand written card and a birthday present. As if this wasn't all enough, they then gave us homemade biscuits and the most amazing herbal tea. By this point I was stuffed and the cake had to come back with us in a box! All in all Inle Princess made this birthday very memorable for me and I wasn't expecting something so lavish. I would highly recommend them for a special occasion and for a unique dining private experience in the wine cellar!"

SEEDS Restaurant & Lounge: "Exceptional service"

The waiters were very helpful and explained in details on the dishes. Food was delicious and well prepared. Atmosphere was good. Chef personally greeted us a few times at the table and even walked us to the door when we left.

Maduzi Hotel: "Exceptional value boutique hotel in BKK"

Review by: samboichip | Source: Trip Advisor
"This was our final stop in BKK before heading home and stumbled across a deal on Agoda for $146 Australian in their classic room. We were blown away with the quality of the hotel and service. From the outside it's pretty underwhelming behind a concrete fence, but you are immediately welcomed by calm, restrained Japanese styling once you step into the lobby; I nice sense of calm from the heat and bustling streets. This place has impeccable decor yet it feels homely. The hotel only has 40 rooms. Plusses include the very large rooms, which include an enormous separate bathroom and jacuzzi. Extremely clean with quality fittings. Well sound proofed and very comfortable beds. The breakfast is different in a good way which was included in the room rate - you can order ala carte (all you can eat) with alternative choices as well as usual hot breakfast - I had the traditional Japanese classic breakfast which was fab (I thought breakfast was exceptional). Coffee was also fantastic (a rare find). You also get a free welcome drink of your choice. Happy hour (2 for 1 deal) also operates from 6pm-12am. All the staff were very helpful and friendly. There is flexible checkout at no additional cost (subject to availability). Interestingly there is a no tip policy! Short walk to Asoke BTS station and directly opposite to a 7-11 on the next corner. Have stayed at a lot of hotels in BKK and this would have to be one of the best ones; 5 star quality at a proportion of the price. As mentioned by other people, the only downside is that there is no pool if that's what you're looking for. Will definitely stay here again. Stayed April 2017, traveled as a couple"
