Rachamankha: "Perfect honeymoon hotel"
"We stayed here during our honeymoon in June 2015 and it was amazing, we loved every minute The hotel is situated in its own grounds so was very quiet and relaxing, when we were at the pool we were the only people so it was like having our own private pool The room was lovely and the bed was comfy, the decor was modern but traditional at the same time, also flip flops, umbrellas are provided The shower was powerful and the Molton brown toiletries were a nice touch Whilst we were here we had a tasting meal and the food was delicious, the coriander salad was amazing, we also had a traditional Thai massage which was great and set the relaxing tone for our stay here The hotel is within walking distance to the town and the temples near by but you can just jump in a Tuk Tuk if you fancy, by the restaurant they have little business cards with a map on them incase your driver isn't sure where to go so I just kept this in my purse whilst out and about I would night recommend going to the elephant nature park of staying in Chiang mai, it was the highlight of our trip"Tugu Malang: "One of the World’s Great Hotels"
"It is rare to find a hotel where service is flawless in every detail: The Tugu Malang, one of the world's few truly great hotels, is such a place: The hotel is of such astonishing beauty and the staff are such nice hard-working people, anxious to please in every way, that the Tugu is in fact a destination in itself. If you have no other reason to stop in Malang, then do so to enjoy the extraordinary pleasures of the Tugu. The rooms are ravishing, each one with some element of art and designed thoughtfully for maximum comfort. Exotic fruits await you; the bed is turned down with a friendly note before you go to sleep. Want your shoes cleaned? They come back polished better than when they were new. Breakfast includes almost unlimited pleasures: the menu is vast and you can combine local and Western dishes. Everything is both artful and delicious and the restaurant setting is a work of art in itself. Afternoon tea is included, with an array of local delicacies, served with the ever-present Tugu charm. The hotel owner has built a world-class museum into the hotel. Seemingly endless antiques and art are fabulously displayed; and the best part is that the hotel supplies a brilliant and knowledgeable tour guide to take you round. My guide was Wahyu, who clearly loves the hotel and told me he takes considerable amounts of time to research the objects on display so as to give the best presentation. His tour was completely involving because of his intelligence and enthusiasm -- it felt like being a celebrity receiving a highly-privileged personal presentation from the head curator of a national museum! I do hope that management will recognize Wahyu's excellence and ensure his career development in both museum curating and management! Reception also has the best people: kind, knowledgeable, helpful. They can get you wherever you want in town and make any needed arrangements for you. If you'd like to visit Bromo I'd highly recommend taking the cross-desert route from Malang: it is highly scenic and also quite surreal in places. I did the trip the other way round by ojek (motorbike taxi), but you can also do it by jeep and the Tugu can make arrangements. The ability to take this mindbending route is reason enough to stay in Malang. But you don't even need that reason. The rare graciousness, fragrant beauty, opulence, detailed service and pure delight that exemplifies everything the Tugu stands for means that you should head for the Tugu if you are anywhere in the region for no other reason than to stay in one of the most fabulous five-star hotels in the world at a price for which you would get something only very ordinary in the USA or Europe. This is a best of the best, a treasure, a complete delight: don't miss the opportunity to stay there!"Noel Rodrigo’s Leopard Safaris: "Serious safari"
"These guys are super professional and want you to see animals in the wild - and lots of them, hence lots of hours are spent 'on safari'. Guides are educated and friendly - they know all the species of birds, animals and we always felt confident and safe. And yes we saw leopards - but we also saw loads of other wildlife including elephants and tusker elephants, monkeys, peacocks, water buffalo, leaping gazelle thingo's, the list goes on. The food was exceptional - a lot of attention paid to traditional Sri Lankan cuisine with different food for every meal. Accommodation is not quite glamping but is around the mark with all the necessary quality amenities and your own toilet and shower. This isn't a party place - safari comes first second and third; lights go out early in prep for 5am dawn safari, but the drinks flow ok over lunch and dinner if you so desire. There is also an afternoon/dusk safari if you would prefer to snooze in the mornings. "Mathis Retreat: "Beautiful hotel and surroundings. The staff is charming, the rooms are very confortable and the pool is great"
"The hotel is 15 minutes from the center of Ubud, surrounded by rice fields. It has a wonderful swimming pool, a great restaurant and the staff is very friendly. The attention to detail is impressive. The rooms are large, the beds very confortable, great linen, very good air conditioning ( an important item in this warm and humid climate), fast WiFi We stayed for some days at the beginning of our trip to Indonesia, and returned for more before going home. Highly recommended"Manukan Island Resort: "Wedding anniversary"
Stayed here for four nights in July for our wedding anniversary. Oh my life, it was superb. Getting off the boat is slightly daunting as 100s of day trippers use the island. We went left and we taken to the office given a cool drink and a warm welcome. Our accommodation was breath taking. Up in the hill side, villa 16. Views from the balcony , breathtaking. Inside, large living room, bedroom and very large bathroom with usual array of toiletries. The small kitchen area and fridge, where free water and Coke are provided daily. Beach towels are changed daily. Wifi is good. The food in the restaurant in the evening is ok, although not much choice to be honest. Beer is expensive, we took our own. Breakfast provides lots of choice. We had booked the cabana for our anniversary evening, but due to a double booking we were unable to have it. This was no great loss as the cabana was on a bit of scrub land with no access to the sea. Certainly not worth the money it would have cost. We had an enjoyable evening in the main restaurant being entertained by three amazing musicians who seemed to know every song in lots of languages, they were brilliant. Special mention to chef faridy who makes amazing pasta, waiting staff Chelsea, Jacqueline, Sabray and roger the boss. We would definitely recommend here, its paradise.Blackitch Artisan Kitchen: "An incredible, unique experience. Must do for Foodies"
The calibre of food served here was exceptional. I couldn't find much information online at all after reading about it in the Guardian earlier this year before we went so we took a gamble, and I'm so glad we did. Chef Black served us 9 courses, all surprises and chosen by him, throughout the evening, coming out and explaining in detail each one and why he paired ingredients together. Distinctive fine dining food with an asian influence - lots of fish! We paid 1200 Baht for a bottle of wine (which was absolutely delicious) and 1600 Baht each for the food. If you're some who loves fine food and the complexities of pairing, go with an open mind and you won't be disappointed.Tugu Bali: "Awesome hotel!"
"We stayed at tugu for the beginning of our honeymoon, the location is unbeatable we were in walking distance to the beach and to shops and great food. Staff was attentive and friendly and very helpful! We were mostly in town for surfing so we spent only evenings at the hotel but the pool gorgeous and the day beds close to The beach offer a great sunset view of the beach. We will be back hopefully!!"Manda De Laos: "Great food, stunning location"
"This place serves great food, but the view is simply out of this world. Sit by the pool if you can. The staff spoke excellent English and the management is French. Their professionalism shows. This simply is an excellent choice to eat great food and make happy memories."The Village House: "Great romantic hideaway"
"We stumbled across this hotel by chance after being deeply disappointed and cancelling our reservation with Damai Beach Resort. As soon as we walked through the door I knew this was the place. The host came out to greet us and we enjoyed a refreshing welcome drink. It's a fantastic place for couples. Very relaxing, chilled with great food. I especially enjoyed the hammocks with a good book. We took advantage of the free cinema and games room every night which was a nice touch!"Inle Heritage Stilt Houses: "Just perfect!"
Stayed February 2017, traveled as a couple"
