Chakrabongse Villas: "Paradise In Bustling Bangkok"
"Shhhhhh" you might want to keep this gem of an inn a secret. As a frequent traveler to Thailand you understand that overnighting in Bangkok is often necessary due to midnight arrivals and 1am departures. We were SO ready to get out of the airport hotels. Set on the banks of the Chao Phraya River, tucked into Old Bangkok, this former royal home of HRH Prince Chkrabongse is a tranquil haven from the noise and stress of Bangkok. Next trip, allow time to rediscover Bangkok as it once was. Each one of the six rooms has a personality all its own. Standard double rooms are Moroccan style, the Riverview and Chinese suites are located in a separate buildings and have fabulous river views from private decks. Rooms are luxuriously appointed with antiques and fabrics that enhance the feeling of stepping back in time. (...) We had the pool all to ourselves as with only six rooms we rarely saw other guests. This place gets a 10 out of 10 on the romantic scale. And, for jaded travelers this place reminds you why we do it. Just make sure that you write down (in Thai) directions for Taxi drivers to get you back to the inn should you go out for the evening as even the local taxis can't find this place. An added bonus is the #1 school for massage two blocks away... 2 hours massages for approx. USD 30. Discover and keep this secret for yourself!Tugu Lombok: "One of the best hotels I have ever been in!"
I can absolutely recommend the Tugu Hotel Lombok! The staff was extremely nice and helpful! The rooms and hotel area is very beautiful! You can book diving and snorkeling trip, have long and nice walks on the beach and they will even organize you a lovely dinner on the beach. Thank you again for everything, I will come back.Slow Villas and Spa: "A very private and very chic hideout that is difficult to beat"
"We stayed in Slow Vilas last week of July 2016. Tucked away in a more remote part of Gili Air, Slow was the perfect place that combines desert-island and experience with locals and the highest quality of comfort, local antique furnishing and charm. We felt Slow was right at the other end of the spectrum of an impersonal resort, where everything is designed to work with the local community, local taste and eco-friendliness. The hard-working expat' Julie running the place has a strong enough personality to transmit her energy and passion for her desert-island project / concept into her guests ; while making sure that everything is run to the highest standards to keep everyone happy. This is truely one not to be missed. Island-bliss..."Cheong Fatt Tze – Blue Mansion: "5 star accommodation with culture and heritage"
A beautiful property, rich with history, culture and heritage. It transports you back to a different era once you walk past its gates. The tour is a must to appreciate the history of the mansion. Heaps of beautiful settings for unique photographs. Strategically located in the heart of Georgetown and walking distance to the famous Penang Street Art. A brilliant experience for my teenage boys who who up until now have only been exposed to modern holiday accommodation!Cheong Fatt Tze – Blue Mansion: "Pretty as the pictures"
We stayed here two nights rather than the three scheduled because of a change in itinerary. Room was gorgeous, pool and gardens the same. Probably the best breakfast we had throughout our stay in Malaysia (mostly in Borneo). Front desk staff helpful in answering our questions, set up a day long tour with local guide, to visit the specific sights we wanted to see. All around excellent. We just wish we could have stayed the extra night.Muang La Lodge: "Total relaxation – piece of heaven in Laos"
"Set by the confluence of two small rivers, the Muang La Lodge is a piece of tranquility set in a picturesque location. Comprising of 10 rooms all in pairs of buildings either along the river or in the lush grounds. The river rooms are certainly worth the little extra cost to secure. It is a 5 hour drive up from Luang Prabang through some spectacular scenery but the journey is well worth it. The lodge provides inclusive meals - there is little else in the village near by - but these are excellent. All the staff are local and the chef, who we understand had been there six years, is very talented. There is a five course set menu each evening though they go out of their way to accommodate likes and dislikes ensuring everyone has a wonderful time. The managers whilst we were there were French and on call pretty much 24/7. The lodge also will organise trips out to visit the hill tribes and also treks through the countryside - both very worth doing. There is a bridge linking the lodge to an island in the rivers which has on it an infinity edge swimming pool and a viewing platform to watch the sunset. After dark it can turn cold so fleeces are provided by the lodge and also they will put buckets of hot coals by each dining table - it can get that cold. Really it would be hard to find anything to be picky about here so do go and have a relaxing time. Stayed February 2017, traveled as a couple"Satri House: "Excellent Place to end our trip of Laos"
"If you are considering a trip to Luang Prabang do yourself a favour and consider this hotel. We spent 4 nights here at the end of a tour of Laos and would thoroughly recommend this Boutique hotel. The grounds are beautiful, including a swimming pool and the rooms elegant, as one would expect from the former royal residence of Prince Souphanouvong. Our junior suite had a large bedroom, wardrobe area, huge bathroom with bath, separate shower and two washbasins and a separate loo. Plus an outside private balcony which overlooked the lilley pond. In the evening the staff would come in, prepare the nets around our four poster bed and put drinking water by the bed. Staff were all polite and service very good. Our package included breakfast served until 10.30 which was cooked freshly to order and of a good standard. Although a choice it is basically eggs, bread, cereal, yoghurt and tea/coffee, or noodle soup. We stayed over New Year where there was a Gala Dinner, including local dancers, floating candles and a small disco, which was very nice and in keeping with the surroundings. Wifi available free in rooms and ok by pool, but found it dropped off in the front courtyard. There is a spa should this be of interest to you. The hotel is situated about 5 minutes walk along the main road to the start of the Night Market and if you want to go to the river it is a 10 minute walk, all very easy, however there was always a Tuk Tuk or taxi outside the gate should you not wish to walk. There are also Bicycles for guest use if you wish. The flight path goes over the hotel so there are a few planes overhead during the daytime, but not that many or that noisy that it interferes with your enjoyment of the stay."tugu lombok: "A little bit of paradise”"
"We have just had a 4 night break at this lovely Hotel. It has all of the wow factors and the staff treated us like royalty. It is a wonderful place to have a peaceful break away from the stress of work or city life and highly recommended. A word of warning about travelling to Lombok. Try and get a direct flight. We travelled from Singapore via Jakarta and had to change terminals which was a nightmare. We were given conflicting information about baggage and terminal numbers, which was all very stressful. "Yandabo Home: "Way beyond expectations"
"Yandabo is probably best known for the Treaty signed in 1826 which ended the first Anglo Burmese War as well as its famous clay pottery made in an old traditional way from river clay. Yandabo Home is an excellent stop on the ferry journey from Bagan to Mandalay or vice versa. We stayed two nights into Christmas and had a most enjoyable stay. The ""resort"" consists of 12 spacious rooms with all mod cons. Teak floors, painted grey and cream walls and an excellent bathroom consisting of a large walk in shower, double sinks, a large bed and plenty of space. There is a safe and mini-bar but no TV or WiFi. All the rooms are on the upper decking and the dining area is lower down. Food was surprisingly good and we had the Christmas Eve menu on our second night. This was very good and the kitchen had gone to a lot of trouble to prepare this and with plenty of drinks too! We were very fortunate to meet the owner, Dr Aung Myat Kyaw, a charming man and found out that Yandabo Home is actually part of a number of hotels owned including three in Ngapali Beach as well as one of the cruise boat companies plying the river. The village itself is interesting and there is plenty to see sitting back watching the river and birdlife. Highly recommended."Hotel Tugu Malang: "Great historical place!"
"We had a pleasure to stay at Tugu. This hotel is like a museum -- antique collections from through out Java with some twist of local chinese immigrants house in a very nice Dutch colonial era building(s). Do not miss the complimentary afternoon teatime and snacks. You will also enjoy Melati restaurant located next to the swimming pool serving great traditional and western dishes. I recommend the ZAMRUD room (a step up) — larger than king size bed, huge handmade round bathtub and so on. We wish we had more time to explore the hotel. Perhaps next time."
