tugu lombok: "Paradiso"
This place stunned me. The grounds were beautiful and peaceful. The staff was great and very helpful. Every single thing I ate at the resort was a total culinary pleasure. Breakfast on the beach, candlelit dinner on the rooftop, fresh juice by the pool. We went in the down season and it meant that we felt basically alone. Our room and private pool were so enchanting and the recovered and traditional artwork all over the resort really makes this place something special. Probably one of my favourite places I've ever stayed if you just want to escape. There is also a number of interesting things to do around the resort like visiting the Gili Islands or the volcano. A++Villa Song Saigon: "Best customer service EVER"
Easily one of the best hotels I've ever stayed at. They have a free breakfast meal which you can eat anytime of the day. And the breakfast includes a wide range of options beyond the obvious breakfast dishes. They have a free refillable mini bar in the room (wine, beer, juice, iced tea). The rooms are quite fabulous, try to stay in one that overlooks the river. The pool is quiet and stunning but right near the main entrance so you'll see visitors coming in and out a lot. If you're using Uber to move in and around the city, you can ask the concierge to help in translation. By far the service at this hotel is par excellence.Inle Princess Resort: "Wonderfully relaxing"
We felt at home as soon as we arrived at this lovely resort. We had a lake view chalet close to the boat dock but there was no noise disturbance as boats are not allowed to use power engines when approaching the resort. The room was spacious and had everything that we needed. We loved sitting out on the verandah and taking in the lovely views. The resort handicraft centre is great if you want to try your hand at pottery, Shan paper making, weaving or a range of other handicrafts. The food is very good and the service excellent.Supanniga Cruise: "Stunning Views and Great Food"
"For our last night in Bangkok we had dinner on the Supanniga. It was one of the best nights in Bangkok, really attentive staff, amazing food, one of the best meals we had, and awesome views. I have seen some of the cheaper versions of the dinner cruise, and would definitely pay the extra for a better experience. I would definitely recommend"The Island Lodge: "Shangri-La on the Mekong"
"This hotel enjoys an idyllic location on the banks of the Mekong & everything about it is right. Our room provided a great view of the river & waking up to the dawn chorus of roosters crowing & the gentle murmur of river traffic was a delight. We were then able to move to the balcony & watch the sun rise. Our spotlessly clean room was spacious & comfortable with copious quantities of bamboo in keeping with the location. The bed was large & comfortable with an attached shower room & separate toilet. The food at both dinner & breakfast was superb & my wife commented that her quiche & salad was one of the best she had ever eaten. I still remember the exquisite chocolate fondant. Breakfast was cooked to order so we could have as much as we wanted & nothing was wasted. Service throughout our visit was exemplary. Outside, the hotel has a good-sized swimming pool & sauna with ample sun loungers, complete with parasols, towels & sun hats, for all the guests so there is no need to arrive early & reserve one. We recommend this hotel unreservedly for all ages."Locavore: "One of the best restaurants in Bali"
In short, Locavore is one of the best restaurants in Bali and in Indonesia. Just fantastic on every level and it offers some unique dining experiences. It really is a fun and interesting restaurant with a cool atmosphere. The food is delicious and it manages to tickle all your senses and taste buds. The only option here is the tasting menu (5 or 7 dishes) as there is no a la carte menu as far as I know. All the dishes were unique and creative and combined modern cooking with local and traditional cuisines. I think my favourite was the “Let’s call it a ceviche” fish dish and the “Into the sawah” duck egg dish. Both looked so beautiful and tasted terrific. In short, we all very much enjoyed our dinner here. The only thing that disappointed me was a cocktail that I had ordered, because I think it contained too much bitters. I couldn’t finish it. The food and presentation was amazing though. So, I think I’ll be back when they change their menu.Tugu Bali: "Fantastic hotel with lovely staff!"
We had a lovely stay at Tugu hotel Bali due to the special atmosphere of the hotel, which is actually a small museum of Indonesian art and history. The lovely staff of the hotel made us feel at home and they bring hospitality to the next level. We enjoyed the lush breakfast, which you can have at any time and place you like. Every Thursday night the hotel has a cultural evening, which is a must see with spectacular dancing. Next to the hotel is the Japanse restaurant Ji, which is great for diner or cocktails. At least you should have a look inside as there is an actual temple in the restaurant. Canggu itself is developing fast and new hotels are build in the area, Tugu hotel is gracefully adjusting to the new surroundings and can hopefully capture the unique atmosphere of the hotel in the future. Next time we visit Bali, we will definitely stay at Tugu hotel again!NOEL RODRIGO’S LEOPARD SAFARIS: "Memorable and fun packed 2 day safari in Wilpattu"
"We had high hopes for the 2 day safari, and were not disappointed! Pila was our naturalist host and he drove the jeep and hosted us throughout the safari. He is a knowledgable and experienced guide, very committed to providing a wonderfully memorable and diverse experience. We saw many varieties of birds, mammals and reptiles, often thanks to Pila's sharp and expert eyes. He was happy to provide as much information as we wanted, and carried a selection of reference books on the jeep to add background information to what we were seeing. The highlight was seeing 2 leopards, one up close and magnificent! But we were also delighted by the mongooses, deer, mugger crocs, jackals, painted storks, eagles, brown fish owl, langurs, monitors, turtles, woolly neck storks, adjutants, kingfishers, bee eaters, and many other stars. Pila also educated us about the flora and especially species unique to the area. We observed other professional park guides greeting Pila with respect and deference and realised we were fortunate to be with one of the best. The campsite was in a very natural setting. We had the impression it was actually within Wilpattu National Park, which isn't the case. It's about 15 minutes drive to the entrance. However there were only short queues and the campsite location was fairly peaceful and very beautiful, with plenty of natural sights and sounds. The cook and team produced delicious and beautifully presented food, and all manner of lovely small touches. Cold towels on arrival and each return from game drives, a small library of reference books, torches, campfire, refreshing King coconut water, warm showers on request, solar powered lights in the tent, gorgeous fresh fruit, 4 course meals with plenty to go around. Our first night was on a full moon night, Poya celebration for Buddhists. It was very special to be served a wonderful moonlit dinner in this amazing setting. The second day we were joined by 2 delightful New Zealanders and their Sri Lankan friend, who were great company on the game drives and during our lovely meals, which also added to the magical and memorable experience. "The Island Lodge: "Delightful Oasis"
"We stayed just one night at the end of a Mekong Delta tour. Michel organised our pick up, which was a lovely trip in a long boat. We were greeted warmly on arrival and that feeling continued on during our stay. Staff were very friendly, polite and engaging. The rooms were lovely and well appointed, although a small fridge would have been a welcome addition. The food was good, a nice combination of French and Vietnamese and breakfast was delicious. Fresh bread/pastries and fruit and as much of whatever else as we wanted. We went for a walk into the village and got lost on the way back. The locals were very helpful with directions and eventually we called the lodge and they came and fetched us, we were only 300m away!!"Maduzi Hotel: "Great hotel and very convenient location"
"Summary - great hotel, we were upgraded to a suite as booked through SLH, which was wonderful. Pros -Lovely hotel, suite was huge and bathroom was massive. -Very sleek minimalist decor. -Coffee machine, that made cappuccinos! -Snacks provided daily including drinks, chips, etc. A nice touch. We kept nipping into the nearby 7 11 for beers, water and additional stacks. -Great service. -Great breakfast, although this was only included due to SLH booking. If it is not included it is a little pricey. -Very convenient location to access the rail transport. -Loads and loads of restaurants within walking distance. Cons -We had constant issues with the toilet. It was one of those poorly designed American ones, which tend to block ridiculously easily. However, the staff were great about dealing with the issue on multiple occasions."
