Locavore: "Mind blowing experience"
"As I am new to the fine dining scene I wasn't quite sure what to expect but once the first tasting dish came out it was like a flavor bomb went off in my mouth and woke up taste buds I didn't know I even had and the night got better from there from the 7 starter tasters which seem to never end (trust me I didn't want it too) to the main my partner and I got the 5 course one herbacore and the other locovore it was the best way to go so we got to sample each others food yes they were small in size but I couldn't of eaten and more once it was finish we had dessert to finish off but even that was a experience as I don't really have a sweet tooth I was in heaven with the predessert taster then the dessert then the final dessert sample board neither I or my partner could fault our night at all it was culinary delight with amazing produce which is as fresh as you could possibly ask for yes the staff could use a few lessons on how to talk abit slower and louder as we couldn't really understand what we were eating but that just added to the excitement seriously looking forward to returning next time I'll be doing the 7 course with drink pairing Highly recommended and yes its pricey but if you were to go to Melbourne new York London or anywhere else for the quality you'd probably put a extra 0 on the end of the bill Great concept from a fellow Aussie and dutch working together highly recommend"Maison Polanka: "Even better than advertised!"
"To have seen the gorgeous pictures on their website and read the lovely descriptions, one might say “not possible”, but somehow, Maison Polanka manages to exceed one’s expectations --greatly! Our group stayed in the Khmer House and Green Room. Both are spacious and full of character, with an impeccable and sophisticated mix of contemporary and traditional decorations. But rest assured that here style does not come at the expense of guests’ comfort: Extremely comfortable beds; powerful and responsive AC; inviting bathrooms with walk-in showers; indulgent bed and bath linens and amenities; everything spotlessly clean; etc. (...) Service was extraordinarily attentive. At Maison Polanka, our needs and wants were not simply met, they were anticipated. A few examples of the innumerable gestures of hospitality and warmth extended to our group by Cathy and every one of the staff at Maison Polanka : Throughout our four-day stay (amidst the steamy and broiling heat of September ...), every single time we came back to the hotel, no sooner did we walk through the gate when we would be met with chilled towels and a smile; our group was eternally grateful for the abundant supply of chilled towels (with menthol) and bottled water that Maison Polanka so thoughtfully sent with our touring van; knowing our tight schedules, Cathy and Harold worked tirelessly and thoughtfully (and even with last-minute revisions) to be sure that our tours and shopping excursions met our interests; Cathy knew our flight details better than we, and she and Harold were the ones who kept checking with our airline for the most accurate updates while we shamefully lounged around; the yogurt at breakfast was so good, I offered a taste to a friend; within minutes, yogurt magically appeared on her tray. By the way, there is a great deal of talents in the kitchen at Maison Polanka where the preparations reflected a preference for refined nuances and where the presentation was visually stunning : We fell in love with Cambodian cuisine here (...) To the owners of Maison Polanka and to everyone of their amazing staff: thank you for creating for your guests this haven in Siem Reap!"Rice & Zen Boutique Resort: "Most amazing place I’ve ever been"
"The sea dance hotel was just the most beautiful place I have ever stayed. I spent months searching for a decent hotel for our holiday and when I found this place and spoke to the manager I thought it must be too good to be true. From being greeted at the airport for our included airport transfer to the hotel I felt Instantly at ease. We were brought to the reception area and were given welcome drinks and cool towels which was just lovely after the long, hot journey we'd had. The resort is something you wouldn't expect it has a lot of growth around every bungalow. Bamboo and bushes making each bungalow private. It is all just so natural. They even grow their own vegetables! We were shown to our room, given a tour around it and then a quick tour around the important places of the resort. The room itself was just magnificent, so clean, smelled so fresh and fresh flowers on the bed, in the bathroom and on the dressing table. It was all just so breathtaking. Our bungalow looked out onto the restaurant and if laying in bed you could just see the sea. Our bungalow had a plunge pool which was perfect as the heat was unbearable for me as I'm a bit of a wimpy English lass, but the pool did really help a great deal. The restaurant. The food. The pool. The cocktails. I could go on but they were all just so amazing. We ate there a few evenings it is quite expensive, but it is worth the expense. The food is just out of this world, the owner poy recommended a few dishes for us and I have never eaten anything quite like it. The breakfast also is just lovely, we stayed for 10 nights and sure yes I was craving chocolate pancakes, I asked and they made them for me, so accommodating and will do what they can. Cocktails at happy hour are just the best and such good value for money however I would pay for them full price as they were just delicious and they always came with a lovely chat, smile and good company from the staff or people around the bar. The beach around the hotel is pretty jaggy on your feet. I found that out the hard way! But it's beautiful to sit on the loungers on the beach with a cocktail watching the waves, lightning and sunset. It's a beautiful little area with such beautiful views and very quiet. They also let you lend their kayaks which we did a few days and rowed our way out and along the sea a few times. Such fun! The resort is a little way out of town. It is about a 45 min walk to chaweng, 20 min to chongmon. Taxis are about 300/400bht. But if you catch a zongtou (I think that's it, bit like a tuktuk) you can get places pretty cheap 60/100bht for 2. However the best way to get around would be to hire a scooter from just outside the hotel. 200/250bht for 24hrs. When we go back we will hire for the week. This place is a family run place. From the moment me and my partner stepped into the car at the airport to the moment we left We felt like part of their family. We were invited to a night out with the owner, his sister and a few others on our first night which was just amazing! They are such wonderful people and it really does reflect on the experience we had because they defiantly made it the perfect holiday but in a non overpowering way. They knew the right amount of conversation to have with you and when you just wanted to have some time alone. I miss this places every day and writing this makes me sad as I want to be back so badly! If you go here you will love every minute. Me and my partner are 25/26 and it was honestly the best experience of our life to date. ❤️❤️ Stayed October 2016, traveled as a couple"tugu bali: "Bali at its best"
"You are surrounded by fabulous art and exquisite architecture and that Balinese attention to every detail... Tugu is pricey but is a worthwhile splurge. The vibe is very colonial era, and the charm is for REAL (but, the wifi works fine too). When we needed proper Balinese formal attire to attend a religious ceremony (Melasti) on the beach, the staff lovingly suited us up in style... Tugu rocks it: Service ✔ Spa✔ Restaurant ✔ Beach ✔ Performances✔ The most beautiful room and bath tub ever✔ This is the real thing folks, this is what you come to Bali for. "Mathis Retreat: "Excellent Rice Paddy Retreat – With the Family"
"We were looking for a secluded spot near Ubud, but not in the heart of the action and that was good for families. We have two small children (infant and 2 year old). The Matthis retreat was perfect for us. It was a quick taxi ride to downtown Ubud OR a long walk. The rooms were excellent for 3 adults and two young children. Pool was nice a cool and deep! My daughter loved to walk out along the rice paddy's and look at the ducks! Room Tip: Our room did not have a view, but there was a section that did."Tandjung Sari: "A grand old lady!"
Whether you love Tandjung Sari as much as I did, or not, will depend on your perception of what constitutes a 'good' hotel. If you are looking for the height of modern luxury and state-of-the-art technology, this hotel is probably not for you! It is, however, the perfect choice for anybody wanting accommodation which oozes old-world style and class and which is full of charm and grace (...) I could not speak more highly of the staff, all of whom were gracious and graceful in their approach to guests -- they made me feel like an honoured guest rather than a mere paying customer. This was a brilliant experience -- just writing about it fills me with a warm glow -- and I very much hope that I will be able again to sample the delights of this grand old lady, Tandjung Sari. If you are thinking about it, do it!!Rachamankha: "We had a perfect time!"
"Perfectly romantic for our Honeymoon. Great service (booking tours, printing documents needed...) Very good breakfast (fewer items but all very fresh) Gorgeous architecture, amazing swimming pool, great location to explore the old city on foot or by tuc tuc. Can´t remember any downside of this place"Tugu Malang: "A real jewel"
With a collection of Javanese and Chinese art to make a museum jealous and good rooms, pool, and food - what more could you want. Staff friendly and helpful. The afternoon tea with delicious and unusual Javanese sweet dishes was delicious. Would gladly stay againMaison Polanka: "An oasis of peace and calm"
"We stayed in the Yellow Room for 3 nights in late January and left totally enchanted by the place. As others have said, it is an oasis of peace and calm set in a lush, well-tended tropical garden (with its resident pet rabbit and dog!). We didn't feel like hotel guests; more like special guests in a private home. Their attention to detail and many thoughtful courtesies are exemplary. In our view, Maison Polanka's greatest asset is it staff. Francis, Cathy, Sopharan, Nian etc. are so welcoming, helpful and efficient. Nothing was too much trouble for them. And everything done with such warm, lovely smiles! Stayed January 2017, traveled as a couple"Cuca: "Best Tapas in Bali"
"If you are willing to get out of the Seminyak strip, this is most definitely worth the effort. Minimalist decor & concrete floors with an open kitchen is a hive of highly organised activity. The tapas style food is innovative, fresh and totally delicious. The owner/chef made himself known at our table and was so enthusiastic about all the local Balinese produce used to create his incredible dishes, the 'Bali Breakfast' is a must. Do yourself a favour.... GO!!!"
