"from the moment we walked in the door.....we fell in love with this place.....we can not recommend it highly enough! if you want something special, tucked away, unexpected with the most divine attentive staff.....this is it! we will only stay in this gorgeous hotel whenever we choose to visit this city. a very very special place indeed! the attention to detail, the drinks and cocktail choices are just perfect and the rooms to enjoy them in....are so so beautiful. a thai restaurant too with delicious food, a swimming pool, everything is here. all I can say is, we just don't want to leave.....its the perfect get away in a busy bustling city that can be very overwhelming. "Very nice ambience and staff. The food is good (very different) but you expect this difference when you are going to a restaurant that specializes in local food that is not from your country. The only thing I didn't like about this place is that I told them about my ginger allergy before going and until we were there they told me that I could not have almost half of the menu that they prepared and only gave me the option to eat from the vegetarian menu. I told them that i really wanted something with fish and they tell me that they couldn't. Every restaurant that we've been in Asia had given me the option to make similar dishes to the ones in the menu and just without ginger or they even made different sauces and had them before we came in. Fantastic. Despite not seeing any leopards (which is very unlucky so we have heard) my family and I had a lovely time. The food was beyond delicious, the staff were so attentive (one staff member per guest) and while it was camping, the set up made it feel very luxurious. The 5am wake-ups were a challenge but were balanced by the yummy breakfast we received on return, and the fun of the safari. We stayed over NYE and the staff made sure to make it a special evening- celebrating a "Singapore" NYE with Moet at 9pm due to our early wake up the next morning. We were even treated to an amazing "leopard dance" by Silva. He was a staff member who is an ex dancer and it was phenomenal!Manda De Laos: "The most beautiful place in all of Luang Prabang to dine!"
We were simply blown away by the setting of this restaurant. You walk in thinking it's just a nice place and then the amazement begins. The dining is alongside many ponds that create a setting of relaxation and wonder. The teens even enjoyed exploring on the paths over the water which were candle lit. The food and service were very good. I wouldn't say every dish was the best, but overall, our party was happy with their food and the waiters were so kind and willing to help, even our fussy eater. "Great place - pure luxury a couple of hundred kilometers north of Luang Prabang. The manager could not have done more to make us comfortable - the food is excellent - and if you need more then they can deal with that (if younger them know). It's not cheap - by Lsos standards - but compares very well with other luxury hotels. Breakfast was brilliant - for the Pain au Chocolat they must flythe flour in from France and have a real French oven. Idyllic traditional Cambodian house nestled in a stunning garden in the backstreets of Siem Reap. Staff were charming and efficient and always ready with cold face towels after sweaty trips to the temples. I like every thing about Cabochon, but mostly the serene and peaceful atmosphere. Despite the very obsessive attention to design details, the overall atmosphere is of ease and friendliness. The food at the restaurant is good. Breakfast is a bit cramped and the small buffet could/ should be improved - the fruit section in particular. One small thing this time the music in the public areas was rather loud, and we had to ask if it could be turned down a little. But these are details. I stay at Cabochon every time I go to Bangkok and I love it.Satri House: "Luxury"
A beautiful small resort in the garden of a former palace, which is well renovated, while the new parts are tastefully added, surrounded by a lush and quiet garden. 2 swimming pools, a restaurant and a spa complete the retreat. Superbly decorated, big rooms, ours was with a balcony with all privacy. Roomservice was perfect, they bring a small snack in the afternoon and prepare the room for sleeping in the evening. Breakfast was good (even so the espresso was a payable extra, a bit stingy considering the price). The staff very friendly and helpful - some extra english lessons for them would be good... Location wise a bit out of town, but in a walkable distance or an easy and cheap trip with tuktuk - the advantage of absolute quietness worth.
