Muang La Lodge: "Most charming Xmas Eve ever"
We stayed in this absolutely beautiful small resort for two nights. We were fortunate that we had a short journey, having flown to the nearest town and been picked up by the resort's car and our guide. We thought the location absolutely stunning and the staff even more fabulous. Our trek into the hills on Christmas Eve could not have been better (even down to the picnic lunch we carried with us from the resort) and the Christmas Eve entertainment which ended with us lighting Chinese lanterns was just magic. The atmosphere was fantastic!! The staffs were very professional and nice. I loved the hotel so much I took so many pictures inside the building; the library space, the hallway, our rooms and the bathroom, and the view from our room!! I absolutely loved the coconut juice served right off a young coconut at check-in!!! Very original dishes mixing French and Cambodian savours. Great results as all the dishes we had were really delicious! The atmosphere of the restaurant is remarkable, spacious and traditional, perfect for romantic dinner. Last but not least, across all the restaurants I was lucky enough to try in Asia, I hardly met people as dedicated and nice than at Cuisine Wat Damnak. I can't eat a wide variety of food, and it can be particularly tricky specially for fishes (some I can, some I can't)... Carole Salmon was kind enough to follow-up with me days in advance to accommodate the best meal possible, and proactively warning me about sauce I could eat or not. Cuisine Wat Damnak was recommended to me by my friends who traveled in Siem Reap before me, and I will do the same to anyone who go there - if there is one restaurant to try, that's really it!David’s Kitchen: "Wonderful food and service"
All the reviews say it all. If you are visiting Chiang Mai and your budget allows this restaurant is a must. Prices are about the same as a good restaurant in the UK. Food is exceptional, very large choice to suit all palettes. Great wine list. The service is very attentive nice touch is that David greets dinners. The best hotel we have ever been to (and we have been to a lot of 5 stars). Wonderful for honeymoon and any romantic vacation! Simply perfect! A spa with the best massages and treatments ever. One little minus for the fitness room, which is really nothing in comparison with the wonderful rest. Beautiful property, great beach, amazing food. "Went for a Karma Mantra (Chakra Awakening) massage and what an amazing experience. Very powerful and beautiful space. One of the best massages ever so I ended up booking a second one 2 days later before I left Bali to experience again. Worth every penny. Powerful ceremony after the massage after which time a plate of fruit is delivered. Nice space to integrate the energies. Must try. Also had lunch at hotel and it was amazing.
