Les Maisons Wat Ko: "Typical Khmer House in a lush garden"
"It took a bit of time to book a place in Battambang. We ended up at Maison Wat Kor, which is in a village outside Battambang. We liked our choice, since the town is pretty noisy and not too beautiful, while the village was very nice. Maison Wat Kor is great and the rooms are in typical khmer villas, very spacious, with high ceilings and dark wood furnitures. We had a lotus room upstairs, so we also had a very nice terrace with a couple of chairs, a table and a great view on the garden. The pool was great as well. After a day out at 35 degrees it was so relaxing and refreshing to take a swim. We had dinner at the hotel one night, they have daily menus that they can adapt in case you're vegetarian (as I am) and dinner was good. All the activities we did have been organised through the hotel. You might need a tuk tuk every time you go out, so please try to stick with the same driver. It's a great income for them, in particular when it's not peak season. Our driver was great and it was also very funny and nice; it took us to eat in places where he would have had lunch, he told us about his life and more in general life in Cambodia, it was very interesting to hear from someone local who doesn't need to sell you a perfect image of a country. His english was also great, which is not common in Cambodia. We went to the Circus twice in Battambang and I'd recommend to everyone to do so. The concept behind the Circus school is great, the shows are really entertaining and it's a great way to spend the night. There are 3 different shows every week, and there is a total of 5 shows per week: check with the hotel for the show and the dates as the other info we had from travel guides and internet were not up-to-date. We spent 3 nights in Battambang, maybe 2 nights would have been enough. My husband also got a massage at the hotel and it is the one he loved the most during our trip. As almost everywhere in Cambodia, everyone was extremely polite and kind, the staff would really do anything to please you and they were always talking to us using our names. I found pretty sweet the picture of Angelina and Brad on display at the reception and outside the room they stayed in...I guess the only thing that we didn't find great was the transfer option to Sihanoukville, which the hotel initially offered us for $180 (vans and bus are much cheaper, but unfortunately my husband's back was not 100% and we opted for private transfers this time); in town we found the same transfer for $120, so either negotiate or go to the town, as this is the current price for a transfer. Maison Wat Kor is a calm oasis with the kindest staff and the best atmosphere. You're going to love it. Room Tip: We loved our Lotus Room close to the pool (upstairs so we got the terrace as well)"Satri House: "Like home: in a prince’s former residence!"
"Staff is just wonderful, always going ""the extra mile"", if, for example, you appreciate an extension of your booked room to take a nap until it's time to leave for the airport. Food, both lunch and dinner, is most delicious. Rooms are spacious, quiet, all with wifi. Pools and lots of lovely areas to relax...Library and fireplace: perfect setting for a glass of wine,- or two... All in all: I wish them every success! They deserve it!"The Apsara Rive Droite: "Fantasic"
"We had tried Tamarind a few yards along the road but they were fully booked so we walked on and found this place which seemed better. Took a great table on the terrace, plenty of room and overlooking the Mekong, couldn't have bee better! We enjoyed a really fabulous meal, plenty to eat and drink with the most sublime dessert. Two beer Lao, one vodka tonic, Khan Soy, Fried Mushrooms, Fish Cak, Tapioca, green veg for 363,000. Totally awesome with great service. Stayed December 2016, traveled with family"Tiger Mountain Pokhara Lodge: "A visit to paradise"
"I had another destination in mind for my Easter holidays, but a friend told me I had to go to Nepal, and especially to Tiger Mountain Pokhara Lodge. Great advice. The lodge is beautiful, in a magnificent location, and very comfortable. Every member of the staff was exceedingly attentive to me as well as to the other guests. Tiger Mountain was the perfect centerpiece of my first visit to Nepal. The staff was ready to make my visit as active as I wanted it to be, with many options for walking and hiking, sightseeing, or simply relaxing at the pool with one of the most fantastic views in the world. The meals were special events in themselves, with a choice of either western or Nepali cuisine. Yes, Tiger Mountain offers a glimpse of paradise. Stayed April 2017, traveled solo"Muang La Lodge: "Best in Laos"
This place is truly exceptional. The attention to detail is fantastic and nothing is too much trouble for the outstanding staff. Quality of food like everything else here is excellent and we loved the 5 course menus each evening. You have to go there!!MesaStila: "Wondereful and Relaxing"
Can't say enough how much we enjoyed our stay at the charming Mesa Stila Resort. Our villa was a wonderful suprise, full of personal touches, and indulgent at the same time. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, and we just sunk into the relaxed pace. There are not enough superlatives for the view - it is breathtaking. Staying here is a privilege and we are grateful for the experience. Although not a typical "child-friendly" resort, our 7 year old daughter was made to feel extremely welcome - she enjoyed the horse-riding and participating in the batik demonstration. Be sure to do the coffee plantation tour - it was so interesting. This place is just beautiful...Labyrinth: "Great Singaporean influences"
I like how the menu is deisgned with our local food in mind. Most of the food executed were excellent. Wines were a little dissapointing though.Noel Rodrigo’s Leopard Safaris: "Honeymoon Highlight"
"We booked the luxury tent as part of our honeymoon. From pick up to drop off everything was 5 star! We had the most fantastic time and staff went the extra mile to make our stay extra special. The room itself was magnificent and we adored being able to shower under the stars. Everything about the room has been carefully thought out and lovingly handmade. The bed was extremely comfortable and we felt safe and secure in the tent. It felt like a tent from 'Harry Potter' as from the outside you would not expect them to be able to fit in so much luxury. The food! Every day we were greeted with a delicious breakfast, lunch and dinner. We even had private dining under the stars and a cookery lesson. I think my favourite had to be string hoppers and the coconut pancakes. Let's not forget the Safari. We managed to see a total of 5 leopards! (a mating couple, a very large male eating a monkey and a mother and cub on our last day!). Praneeth was our guide and he was very knowledgeable. A big thank you to everyone for making it so special, we will remember it so fondly and really hope to come back very soon! Emma and Matty"Heritage Suites Hotel: "Beautiful and serene."
We were recommended to this Hotel by a friend who has lived in Cambodia for may years and has come to know and appreciate the subtlety that Khmer heritage holds ... this property embodies the essence of that subtlety. Form our transfer pickup in veteran Mercedes saloons to the welcome and registration process, everything was luxurious and effortless; the Suite we stayed in was absolutely glorious, sort of neo-Khmer classical without being ostentatious, and extremely well-appointed. The staff were attentive to all our needs and went out of their way to make our stay both relaxing and interesting; the poolside bar staff were always ready with an ever-available cold drink and recommendations as to which of the delicacies were best with which accompaniments. Similarly, the Restaurant staff were knowledgeable about the history of the dishes and were happy to recommend daily specials. The on-site Boutique and Travel Consultants also were a pleasure to deal with.Rachamankha: "Best place in the old city of Chiang Mai"
"Great location in the old town. Beautifull hotel. Charming and only 25 rooms. Nice room. Great restaurant with great food. Again the waiters do not speak english. How is this posible in a 5 star hotel? Nice pool but very bad hard chairs and no service at the pool the first day we were there. Breakfast is efficiently served A la carte. A bit strange; paper on the table during breakfast. Feels like we are in a cheap Chinese restaurant. In all the best place in the Old City."Travel Asia with Secret Retreats
