The River Resort: "Great resort! Great location!"
"We were a group of 8, friends and family, and all loved our stay at the River Resort. The resort is stunning. The facilities and grounds were designed thoughtfully, are well kept and beautiful. The rooms were clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. The views of the river from the resort are not to be missed. Best part of all was the team at the resort. Mr. Wech and his team took care of us so well from start to finish. They were nice, helpful and a joy to see every day. The resort location is perfect for exploring southern Laos. All the famous waterfalls and Bolaven Plateau were easy for us to get to by van, Wat Phou was only 20 mins away. The resort's proximity to Champasak Town (2km) allowed us to ride bikes into town, play petanque with the locals, visit all the interesting wats. It was also peaceful to spend the day at the resort, getting a massage, swimming, taking in the views and observing river life. Our group very much appreciated having these options which enabled us to experience Laos on different levels. The resort is luxury without the pretense. We loved our stay. I hope to be back there again."Reverie Siam: "The most wonderful hotel I have ever stayed in"
Jobwise I have stayed in some of the fanciest and most expensive hotels throughout the whole world. But this is one of the nicest, most charming, most wonderful places I have ever stayed in. The staff is simply perfect. They don´t breathe down your neck but are always taking care that you might feel even more comfortable. Stylewise this resort reminded me of Luang Prabang and the great architecture of Indochine. Every gramophone, every chair, every pillow has been picked out with perfect style-and I truly would not have blinked if Hercule Poirot himself would have been sitting in one of those inviting armchairs. Situated directly by the river, one has perfect privacy if wanted. The two pools are great to swim and sunbathe and we even had a picknick (we brought ourselves) in the pavilion. I found it very hard to leave but am sure to return. Oh- I forgot to say that the rooms are not only lovely with their big beds, the bathroom with its huge detached tub and all those perfect fittings let you travel back into time. This resort is not only wonderful-is has soul and true style.Hotel Tugu Malang: "one of the best hotels I have stayed in!"
I stayed here twice, both for business. The first one was in June and the second one was in September. Both experiences were amazing, it's like this hotel is flawless! All of the food I had there was scrumptious and presented tastefully. It's close to a nice bakery and great coffee shops, and just 3 minutes away from the train station! I am definitely staying at Tugu the next time I am in Malang .Glenburn Tea Estate: "A delight"
"How do I start to describe Glenburn? At the beginning, I guess. The journey up from Bagdogra/Siliguri is a 4/5 hour drive, and, once you get to the hills, the road twists and turns, is two way only, and has enough slow traffic to make overtaking difficult/dangerous, but, except in the couple of places where the tar has broken up and washed away, it’s OK. The last bit, tho’, when you turn down off the road to Darjeeling and Ghum, is very slow and very bumpy, just as they admit on their website. We came down it in the dark, and it was only two days later when we went up it in the daylight that we could see why it was uncomfortable – it is very poor in places. BUT, please don’t let that put you off! Glenburn is delightful. Set in a working tea estate, with its own tea “gardens” for acres and acres all around, the processing factory a short walk down the driveway, and workers villages dotted down and across the slopes, it is surrounded by green, green hills (or it was in Oct 2016). There are tracks and paths and a road or two through the estate, and down to the river, so walking is lovely. The accommodation is essentially split in two. The original estate manager’s bungalow has a long wide veranda on the front, a lovely “old fashioned” communal dining room, with one big dining table (and maybe 12 chairs round it), a lounge and 4 bedrooms, all with staff areas behind. Then the newer bungalow, set a little lower down the point, has 4 big bedrooms, a sitting room, another couple of verandas and another set of kitchens on one level, with the Spa rooms below. We had the Singalila Suite in the new bungalow. It was big, with very large ensuite bathroom, with walk-in shower, 4 poster bed (with a comfortable, new mattress), teak floors, french doors on one side and a lovely little bay window area to sit and drink our morning “bed tea”, looking out to the west towards the Himalayas – sadly, in the 6 nights we were there (in early October) the clouds never lifted enough for us to see Kanchenjunga, but that was our fault for going so soon after the monsoon. The meals were excellent. Breakfasts were served on the lower bungalow’s terrace, and were fruit, juices, toast, and eggs any way you’d like, plus a daily “special”. The lunches we had were certainly “special” – one day we walked down to the river-side, along to Sikkim and then had lunch of soup, quiches, bread and salads, on the lawn by the “fishing bungalow”, and then walked back-up (that was hot!). Another day we walked up towards the main road and had lunch of carrot soup, tuna sandwiches and salad served to us at a picnic table and chairs set up on the empty roadside, looking at the spectacular views. Diners were generally communal in main bungalow, but on two nights we asked to dine on our own, and were happily served on one or other of the terraces. Diners were varied “curries”, one night Tibetan, another South Indian, for example, but one night it was a “roast”. We stayed 6 nights, so five days, at the start of out trip, and had lots to do. A day trip out to Darjeeling for the Darjeeling/Ghum toy train, and a visit to St Paul’s School, walks around the estate, down to the river and Sikkim, and a tour of the tea factory were all fun – though the walking can be pretty steep if you choose for it to be. We loved it all, but above all, the staff were terrific; the local staff were happy, smiling, and keen to do well, and the managers, Fay and Will, were just super – efficient, kind, friendly and very well suited to their roles. Finally, was the bumpy ride down to the Estate worth it? Without a doubt."Locavore: "Our second time, our second amazement"
"We went to Locavore for lunch, and again, were amazed by the whole experience. As soon as we walked in, we spotted all these amazing chefs working around the tiny kitchen, like ballet dancers except for it was their hands who were at the core of the coregraphy. Except for the ""bienvenue"", there was not a single dish that was in the menu when we visited the first time. And we therefore embarked on a 100% new cullinary adventure. We went for the 7-dishes menu, and all of you reading this and planning to try, please do the same. Yes that's a lot, but you may eat less in the evening if you are there for lunch, or just go for a walk afterwards if you dine there. Portions are perfectly sized, and there was not a single bite when we thought ""hum, pretty good"". It was a ""that's unbelievably good""!!!! We went for a very reasonably priced Tempranillo and it did perfectly match everything. We are lucky enough to often have the opportunity to eat at very good restaurants. Locavore offers one of the very very best value-for-money experience. If not the best. In our opinion that is. Make sure you book several weeks ahead if for dinner. Slightly less for lunch. Just find a way to go!"Poring Hot Spring Nature Reserve: "Fun place to do small vacation"
This place is suitable for the young kid to enjoy playing in the pools and also for the adult to enjoy the hot spring.Villa Song Saigon: "A place to relax"
"We visited Villa Song on our last night in Vietnam. What a wonderful boutique Hotel. The staff could not be more helpful The room we had was on the ground floor with access to the pool area, the room was spacious and very comfortable. The manager was so good he let us purchase an item from his hotel entrance as he said he could get a replacement from Hanoi. Stayed February 2017, traveled as a couple"The Twelve Hotel: "A HAVEN OF PEACE IN Bangok"
Discovered by chance, that's exactly the place we wanted to be well located in Bangkok (Japanese district), not far from the Phrom Phong BTS station, near shopping centers and at the same time lost in alleys , Quietly. Beautiful modern decoration, design .. two pools .. very nice spacious rooms and amazing bedding! A perfect welcome from our hosts (French) who gave us many tips.Satri House: "Just wonderful and charming!"
"Excellent in every way! Top in quality of the rooms decorated with local and colonial furniture, the staff is helpful, the spa was really agreeable, the restaurant is top even if the staff is still lacking a bit of experience in the way of taking orders. For sure, this will be the place I will go back to next time I am in Luang Prabang."Villa Song Saigon: "The most decadent hotel in a peaceful location"
From the moment we got out of the taxi upon arrival to getting in a taxi to leave, the staff were all tremendously helpful, polite and cheerful. They really made everything seem as if it were no trouble at all. Our room was decadent, comfortable and a joy to stay in. To top it off, all of the added perks just made this the most wonderful hotel to spend our short time in Ho Chi Minh in: the Apple TV, the complimentary minibar and the boat shuttle to the centre.
