Glenburn Tea Estate: "Paradise"
We had been told that Glenburn was a special place by others that had stayed, but that goes a little way to describe the experience that myself and my partner had... it's a truly magical destination. Our room Rangeet was stunning, as is the rest of the estate, so beautifully maintained by the meticulous staff and gardeners. We loved the communal dinners, especially the tea themed night which was extremely tasty. The staff throughout our stay were always very helpful and friendly, there is always someone around too. We decided to take the hike down to the river and have lunch there, which was beautiful, as again the food exceptional! I would also really recommend having a massage, one of the best I have ever had... We were lucky enough to see an extraordinary sunset one evening, I don't think there can be another view like it anywhere in Darjeeling. The whole place, and our stay felt so serene and relaxed that a special shout out must go to Jemima and Holly who manage the place and are obviously making sure things run so smoothly - thanks you two! My only complaint would be the road, lucky for Glenburn they have some of the best drivers in the world! Can't wait to go back.Reverie Siam: "Bucolic Bliss"
Following a vertigo-inducing drive through the precipitous one-lane highway from Chiang Mai to Pai we were greeted effusively by the staff at Reverie Siam. Check-in was pleasantly brisk and we were whisked away to our villa. Rather than succumbing to any ephemeral breezes of fashion the hotel's owners have brilliantly transformed this tranche of Pai into a Curacaoan hideaway, circa 1920, complete with orange cobble stone walkways, vintage street lamps and impeccable landscaping. Our villa, with its double antique doors overlooking the rugged mountain landscape and the continuously evolving dramatic skies, was intelligibly designed with a panoply of accoutrement accentuating the hotel stylistic essence. Being lit only by the crepuscular gloam the private terrace overlooking the gardens was ideal for a late-afternoon aperitif. Reverie Siam's executive chef, Dustin Joseph, perhaps more aptly described as a gastronomic savant, has created an inspiring culinary program based on his years of international food exploration. The modest-and almost insultingly inexpensive-menu features mostly local fare harmoniously fused with premium western ingredients. The wine list offers a handful of decent labels however there are plans of expansion in the near future... A veritable riparian gem amidst Thailand's northern luscious landscapeSupanniga Eating Room: "Tasty"
The food that we ordered all good and tasty. The green curry is delicious and the pork meat also tender and excellent. The place is small and tend to be crowded but i think that common as many people also read good review of this place. The place is close to our stay in Somerset and easy to find.RACHAMANKHA: "Slice of heaven in Chiang Mai"
"This hotel was absolutely beautiful and a refuge to come home to after a day strolling the busy streets of Chiang Mai. There is always a wonderful aroma of incense around the property...I think it was Sandalwood, but nevertheless was just delicious. The rooms were spacious and the bed was so comfortable, again after a long day. The lounges that surround the property are also delightful and I just wish I had had more time to sit and read and enjoy a drink while enjoying the decor. It is an elegant property, yet not stuffy and very welcoming. "Maison Polanka: "Awesome stay"
Staff there made our day when we stayed with them. Maison Polanka is a lovely wonderful hotel which we used to encounter in Asia and Europe. Breakfast is great, swimming pool is so charming and inviting us to relax there most of the day.Discover Muang La | Visit Laos | Luxury & Boutique Hotel: "Beautiful, peaceful, luxurious, a class act"
"The title sums up how we felt about this magical place. The location in Muang La is perfect - far from the disney-land tourist circuit of Luang Prabang (and a beautiful but bendy 5-6 hour drive from there as well!), it's remote but therefore also perfectly situated for exploring the nearby rugged countryside with organised private trecks through the hills, visits to the various ethnic groups and their time-locked villages, followed by a dip in their own natural hot spring and a delicious 5 course meal every evening overlooking the river. The managers Raphael (Swiss) and Job (Dutch), are at the top of their game and do a magnificent job of making you feel like royalty from the moment you arrive until the moment they wave you goodbye on your onward journey. I advise booking at least 4 nights, a package which includes free beer and wine at dinner as well as a free massage and gives enough time to really settle down and experience it all. If you visit Northern Laos and have the budget (not cheap but looking back it feels like truly great value), this place is a must."Yandabo Home: "wonderful facility"
Located along the river we were lucky only d.etre overnight. Serenities a bubble in the middle of nowhere. The bungalow is new, spacious beautifully decorated with a large bathroom. The staff is on hand to make this place unique. The restaurant is very good with traditional cuisine. Breakfast is served at the table and croissants come from afar to satisfy customers. Do not miss .Supanniga Eating Room: "Omg!!"
"Booked this place for our last meal in Bangkok, had a snoop online and reviews looked good. Okay we have eaten everywhere around the world, 2 Michelin Star restaurants etc and this is some of the best food I have ever eaten, seriously out of this world. The Red Crab Curry was to die for, however for me the Sea Bass was 10/10 and I am sat at the airport typing this still smiling, great meal! One for the bucket list when visiting Bangkok Do. Yourself a favour though, order your starters, chill, eat them, have a drink and then order your main, it's worth enjoying this one"Satri House: "Excellent Place to end our trip of Laos"
"If you are considering a trip to Luang Prabang do yourself a favour and consider this hotel. We spent 4 nights here at the end of a tour of Laos and would thoroughly recommend this Boutique hotel. The grounds are beautiful, including a swimming pool and the rooms elegant, as one would expect from the former royal residence of Prince Souphanouvong. Our junior suite had a large bedroom, wardrobe area, huge bathroom with bath, separate shower and two washbasins and a separate loo. Plus an outside private balcony which overlooked the lilley pond. In the evening the staff would come in, prepare the nets around our four poster bed and put drinking water by the bed. Staff were all polite and service very good. Our package included breakfast served until 10.30 which was cooked freshly to order and of a good standard. Although a choice it is basically eggs, bread, cereal, yoghurt and tea/coffee, or noodle soup. We stayed over New Year where there was a Gala Dinner, including local dancers, floating candles and a small disco, which was very nice and in keeping with the surroundings. Wifi available free in rooms and ok by pool, but found it dropped off in the front courtyard. There is a spa should this be of interest to you. The hotel is situated about 5 minutes walk along the main road to the start of the Night Market and if you want to go to the river it is a 10 minute walk, all very easy, however there was always a Tuk Tuk or taxi outside the gate should you not wish to walk. There are also Bicycles for guest use if you wish. The flight path goes over the hotel so there are a few planes overhead during the daytime, but not that many or that noisy that it interferes with your enjoyment of the stay."Jing’s Residence: "Hidden Gem"
This Hotel is fantastic. Set in the middle of an ancient city, the hotel's design and comfort is unbelievable. Excellent food, best service, and the friendliest and happiest staff I've ever met. Loved it!Travel Asia with Secret Retreats
