Maison Polanka: "A haven and a retreat"

Review by: Springhil | Source: Trip Advisor
Stepping back rough the private gates into this beautiful estate with its garden, pool and delightful traditional house and rooms, was a perfect balance for the busy town and temple trips. The team lead by Kathy and Francis were all superb and nothing was too much trouble. We took a package that included guide and transport. We used the massage facilities also. Cold towels on hand as we returned from our trips out, glasses of iced water by the pool was all part of the welcome. just 5 rooms in total meant that it was like a private villa. We stayed in the Green Room in the main house which has a large terrace with seating and fans and is the nicest room being the original sitting room of the house before it was a hotel.

Flower Island: "Tropical Island Paradise"

Review by: Etienne P | Source: Trip Advisor
My wife and I sent several wonderful days at Flower Island Resort. We made the special trip to see the Jewelmer Golden Pearl Farm on our second day. There we were shown how the oysters are propagated and grown. The crew there showed us the process of grafting oysters(where the bead is inserted in to the gonad) as while as the harvesting of the lustrous Golden Pearls. Our room was very comfortable traditional native hut with modern conveniences such as air conditioning and hot running water. We really enjoyed the wide variety of meals especially the pearl meat salad. There is a trail to a tower at the top of the island that gives you a 360 degree view. Another path takes you all the way around the island in about 35 minutes.

Tugu Malang: "One of the best"

Review by: greg0ryfb | Source: Trip Advisor
not just in Malang, but period...speaking of period, it is a period hotel, filled with antiques, interesting objets d'arte, good food in the resto (and wonderful service), a great gift and antique shop and and wonderful food shop with local delicacies. I last visited 2 years ago and almost forgot just how special the place is, including the service (John, thank you once again!), how comfortable the rooms are (they are idiosyncratic) and how altogether delightful a stay here is. It's a 5 minute walk from the bird mkt and plant stalls and that's a real plus if that's of any interest to you at all.

Maison Polanka: "A wonderful, elegant upscale boutique retreat property."

Review by: Jeanette4156 | Source: Trip Advisor
"We stayed at Maison Polanka in the Khmer House for eight nights in December, 2016 and all of the previous reviews of this accommodation were spot on- it is a beautiful oasis in Siem Reap! Maison Polanka is located just behind Wat Polanka, in a quiet back street not far from the centre of town (about a 10 minute Tuk Tuk ride). The accommodation is within a lovely garden setting within a secure walled compound. It is comprised of five guest rooms, a nice open-air dining area a small massage hut and very welcoming swimming pool. The Khmer House is separate from the other rooms, has a large bedroom and living area, a large balcony with chairs, a spacious bathroom and a large open sitting area below the house- it is well worth the extra expense if you want to enjoy the luxury of a private space. Breakfasts were good, with a choice of Continental or American, including fresh fruit juice, cut fruit and bread basket. We ate several meals in the restaurant ( both lunch and dinner). The food was well presented, tasty and reasonably priced. The staff of Maison Polanka were professional yet charming and went out of their way to assist us in every way. Francis, Cathy and their support staff ensured every detail of our stay was perfect- from organising our tours of Angkor Wat and surrounding temples to making reservations at restaurants and the circus and reconfirming flights. Additionally, every time we returned from a morning or afternoon out, a member of staff was there to greet us with a warm smile and a cool refreshing towel. The extra touch of providing guests with a local mobile phone is also a great idea- the Maison a Polanka numbers are keyed into the phone ( so you can call if you need any assistance) and you can also use it to make local calls (to book restaurants or call a tuk tuk). We had a great time with one tuk yuk driver that the hotel uses ( Mr Lay) who speaks very good English, was very helpful and very keen on explaining almost anything about Cambodian life! All in all we had a wonderful time at Maison Polanka and I can highly recommend it as a special place to stay in Siem Reap. Stayed December 2016, traveled as a couple"

Les Maisons d’Itac: "Quiet retreat in top notch accomodations"

Review by: Rick W | Source: Trip Advisor
My wife and I spent 6 nights at Maison D'Itac in the lovely Bamboo room. We took a Ceres line aircon bus (105 pesos per person) from Cebu City and arrived 3 hours later. Bryon picked us up in Ronda, the nearest city - about 5 minutes from the Maison. Bryon and his staff were excellent during our stay and we enjoyed a very peaceful and relaxing time there. We even got to a wonderful pig roasted lunch that Bryon provided in a celebration of the baptism of his baby boy. and the daily breakfast is quite filling wo we ended up eating only one more meal (dinner) each day. We rented a motor bike in Moalboal (15 minutes away) as local transportation is limited. We enjoyed several nice dinners in Panagsama Beach, a divers resort area, as well as a day snorkeling, another day canyoning, and one day at the White beach. The area is somewhat laid back and not highly developed yet. It is a wonderful area to hang out and enjoy warm waters, warm days and nights. We were there in December and the temperatures were perfect, sunny days with a mild wind everyday.

Villa Mathis: "Chris and the Staff is the reason to stay here"

Review by: PMH80 | Source: tripadvisor.com
"We stayed over new years, my wife, our two young kids, and myself. The villa was very nice and clean. The pool and grounds were great. Food is nice. But the main reason this trip out of many to Bali was great, was because of Chris and his staff. They went so far and beyond what is normal. We had so much going on at the time, and we asked and leveraged Chris for so much more than we normally do. He was great, patient and very accommodating. We can't say enough nice things about him and his team. Thanks guys!!!"

Les Maisons d’Itac: "Worth The Effort"

Review by: Arthur G | Source: Trip Advisor
"I considered whether to score 4 or 5 for a couple of days and despite a couple of criticisms decided it was worthy of a 5 rating. First things first - it is unsignposted and extremely difficult to find. Even locals seem unaware of it and unable to help with directions. The Manager, Bryan, explained that they try and keep it exclusive. I think they are taking this exclusivity too far. There were only two of the beautiful chalets occupied during our stay. This place deserves to be fully booked every day of every week. One nagging question I was left with was whether the (French?) owners wanted to sacrifice custom for this quiet exclusivity or if it was really Bryan who didn't want the place busy! But lets look at the accomodation. Stunning and superb. It was so relaxing. Each chalet / villa had a good-sized private pool with views to die for. The resort would be ideal for two or more familes to get away and spend a great time together. Dinner was effectively take it or leave it with only two choices, however it tasted wonderful. I will definitely go back for a long weekend when I get the chance. Loved the place."
