Mie Cafe: "Beautiful and serene restaurant for foodies"

Review by: Kåre L | Source: Trip Advisor
"Our relative from Phnom Penh recommended this restaurant and I am so glad we got a reservation during our stay in Siem Reap. The setting is an old Khmer Villa, beautiful garden and ponds with Koi fish. We sat on the lower floor, which I think is the better choice. We started with a cocktail to give us time to study the interesting menu. The menu included several local twists on traditional foods as well as several fish dishes from the nearby Tonle Sap. We selected a combination of fish and meat dishes and they were all good. Picking a favorite is tricky, but the risotto with fish was very popular. The kids had fish fingers and chicken nuggets, all made from fresh ingredients and popular with the children. For dessert we had ice cream, fried bananas, and the popular chocolate cake. My son got most of it into his stomach, but the rest of the chocolate cake was in his face as our full and happy group left this great restaurant. Don't miss this gem of a restaurant in Siem Reap."

Zhiwa Ling: "Beautiful hotel in Paro, Bhutan"

Review by: Michael J | Source: Trip Advisor
This is a beautiful hotel in the magical and serene Paro valley in Bhutan, a place as faraway as one can imagine and more than a bit like the fictional Shangri La. Constructed in the architectural style of the country, it is a gorgeous property, with lots of open space. Rooms are located in about eight separate buildings, four to six rooms per building, all with balconies facing the nearby river. Our room was spacious and very nicely decorated; it included separate tub and shower, comfortable king size bed, balcony seating area and more than ample closet space. The fitness center is reasonably well equipped and situated in a large, attractive space adjacent to a large indoor swimming pool. The lobby and public meeting spaces are distinctively and comfortably furnished and decorated in the local style. The staff is as gracious and anxious to please as one can find in a hotel anywhere. This is a top tier hotel by any standard.

Tugu Bali: "Paradise within Paradise"

Review by: Julie G | Source: Trip Advisor
"My husband and I were gifted an incredible trip to Bali. We stayed 4 nights at Hotel Tugu Bali and it was the best choice possible for lavish relaxation! We were treated like a king and queen from the moment we departed immigration. Picked up at the airport with refreshments waiting for the journey in to Canggu. The hotel staff were kind and gracious and attentive at every turn. Our room, Rejang suite, was amazing. Each night we were literally lulled to sleep with ocean sounds as we slept in a perfectly comfortable king size bed! Perfect for a relaxing rest for two tired teachers! We ate breakfast in our room and in the hotel lobby overlooking the beach. We walked in Canggu and enjoyed the shopping and some cool food. At night, we ate in the Amazing Japanese restaurant Ji - the food was heavenly and so good we kept coming back! We had a super cool cocktail and the kobe style beef was to die for! The restaurant is in the most amazing rebuilt temple over 300 years old. If you come to Bali, you have to come to Hotel Tugu and do not miss out on Restaurant Ji. The entire stay was relaxing. And on that note - book a massage because they are gifted in that area as well!! Thanks Hotel Tugu! We will be back and tell all our friends about our amazing stay with you! Room Tip: We stayed in a suite. Rejang! Definitely an excellent choice!"

"We stayed at Hotel Tugu for 4 nights and we both came away saying it was easily the best hotel we had ever stayed in! Every whim is catered for, anything you could imagine they make possible, and always with a smile. The food is outstanding, and the location of the hotel is fantastic with a stunning white sand beach and views of the mountains. An incredible place to stay, you won't be disappointed if you book this hotel! Can't wait to return"

Yandabo Home: "Zwischenstopp mandalay-bagan"

Review by: Josefine B | Source: Trip Advisor

Noel Rodrigo’s Leopard Safaris: "Wild at Heart"

Review by: sabrinaMelbourneVic | Source: Trip Advisor
"As we pulled up to the meeting point , we were met with a striking man in safari attire, Danu. Danu (our host) is a much younger Sri Lankan version of Sir David Attenborough-with a dash of Indiana Jones. His knowledge for wildlife is amazing and he has an eagle eye for spotting animals as did our amazing driver who is so knowledgable and we loved hearing about his tiger encounters in India. Both these guys are passionate conservationists but make it really interesting and are very sensitive to the needs of wildlife and safari newbies. My husband and I became so comfortable around then we found ourselves asking ridiculous questions like ""Does that elephant get lonely?"" Danu is a true professional for keeping a straight face when he answered ""Um, I haven't gotten around to asking him""... We are still laughing about but seriously these guys are like your personal wildlife Wikipedia. We booked the normal tents and were absolutely blown away by the luxury. We have been staying in 5 Star hotels throughout Sri Lanka but this was the cleanest room/tent we have ever seen with the crispest sheets and plugs for my phone. I will miss my outdoor shower, there is no better feeling than having an outdoor shower after a big day in the park. I have to talk about the food. It was next level! This was by far the best food I have had in Sri Lanka and what made it SO special was Danu showing us how to eat it like a local. I loved learning about the cuisine and Sri Lankan culture under the stars. The guys who were serving us in the bar and restaurant- a lantern lit space under the stars treated me like a jungle queen! I miss them already and plan to kidnap them the next time I come back. So I would highly recommend these guys to anyone who has a deep respect for wildlife, a love for a bit of luxury in the jungle and those who are wild at heart. Yala is calling for you. Ki and Keelan"

Pindaya Farm House: "Great Shan State retreat"

Review by: Lucasmom2016 | Source: Trip Advisor
"My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our 2.5 day, 3 night stay at the farmhouse. After working/living in Yangon for six weeks, Pindaya Farmhouse is a little paradise, a beautiful building, with wonderful spaces indoors and out to enjoy the rural scenery, along a quiet drive and road out from which we birded quite happily in the afternoon (enchanted by the Sooty-Headed Bulbuls...). The décor is stunning, including bright paintings by Myanmar artists that grace the common room's walls. We also appreciated the farmhouse's efforts at sustainability, with solar panels, solar heated water for showers, rainwater harvesting and storage, and ample vegetable gardens and newly planted fruit trees. I can't wait til the mango trees begin to supply fruit! The rooms are extremely comfortable, each with private sitting spaces outside affording vistas of the rural countryside. Lighting is excellent, and the wifi system was quite reliable (also surprising to find!). The kitchen offers a nice array of dishes for lunch and dinner, although Win Naing also recommended an excellent restaurant, the Golden Moon, on the outskirts of town. We spent one half-day touring the caves, the nearby paper/umbrella artisans, and a weaver. On our second full day, we hired a guide to take us on a 5-mile hike up into the hills, where we visited a village in the bamboo grove and watched potato ""crackers"" being smoked/dried and enjoyed green tea and good conversation with the lady of the house. Along the way, we were passed by a couple and two Myanmar guides who were hiking from Pindaya to Kalaw, a three-day trek. I also collect textiles, and was sent to a little gift shop that had a beautiful selection of women's ""longyi"" cloths. Afternoons were for relaxing and reading, while evenings we especially enjoyed our final dinner shared with fellow travelers. In mid-February the air is still cool and delightfully dry in Pindaya, a welcome respite from Yangon, although it was always a bit smoky from the farmers who are burning crop residues in preparation for the upcoming growing season. That gave a special glow to the sunrises and sunsets, which were both stunning. Thahara made it very easy for me to arrange all aspects of the trip, managing my extensive email inquiries, helping me to settle on dates, and even arranging flights for us between Yangon and Heho near Taunggyi. I paid online via a secure epayment website, it could not have been easier. I plan to recommend Thahara's Pindaya Farmhouse to all my Yangon colleagues!"

Rachamankha: "Rachamankha Chiang Mai — Perfect Hotel!"

Review by: D and S | Source: Trip Advisor
Quaint, quiet, peaceful -- we arrived Christmas night (2017) and had dinner in the open-air/outdoor dining area. There was a beautiful, roaring fire (real fire, not gas!) and a duet playing Christmas songs. Could not have been a more perfect evening. This is a lovely hotel. Service and food was excellent! Located in the center of town -- perfect location.

Tiger Mountain Pokhara Lodge: "Fantastic experience would highly recommend"

Review by: Cantium | Source: Trip Advisor
"We have just stayed for 2 nights at Tiger Mountain and we wished we had stayed longer. Our stay was so welcoming and attentive a truly wonderful experience. We enjoyed great food and attentive and faultless staff who really looked after us. Our accommodation provided everything we needed and we like its eco friendliness, the hot water bottles in bed at night were a lovely touch. Pre dinner drinks in front of a roaring log fire with fellow guests was enjoyable. We particularly loved our helicopter trip to Annapurna Base Camp - what an experience (very reasonably priced if you can share the experience with fellow guests like we did) and our birding and village walk was enjoyable and informative. Tiger Mountain has wonderful staff, and great guides. We would highly recommend the experience and let the hotel organise all your activities as they know what they are doing! Outstanding views and a morning wake up call with tea and homemade biscuits to watch the sunrise over the mountains was perfect. D Don’t hesitate just book it! Thank you Marcus and all the team."
