The Village House: "Village house"
"From the get go I was impressed by this place, the pool, the decor, the rooms, the cleanliness, convenience, service, food and drinks. The Village house was perfect for our large group of 11 offering us the convenience of having almost everything in the one area. We could enjoy each others company easily and still have a basic needs met easily. Pool, cocktails, food, relaxation. Not sure why others have given a lower review. Staff are lovely and polite. If anything the staff may not understand exactly what you are saying, but hey youre in another country and they are doing their best to understand you. Rephrase it, try again and embrace it! Food is fine, lots of options...some western options may not live up to westerners expectations...but why are you eating that anyway? Youre in another country! Embrace the food! :) I really enjoyed sampling a bit of everything Cocktail prices are resonable if not cheaper than other places (alcohol in malaysia is expensive) had a great time drinking by the pool This place is great and did I mention its clean!"David’s Kitchen: "Fantastic dining at David’s"
"I had the pleasure of visiting David's Kitchen on a solo trip this past week. The food was lovely, the service was very attentive and as many reviewers noted David himself is a real pleasure - much appreciated his warm and engaging welcome particularly as I had no one but my bag as a dinner companion! I cannot rave enough about the spicy fish salad with green apple. Spicy with the right amount of acidity, I seriously considered ordering another serving to go. Would love to return soon to try out more the items on the menu. "Noel Rodrigo’s Leopard Safaris: "Honeymoon Highlight"
"We booked the luxury tent as part of our honeymoon. From pick up to drop off everything was 5 star! We had the most fantastic time and staff went the extra mile to make our stay extra special. The room itself was magnificent and we adored being able to shower under the stars. Everything about the room has been carefully thought out and lovingly handmade. The bed was extremely comfortable and we felt safe and secure in the tent. It felt like a tent from 'Harry Potter' as from the outside you would not expect them to be able to fit in so much luxury. The food! Every day we were greeted with a delicious breakfast, lunch and dinner. We even had private dining under the stars and a cookery lesson. I think my favourite had to be string hoppers and the coconut pancakes. Let's not forget the Safari. We managed to see a total of 5 leopards! (a mating couple, a very large male eating a monkey and a mother and cub on our last day!). Praneeth was our guide and he was very knowledgeable. A big thank you to everyone for making it so special, we will remember it so fondly and really hope to come back very soon! Emma and Matty"Rahai’i Pangun: "River cruise – Indonesia’s must see Orangutans"
My husband and I went on a 2 night / 3 day day river cruise and the river cruise was one of the highlights of our trip. Our guide Jeni was fantastic and the crew could not do enough to make our trip comfortable and memorable. The Orangutans in their natural environment were a delight to watch and what magnificent creatures they are. Such a shame what the ever expanding human population is doing to these magnificent great apes....but there seems to be hope for them which is heart warming and Wow Borneo is definitely the company to book this once in a lifetime adventure with. The boat is very comfortable, except for the cold shower brrr... and the food scrumptious.Tiger Mountain Pokhara Lodge: "The Last of a Dying Breed"
"They don't make hotels like this anymore. Which is a pity, because a stay at Tiger Mountain is about so much more than just 'physical' luxury. It's enriching - visually, intellectually and emotionally. First things first - it's a fantastic property, perched high up on a mountain overlooking the Pokhara Valley with fantastic views of the Annapurna range. This is eco-luxury at its finest : great views, great service, great food but with minimal environmental impact. The rooms are nice, in a spartan sort of way (no TV, no WiFi, no aircon - not that you need it) with four poster beds, charmingly rustic furniture and a private, sit out balcony. The food is fantastic - among the best you will ever have, whether it's traditional Nepali fare or the more Western dishes that are traditionally served at dinner. But many hotels have great views, great rooms and great food. Tiger Mountain's secret weapon are it's guests and the fact that dinner is a communal meal where all the guests get together over 4 courses and copious amongst of alcohol. Over the course of 3 nights we met a couple who had driven a Land Rover from London to South Africa and who were currently doing relief work in Nepal, a Scotsman who spent a year living in a campervan with him family and his dog, and an ex military attache who also oversaw the recruitment of Gurkhas for the British Army. Simply put, these are things money can't buy. And that's to say nothing of Marcus, the Managing Director of the place who makes it a point to have a drink with every one of his guests and who has a number of remarkable insights and anecdotes about Nepal, India, England and everything in between to share. If you're looking for a traditional luxury hotel with every modern comfort, this property probably isn't for you. But if you're looking for old world charm, delightful dinnertime conversations and a view that just doesn't quit, Tiger Lodge has your number. It may be a bit pricey, but it's Worth Every Penny."Cheong Fatt Tze – Blue Mansion: "How big, how blue, how beautiful"
"It was a really special experience to stay at this restored turn-of-the-previous-century mansion. There's not a lot more to write about its significance as a building, or the amazing history within its walls that other reviewers have not mentioned, so I'll concentrate on the rooms. Not only is the building an exquisite example of heritage conservation at its finest, the boutique hotel they've managed to operate in this amazing building is tasteful and thoughtfully executed. Comfortable but traditionally designed, the rooms are a true oasis after a day of walking around George Town. Breakfast service was prompt and friendly. The food, while actually not as exciting as the true street fare Penang is famous for, was top quality. Lovely staff, one helped me out big time by lending me a wifi dongle they had for the duration of my stay. I stayed at CFZ Mansion for two nights and I hope that the next time I return, I will be able to stay longer . Stayed December 2016, traveled solo"Manukan Island Resort: "Paradise"
"This property is absolutely beautiful and it's the only property on Manukan Island. There's a private beach area for guests and a public beach area for day guests. Once I stepped off of the ferry and walked along the boardwalk towards reception, I immediately felt at ease. I spent a lot of time at the reception area because it was the only place where I could access the wifi. Everyone was absolutely pleasant, extremely kind and helpful. The suite is my favorite part and I couldn't believe how spacious the suite was for little 'ol me. I recorded a walking tour of the room because I was in shock by how beautiful the views were and how much space was allotted. Breakfast was amazing because the options were endless including traditional Malaysian dishes, a juice bar, an omelette and soup station, etc. The food options for lunch and dinner were also great. My only complaint was that I couldn't stay longer but I certainly hope I can come back. Everyone that I met was a gem, the space was beautiful, the food and drinks were also great. <3"Villa Song Saigon: "Beautiful hotel"
It's a bit of an odd drive to get here, out of main areas and thru village streets but well worth the drive. It's a very boutique hotel. No lifts and 3 floors. Beautiful wooden floorboards everywhere. Our reception greeting was friendly and very easy check in. We had to book 2 rooms (travelling with teens) and do wish we had upgraded at least our room to have a balcony. The windows on the 3rd floor are small but do open fully which is nice. The rooms are small but beautifully appointed. Everything has been finished to a very high standard. Lovely bathrooms and very comfortable bed. The outside restaurant/bar is a gorgeous area. Exactly what we expected and part of reason for our booking here. It's a beautiful spot on the banks of the river watching the sunset (or rise). The food and drinks are really good. The dinner menu isn't Vietnamese but after almost 3 weeks we didn't mind having some fusion food. Seafood was all beautiful. The staff are lovely. The pool area is nice, a large pool, very warm with seating around it. The pool is at the back of the hotel and has no bar or cafe attached to it. The gym is small with only 1 treadmill but it's a good quality one. The free mini bar is 2 beers 3 waters 1 juice and a soft drink. The coffee in the room is terrible, luckily we bought everything we need to make our own cafe sua da with us. The free boat into the city is great. We are doing the Cu Chi tunnels tour arriving by boat and the boat driver is able to pick us up from the hotel jetty (and drop us back here) saving us 45 min trip each way to and from the meeting point. Very happy with this hotel, definitely recommend itSupanniga Eating Room: "Delicious lunch in a fabulous setting"
Casual but well thought out setting; more importantly a very satisfying meal! Fresh & tastey; & service was efficient. Few dishes that I saw on menu that I will make a return visit in the near future. The Cabochon Hotel: "Simply Amazing"
Stayed at this property for a vacation in Thailand on the reference of a local. It is tucked away off of a busy street and has the look and feel of a 1950s mansion. Such a cool property with amazing service and the feel of being at home. The rooftop pool was awesome and a treat to start each day. Would definitely stay here again!
