Mathis Retreat: "Small, classy, boutique hotel with very lovely staff"
"My husband and 20 month year old have just returned from a lovely relaxing stay at Mathis retreat. We chose to be picked up and dropped back at the airport by the Mathis team as this meant our little one could travel in a baby seat (we didn't lug one all the way to Bali). The staff were very friendly and the hotel was great - I don't think the pictures of the bungalows on this site do justice to the decor of the rooms - they were very large and tastefully decorated. The bath was so large that all three of us could fit. Karine helped coordinate a few activities from the hotel- one day we went on a hike through the jungle, lunch with locals and a stop at a more friendly monkey park (Sangeh). Another time we went to Lake Bratten and looked at the wonderful rice terraces at Jatiluwih and tasted the local coffee overlooking other lakes. Karine also organised, on our behalf, a cycling tour of the local rice paddies and villages and ensured their was a baby sized helmet provided. The huge advantage of organising all of our activities through the hotel meant that we could use the hotel's baby seat. We ate at the restaurant (Terracotta) numerous times - breakfast is amazing - overlooking the rice paddies. Dinner was also beautiful - lights in the rice paddies and lanterns floating on the pool with delicious food. So good, we ended up doing a cooking course at the hotel for lunch one day. The staff were wonderful, very helpful with our little one and friendly. Nothing seemed to be a problem. The pool has a large shallow section that is suitable for little ones and the hotel's duck's were also very popular with our child and others' children. Another tip: There is a great path through the rice paddies and small village streets from the hotel into Ubud - certainly worth doing the walk early one morning so you can catch the Udud local food markets. Room Tip: The bungalows by the pool were great as the baby monitor was in range. We were in the pool relaxing..."Supanniga Eating Room: "Excellent Isan food"
"Here is a place to go to enjoy real Isan Thai food. We have been there several times already and tried many different dishes. All are freshly made, tasty, not too spicy if you do not forget to mention and nicely presented ... A very good option if you want to discover and change from other traditional Thai food. Very good service too!"Manukan Island Resort: "Staff are there main asset"
"We visited here for a 4 night short holiday at the end of our main holiday in Malaysia. We were very impressed with all the staff at the resort. They excel in customer service and really do go out of there way to make your stay enjoyable. We made some comments about the breakfast ( not covered / few flies buzzing around) - it was addressed straightway, professionally. The chalet we had was very nice and enjoyed having our little beach to come and go as we please. Everywhere is very clean. The island it self doesn't have a huge choice of things to do, other than snorkel, and is definitely bring a book place. The island is busy during the day with day trippers but it's great at night when you get it you self - you get to wander about, sat on the jetty watching the fish. There a few good food choices - the main restaurant is good - slightly more expressive than mainland but then food is imported. You might get tired of the menu after a few days - a refresh or daily specials would be good. It's doesn't offer a huge number of options for families but if you just want somewhere to relax and watch the world go by with excellent services I would recommend."The Cabochon Hotel and Residence: "Wonderful Oasis"
The Cabochon is a small, charming colonial style oasis in Bangkok with very friendly and good service. It seems to attract a diverse range of well mannered travellers (mostly couples) and is well placed. Our family enjoyed every minute of it and will be back.Bali Jiwa Villa: "Amazing Experience"
"Wow !! From the minute you arrive at a little carved wooden door set in the middle of a rice field you realise this is like no where else. We rented the two Villas here so had the whole place to ourselves total privacy, peace and seclusion. The Villas and Lounge/Dining area are beautifully constructed and furnished to blend into the landscape lovely comfy beds, large bathrooms plus outdoor bath and shower. Each area has a collection of books about Indonesia lovely local carvings and traditional furniture make you feel like you are staying in someone's home the attention to detail is fantastic. And now the Staff !! You have your own Staff team who look after your every need cooking and serving beautiful Indonesian. There is a small choice at Breakfast and lunch and a lovely home cooked Indonesian Feast in the Evening. This was an unforgettable Balinese experience - hope to return one day. "Maduzi Hotel: "Hidden retreats in the busy Bangkok"
"I am glad i found Maduzi Hotel in my Bangkok Hotels research before the trip, I wish that I found it sooner before we booked another hotel but me and my husband were lucky that we get to stay here for 3 nights out of our 6 days holiday in Bangkok. The location of this hotel is just a 3-5mins walk from Asok BTS which made it easier for us to travel to any corner of the city also 10-15 mins walk to Nana. The room itself was so fascinating. It was worth the price that we paid. Super big room with a very comfy king-sized bed and also a relaxing couch by the window. When we walked in to the bathroom, it was like we were in a celebrity's house. Big mirror with lovely lighting, walk-in closet, and the best part of it was the bathtub X jacuzzi! It was huge and quite deep, it could fit 2 people in it, and to fill the tub, the water will fall from the roof. Very unique and nice touch! On the other hand, they have a coffee machine in each of the room, also you can have free tea or coffee at their bar for 24/7. It was very relaxing after so much of walking around. They didn't have many breakfast options, but we tried almost every menu and they were delicious.. Every morning that's the thing we look after and if you wake up late you can have your breakfast as your brunch. I'm so looking forward to be back here and enjoy all of the fascinating facilities Maduzi has. Thank you for making our holiday memorable."Reverie Siam: "Great botique hotel"
Great place to enjoy and relax, far from the town center but offers free on call tuk tuks all day long to and from the town center. Rooms are specious with amazing design. The staff is helpful and friendly. Nice breakfest- you get to choose one of 6-7 egg plates and one of 4 sweet dishes.Tugu Bali: "Fantastic!"
"Left a review on the other entry for this hotel...but again, can't speak highly enough!!!! Most comfortable room and bed we have been in on our month long trip to Bali. The staff was lovely and accommodating and we were delighted by the facilities. Must visit if you are in Canggu!!!"Mie Cafe: "Good menu well executed"
"Left our group for dinner here with my wife. Was not disappointed. Simple but very pleasant atmosphere. Very good service. A well thought out menu with interesting takes on Khmer cuisine. A great take on beef carpaccio, wonderful snake head fish ceviche, outstanding huge langoustinos in curry over sweet potato purée. The krill raviolis were were milder than expected, but well prepared. Great ice cream and sorbet. A coconut milk panna cotta with black rice and mango sorbet was wonderful. A little more expensive than other places, but worth it."Satri House: "Absolutely wonderful"
"This is a truly amazing gem of a boutique hotel. The manager introduced himself on our arrival and the staff were exceptionally helpful. There are 2 pools, a spa and lovely grounds to relax in. Breakfast is either continental with a range of cooked eggs or local. The basket of pastries was fresh and they melted in your mouth. The tomato jam is excellent as is the tamarind. If you ask the recipes are available. The room was beautiful with local antique furniture and if you ask they will provide a kettle and tea making facilities. You can also request a tv but with the balcony and gardens who needs a tv! Look forward to returning some day. Congratulations on your property and staff."Travel Asia with Secret Retreats
