Chakrabongse: "Stay in a prince’s palace"
This was built in the 19th century by a Thai prince. It's on a busy street and right next to the river. Once you get behind the gates, it's your own private palace. Pool, garden, decks overlooking the river. I think there are only about 9 rooms. It's pricey, but worth it. Our dinner was about a 7-course meal (prix-fixe), each one a delicacy. Took off my shoes at the gate and wandered around the rooms and gardens for all three days we were there.Pindaya Farm House: "A wonderful, relaxing time"
Aye Aye, her husband and team at Thahara Pindaya couldn't have been more welcoming. The accommodation and food were fantastic and the walks and sightseeing gave us a small insight to a spectacular, fantastic, friendly country. Thank you!muang la: "A real Gem"
"We stayed three days and two nights in this slice of paradise. The setting is terrific and the service and attention to detail was even better. The fusion of French and Lao cuisine was sensational and the presentation a delight for the eye. The staff to a person clearly has been well trained and look for opportunities to please. We happen to be visiting a day after my birthday and of course they surprised us with an evening of lighting candle lanterns to send off good blessings into the clear evening sky. Truly a place to revisit and restore. Bravo on all fronts. "Glenburn Tea Estate: "“Awesome trekking in perfect surrounding – in and around glenburn tea estate”"
"Just got back from a 3 night solo stay at the glenburn tea estate. I can't believe how they are ranked #4. They should be #1 hands down. Pick up at the airport was prompt with a safe driver and clean car. The driver stopped at a picturesque spot for a quick picnic lunch - paneer Kathi rolls, brownies and of course tea! Enough had been written about the last descent to glenburn, so I won't write anymore. But it's all true! Once you reach the estate, you are blown away by the setting. I was lucky as the weather was clear and I could see the Kanchenjunga peak in all its beauty. Luxurious accommodations with all the conveniences you need. I had some issues with the hot water in my bathroom but they moved me to another room immediately. And even offered complimentary massages for my inconvenience. I did use the massage as I did 3 treks on the next day - 1. Hike to Ramitay Dara, 2. Hike to the campsite and 3. Hike to manjitar suspension bridge. Great views from ramitay Dara and it's an easy 1.5 HR uphill trek. The campsite is a completely different setting from the mountains. And they do a fabulous barbecue lunch. Just relax by the river and enjoy the food. The 3rd trek to manjitar was ok and can be skipped. I wasn't impressed. The dinners are along with all the other guests and it's like you are having dinner in someone's house. Met people from Germany, London, San Francisco, Denver and Singapore. Wow! Great conversations over great food. Food is a little bland for Indian taste but Faye made me a spicy butter chicken thx next day. Breakfasts are outside the water lily bungalow. Awesome setting. Fabulous service and good choices - eggs, one special every day, and the usual stuff. The 2nd day I hiked to Badamtam tea estate and the Buddha of Badamtam. It's on the hill right opposite the glenburn tea estste - so you go down to 1000 feet and then trek uphill back to 3300 feet. And then they sent a car there to take me to Darjeeling - it's about 40 mins from Badamtam tea factory. Nothing great in Darjeeling. Except to have coffee/tea at Glenarys. Faye ( the estate manager) is very good with the guests and is always available to answer any questions and offer suggestions. Along with Will and Camilla, they make a great team. And not to forget all the staff - my trekking guides - Mandeep and Dinesh. The staff - Sajit, Binod, everyone. A great place in the eastern Himalayas -'not to be missed!"Manda De Laos: "Best of the best"
"Manda was recommended to me,and i am very thankfull. It is without any doubt the best and most beautifull place to have diner in Laos( not only Luang Prabang) The restaurant has a fantastic atmosphere, the food is FANTASTIC. We tried the top 5 on tripadvisor and believe me this place is on a different level. Definatelly no1 ++++"Les Maisons Wat Kor: "Hidden oasis"
We have stayed at Maison Wat Kor for very short time with two couples for relaxing and escapre from the crowded world. Definitely this is a little oasis with a lush garden surrounded. The best part of the place - peaceful environment, quiet in the middle of village in Battambang. Our night for dinner was extremly delightful and also having the best talk with the owners during the dinner time too. The set dinner with red wine in the most beautiful enrionments in their little restaurants. Overall it is a very peaceful little Khmer house and definitely recommended.Samanea Beach Resort: "Samanea. Lovelier the Second Time"
"I fell in love with Samanea two years ago. So many improvements have been made since. The villa, service, staff, food are delightfully better. Still, the best part is the serenity Samanea offers. The view is as breathtaking as I remember it. The sunset is simply spectacular. It’s family-friendly,too. A family brought their infant with them, and another had a toddler. Seeing them added to the natural beauty of the place. It says a lot how amazing this place is. Over-all, Samanea is a must-see, must- experience destination. When you leave, you’ll find yourself promising to come back. And you will. I did."Heritage Suites: "Wonderful stay"
Our trip started off in style with the airport pickup in the old Mercedes. The staff were welcoming from the start with cold towels, water, and a welcome cocktail when we arrived. They weren't full during our stay so they gave us a complimentary upgrade to a Bungalow Suite. It was a very nice room and we'd happily pay for the extra charge to have this suite again. We liked that the hotel is a more intimate size than much of what you see around Siem Reap and that it was part of its neighborhood. They let us know when we arrived that there was a festival going on and we might hear monks chanting early in the morning from the temple nearby. When waking up before sunrise to head to the temples one morning we heard the very beautiful chanting, apparently they had started at 4 AM but we didn't hear them at all from our room. We had breakfast at the hotel daily which we enjoyed very much, but didn't try the restaurant at other times as we were out exploring Siem Reap. We booked a guide to visit temples and the Tonle Sap via their companion company Heritage Adventures who we would highly recommend. A great visit and we hope to be back again soon!Reverie Siam: "The best place to stay in Pai and a superb address"
We stayed there for one night and we did not regret it. After 3 hours of mountain drive from ChiangMai we really enjoyed checking in here. For a first trial, the owners have been doing extremely well. Superb decoration, very nice colonial atmosphere, beautiful villa with very large bathroom. We took so many pictures of everything including of the well designed restaurant. Do not expect to have thai food but rather mediterranean. Pools are great, service excellent. It is a must to stay at Reverie Siam and the price is still very much correct. No single reason not to book there. You can only enjoy.MesaStila: "Fabulous place, staff and food"
"I could not fault this place and enjoyed every minute of my two night stay. Thank you and I will be back one day sooner than later. The meals were superb and I loved the duck...I loved it all. I went to the spa and fell asleep so don't really know what it was like but falling asleep is a pretty good gauge."Travel Asia with Secret Retreats
