GLENBURN TEA ESTATE: "Outstanding"
"We stayed 3 nights for a family birthday celebration. We were 5 adults. It was a wonderful respite after travelling the rough roads of Sikkim. I agree with the earlier reviews and experiences and won't repeat the wonderful activities available. We did the walk to the river which we really enjoyed. On arrival (after being met with cool refreshing flannels and homemade lemonade) I lay down on a wooden bench by river and within seconds a lovely man appeared with pillow and large cushion for bench. I enjoyed a snooze while lunch on the barbecue. Wonderful care and our needs were met before we realised we had a need. Lovely lovely people. We chose not to dine communally but enjoyed wonderful candlelit family dinners on the terrace of our bungalow, served by a lovely gentle caring man. The drive into Darjeeling is long, bumpy and slow. I would recommend you don't waste a day of your precious time in Glenburn. Rather spend two nights in Darjeeling before or after Glenburn. We would have liked at least another night in Glenburn. It really is worth the journey in. "The Island Lodge: "Magic on the Mekong"
What a surprise, much better than it shows on its website and booking search engines. A touch of casual elegance right on the river. French influences everywhere as you'd expect with French owners, very classy open air restaurant and lounge area facing the pool and river on one side and the garden and villas on the other. Rooms above are bright, airy and extremely pleasant. The food is great, although mostly western style. There's lots to do - cycling and boat trips, visits to local markets etc. Only two hours drive from HCMC (the hotel will arrange a car) it's a great escape from the city - a must visit for people seeking respite from the big smoke.Villa Song Saigon: "Great Food & river view"
Beautiful hotel at the river with super friendly staff, owners and good food. One of my favourite places to escape the hectic city center. The river side is amazing at just 15/20 min from downtown it feels like being on a mini holiday just by having a good meal or coffee. A great quality escape :)Amata Lanna: "Best place to stay in Chiang Mai"
We loved this hotel!!! We booked it because it looked "Thai" in it's decoration etc. It did not disappoint! It is on a quieter street, but still so close to the night market and good restaurants. The pool is smaller, but located inside the hotel's peaceful courtyard. The staff were so kind and attentive. Honestly, this is such a great hotel. I would book immediately if you can. It is smaller, so I'm guessing as word gets out how wonderful it is, that it will sell out fast. Take my advice and stay here when you are in Chiang Mai!!Cabochon Hotel & Residence: "my favourite place to stay in Bangkok"
"from the moment we walked in the door.....we fell in love with this place.....we can not recommend it highly enough! if you want something special, tucked away, unexpected with the most divine attentive staff.....this is it! we will only stay in this gorgeous hotel whenever we choose to visit this city. a very very special place indeed! the attention to detail, the drinks and cocktail choices are just perfect and the rooms to enjoy them in....are so so beautiful. a thai restaurant too with delicious food, a swimming pool, everything is here. all I can say is, we just don't want to leave.....its the perfect get away in a busy bustling city that can be very overwhelming. The Cabachon is an oasis with styling perfection. thank you for having us!"Rachamankha: "Better than expected"
"Enchanting, exquisite , excellent, charming, amazing ..... What more can I say? My husband and I stayed at this very beautiful rare gem of a boutique hotel last week and everything couldn't be more perfect, Special thanks and much appreciation to service staff during breakfast and front desk they were all super professional including the security guard who had a torch light ready when he saw me ""digging"" into my handbag in the dark to pay the tuk tuk driver. Will definitely be planning another trip there!"Cuisine Wat Damnak: "An anniversary dinner to remember"
What a wonderful restaurant. We visited for our 10th anniversary. The food is quite incredible. We have travelled all over the world and to be honest, this may be the best meal I have ever had. I am vegetarian and rarely get the opportunity to have a tasting menu. With prior warning, Chef made an unbelievable 6 course tasting menu for me. My husband also had the non vegetarian tasting menu. Chef came out to say hello and we really appreciated this as we know the restaurant had only recently reopened. Thank you so much Cusine Wat Damnak for a truly unforgettable experience.Yandabo Home: "Great! Wonderful! Brilliant!"
"This is a small hotel right on the river. It's nestled among trees which does mean the inevitable wildlife around you (although we didn't see mosquitos!). The room we had was huge and wonderfully well equipped. The terrace area was comfortable and peaceful. The staff were very helpful and friendly (not always visible but never very far away). For a two night stay to see the villages it is a great base."Slow Villas and Spa: "7 days of paradise"
Gili Air is itself already a special place, however, if you stay at Slow Villa this will give you the last notch to perfection. The villa itself is very well organized with private pool, massive private garden, lovely villa and beautifully designed interior. The stuff was great even at peak breakfast hours and also for special arrangements like bbq of the fish we caught in the morning. The staff is more than helpful in giving you tips in terms of restaurants, bars, activities, organizing travel arrangements, etc. In a pretty short time you get a good impression about the island itself and the other accommodation and I can without any doubt say that Slow Villa is definitely the best place to stay on Gili Air. And on top of the aforementioned I love the fact that the people behind Slow Villa also care about environmental and social responsibility. Chapeau and keep going!!!David’s Kitchen: "Memorable experience"
The restaurant had a very nice atmosphere, the music was vocal jazz and relaxing. The restaurant created a lovely mood, suitable for couples or even families. The staff was extremely polite and friendly. The food was exceptionally delicious. The beef was tender. The dessert was also special. The service was great. No dissapointment for sure.
