tugu bali: "Staying in the middle of art and culture"
"We were travelling with three small kids (3,5,7) and Tugu hotel in Canggu was our last stop in Bali after staying in Intercontinental Jimbaran and the villas in Ubud and Lovina. We were looking for something different than the large chain hotels and Tugu hotel turned out to be just the right place. The hotel does not belong to the Small Luxury Hotels, Relais&Chateaux (they do not have any hotels in Indonesia yet?) or Boutique Hotels, so we found it kind of accidentally as our friends had recommended to stay in Canggu area and hotel Tugu is #1 in Canggu. The hotel could easily fit into the quality standards of the small luxury hotels. Although the hotel has a pool, this is not the reason to come to this hotel. There are hotels with bigger and better pools. Tugu hotel is for the guests who love architecture, art and culture, who are excited about original interior design and high quality antiquities and handicraft surrounding at every step: in the room, in the garden and literally everywhere. The service was perfect even on the background of the Balinese being in general polite and friendly. I would like to give special thank you to Pande Dwipa for an excursion in the facilities: Tugu hotel is an exquisite art museum and hotel in one. I can only admire the vision of the hotel owner Anhar Setjadibrata, to share the art he has collected with the guests in his hotels. Tugu hotel is definitely ""worth a detour"", to use a Michelin term. "Glenburn Tea Estate: "Amazing Location"
"We stayed in 'the bungalow' which was beautifully decorated and extremely comfortable with the added bonus of wonderful scenery. The food and service in our own delightful dining room in front of a roaring log fire was perfect. The only major downside is the TERRIBLE access to Glenburn. I live in the country down an unmade up track and have a 4 X 4 to cope with our own tracks and lanes however, the 10 kilometre track that takes an hour each way (I was highly amused to see another review claiming it takes 30 minutes, this would only be possible if they flew!) to Glenburn is worse than 'challenging', it can only be likened to a steep dried up ancient river bed! My husband and I both suffer with arthritis and this journey very nearly killed us off. Such a pity as otherwise everything else was perfect!"Rachamankha: "Amazing small boutique hitel"
"We stayed at the Rachamankha for 4 nights in August. There are several huge positives about the hotel. First and foremost it's in the middle of the city but in a residential neighborhood and on a small alley surrounded by walls. As such it is a quiet oasis where you forget you're in a large town at all. The staff is amazing, helpful, and genuine and willing to whatever to make your stay wonderful. It's a small intimate hotel with very few rooms and is very quiet. We mostly saw couples. The entire hotel is laid out in a very symmetric, peaceful, zen-like way and was actually designed by a famous architect who has his office off the hotel library. The decor is very interesting, with regional historic artifacts in the outdoor hallways and courtyards. The included breakfast at the restaurant was outstanding and there was a good set of menu options. The one dinner we had was excellent as well, though somewhat pricy. The only downside was that the wifi was weak, slow, and frequently failed requiring another login. AC is great and you can make the room as cool as you want. In summary: Pros: outstanding boutique hotel in an excellent location; great value Con: weak wifi"Slow Villas and Spa: "Perfect Stay for Honeymoon!"
"Beautiful Private Villa with with Private Pool My husband and I have a honeymoon staycation in this villa, and we loved it so much. It's located not too far away from the beach, but enough distance to stay away from the crowd. So it’s very perfect for honeymon. We've got a very beautiful spacey villa with a private pool and very spacey backyard. We stay at Villa Number 1. With beautiful interior and big bed, also we love the open bathroom so much! We Love the Eco Concept Slow Villas is very eco-friendly, we’ve got our own bottle for drink and we can bring it outside, wether for dinner outside or beach time. We can also refill it everytime, we don’t need to buy extra water. We’ve got our own kitchen with complete utensil, so you can stay all day long at the villa. And we’ve got yoga matt, which I never found on another villa/hotel, we can join the free yoga clas everyday at ten in the morning. The Best Breakfast! Because Slow VIlla doesn’t have restaurants, they will serve the breakfast at our villa, which you can choose from English themed-breakfast to Australia to America. It’s very delicious. We enjoy it on our table beside the pool. Photogenic Villas As a travel writer and enthusiast, I love taking pictures of anything. And I love every side of our villa. It's beautiful and we made a lot of beautiful pictures. lol! Best Services The staffs were very nice, also we can rent the bicycle anytime. Room Tip: It's perfect, don't forget to buy food or vegetables, you can cook it on your own kitchen!"Dewakan: "An Absolute Must Visit"
"If there is only one restaurant you can go to while you are in KL, then make it this one! I don't usually gush lyrical, but here is a young chef who combines well rehearsed classical technique with inventiveness and an open mind. Added to this is a philosophy that is not floridly wordy, but very much bound to the earth and to his own family traditions. Chef Darren sources his ingredients locally and lets his family recipes be part of his inspiration. So what should you expect? Beautifully prepared dishes with a distinct, sometimes subtle, sometimes strong local flavour, lots of freshness and a little playful fun. Overall, great, great food that you definitely must not miss out on."Jing’s Residence: "Luxury hotel in the middle of an ancient walled city"
"Stayed here for two night during our tour of China. Unexpectedly luxurious hotel in the middle of Pingyao - also very expensive particularly when compared to any other hotel in Pingyao. Having said the above the service was faultless and the hotel was clean and comfortable - which considering the coal dust in the air must have taken some doing. Breakfasts were OK but the evening meals were very good indeed."Rachamankha: "Absolutely stunning"
"This is a relatively new hotel built in traditional Thai style. It is beautiful - everything about it is beautiful, the architecture, the furniture, the fittings, the ornaments, the swimming pool. Best of all is its location - easily accessible to the main temples in Chiang Mai and within walking distance of the main shopping streets. A small hotel , with friendly staff and comfortable beds. try it - I am sure you cannot fail to be impressed!"Samanea Beach Resort: "Group Retreat"
We rented the entire resort. It was amazing how the staff catered to our vegetarian/vegan diets and allowed us to do team building, worships and meetings at the dining facility and/or rooftop at sunset. It was such a blessing for our group of 28 people (15 adults and 13 kids.....aged 16 and under). With a private beach, amazing pool, beautiful scenery from the pier and lovely rooms we could not have asked for a better four days! Plus we had a special private meal for the parents on the beach while the kids got pizza and smoothies. The management knew our needs ahead of time and did everything to make this such a wonderful time for us all! Plus the staff are so friendly and accommodating. What a joy to be able to find this best kept secret of Kep, Cambodia. You will not be disappointed with your stay. It is a beautiful, quiet place to rest and rejuvenate!Sanak Retreat Bali: "A Peaceful Retreat in Nature"
I stayed at the Sanak Retreat with my boyfriend for two nights. We really appreciated how calm and peaceful the property was. The restaurant is delicious (especially the barbequed chicken with grilled veggies). The bungalows are beautiful, with big windows on each exterior wall that let in the light. A perfect place to disconnect from the world and recharge your batteries.David’s Kitchen: "Best dining experience in Chiang Mai"
This restaurant is a must if you are in Chiang Mai. The food, service and overall experience were exceptional. David greeted us upon arrival to the restaurant and continued to check in on us throughout the meal. He and his staff made us feel like royalty. The food was second to none. Highlights included the pumpkin soup and wagyu beef cheek. We walked away with full stomachs and fuller smiles. We can't wait to come back next time.
