4 Rivers Floating Lodge: "Quirky, fun place to stay"

Review by: ian B | Source: Trip Advisor
"Spent 3 nights at Four Rivers in early May. We really felt that we were embarking on something special when we were collected by boat for our transfer to the Lodge and we were not disappointed. The accommodation, in tents is wonderful, it is spacious and well furnished. The bathroom is large with an amazing wooden shower tub! Fans attempt to keep the tents cool and were reasonably effective considering how hot it was. The staff were without fail friendly, courteous and kind. Nothing was too much, my wife happened to mention to the restaurant manager that she would like to try a Cambodian speciality that was not on the menu. An hour later the meal had been cooked for her and was superb. That seemed to be the way the Lodge worked, it was a case of just ask and well do our best to provide. There is a local guy, born on the island opposite the Lodge, who is the tour guide. He deserves a special mention as he provided a real touch of magic to our stay. We went on an early morning hike, a river trip to a fishing village where we also kayaked through the mangroves and a boat trip to see fireflies. He is so knowledgable and great fun to be with but so caring and polite. This is a great place to stay and well worth the 4 hour journey from Phnom Penh."

Le Du Wine Bar & Restaurant: "Lovely service, imaginative food, and great attention to detail"

Review by: sr201753j9 | Source: Trip Advisor
"I read an article about Le Du and was intrigued by its promise of elevating Thai style food. I have been in Thailand for several weeks and have enjoyed the food but not been blown away by anything that I have not tried before until tonight. We elected the 6 course tasting menu. This is really a bit more than expected because there is an amuse bouche and a fruit plate that is not listed. Server was Erica who was warm, attentive and knowledgeable. The dishes range from sea bass, river prawn, aged beef, pork jowls and a sustainable fish. Each was presented with a lovely Thai inspired sauce and accompaniment. While all the dishes were terrific in their own way, our favorites were the pork jowls an the sea bass. The lovely staff recognized my husband's celebration of his birthday with an extra dessert. So what would I say could be improved: the beef dish was the weakest in that while flavorful, it was a bit chewy. I did not observe the concerns voiced by other reviewers as a high noise level, or feeling of being rushed. We were dressed in a neat manner and felt welcome. We thought the bill was reasonable for this type of meal. Yes, there is a service charge but the charge is 10% which in our opinion is low for the amount of service and 50% of the expected tip in the US. I did find the reservation system challenging. I made a reservation for one evening, and then realized we would be open earlier in the week and tried to change the reservation. I sent an email, and initially, did not get a response. The hotel clerk called for me and changed the reservation, But I received no confirmation of change. This is partly my fault because the hotel gave the name on my passport which is slightly different ( nickname versus formal first name) that they did not recognize as the same person. We called again, confirmed and a few hours later I received a change of reservation with right day, wrong time. 2 more calls and 3 emails later, it was cleared and confirmed. So lesson learned; choose the time you want on the first try. Also, the location is a little tricky. It is in a a Soi or a little alley. So leave a little time to find it."

Noel Rodrigo’s Leopard Safaris: "At home in the jungle"

Review by: boxerdr | Source: Trip Advisor
I had an outstanding stay at this Safari camp 2 weeks ago. The staff treated us like royalty, making sure every single detail of my stay was perfection. I had the privilege of being hosted by Noel and Cecile, the owners, and had equally great attention from all of the other staff in their absence. The safari guides, Sanj, Damian and Prameet all went the extra mile to ensure our visits were full of wildlife sightings, all knowledgeable in the flora and fauna seen. The food served at each meal is fantastic and abundant. The accommodations are appropriately rustic and comfortable. Can't wait to go back!

Amata Lanna: "Hidden jem"

Review by: BiffaChristchurch | Source: Trip Advisor
"This is the second time we have stayed here and hopefully not the last. The owner and staff are amazing and very helpful. We stayed in the same room as before which overlooks the lovely little pool. Room is a good size with a large bathroom with both shower and large bath. Very comfortable bed. Breakfast was always a delight with both Asian and western choices. I understand that the owners are having a second hotel built,if the same standards are kept up it can only be a great success."

The River Resort: "Paradis"

Review by: sylvain2308 | Source: Trip Advisor

Samanea Beach Resort: "Kep, I adore you"

Review by: Skreets O | Source: Trip Advisor
"Not in the main bit of town but only a short tuk tuk ride into the crab market. It was so nice and peaceful though. Staff are amazing and incredibly helpful. Our room was beautiful and clean. Just a small issue with doors closing properly to the outside bathroom which could've been an issue if not for the big spray provided by the hotel. If you're after a beautiful and relaxing location this is the place to stay."

Maduzi Hotel: "One of the best and even better than some 5 star hotel"

Review by: Vinessa C | Source: Trip Advisor
"I was really impressed with Maduzi hotel and it has well surpassed my expectation. The hotel is cozy, staffs are friendly and helpful and make me feels comfortable like home. I have decided to choose this hotel because we could customise the early check in and check out time which I highly appreciate as I had early flight to Bangkok and late flight home. I checked into the hotel at 8am and get to checked out at 7pm. The hotel is in walking distant to Terminal 21 and Asoke station which is very convenient for travelling around Bangkok. Beside the hotel is 7-11 and you can get almost anything you need. Their staffs are very friendly and genuinely nice and they are always there when you need help from them. I checked in on the 14 of Oct, and was greeted warmly by all the staffs. The guy that helped us for the check in carried our luggage and placed it in the walk in wardrobe while pointing out the coffee machine and explaining to us how to use the Jacuzzi bathtub etc. He also explained to us in detailed on how to go about Bangkok which is really helpful. The room is clean and the bed is super large and comfortable. I have never seen such a huge bed in a boutique hotel before! The Jacuzzi bathtub is fantastic and is large enough for 2 person. Breakfast was delicious and has beautiful plating. I have had such wonderful experience at Maduzi and would definitely recommend anyone to stay here when in Bangkok. This hotel deserve a 5 stars rating and I would definitely choose this hotel again if I ever visit Bangkok in the future. Cheers Maduzi Hotel!"

Satri House: "elegant and family friendly"

Review by: MariaPaul1 | Source: Trip Advisor
we stayed as 2 parents, 2 children and a grandparent. We were conveniently given 2 adjoining rooms, both gorgeous and spacious. Satri house is larger than expected and very pretty, I kept getting lost on the way to breakfast! The 2 swimming pools were fantastic and refreshing. The staff were all very friendly, even when we were struggling to communicate! Julie and Gianni are very helpful and kind. My husband loved their Lao whiskey! One morning we got up at 4.30am to see the morning alms. However we found there were monks just in front of the hotel which was very beautiful to see. Our kids treasure the little Hill tribe dolls they were each given as we sadly departed. Although it is not right in the heart of Luang Prabang, it was an easy walk and easier tuk tuk away. Highly recommended!

Dewakan: "A Revelation"

Review by: etsija | Source: Trip Advisor
"Many Europeans find the traditional Malaysian Cuisine challenging, with blachang , ikan bilis and fiery sambals. However at the Dewakan you will experience a startling transformation ! The chef has worked in Denmark at Noma, regarded by many as the best restaurant in the world were only local produce is used. The Chef has taken this concept to Malaysia and uses only local raw materials except for the lamb. The result is amazing. This new take on traditional Malaysian dishes is very appealing both in taste and presentation. Do not miss this experience !"

Jing’s Residence: "Why did we stay only one night?"

Review by: jcrane66 | Source: Trip Advisor
"Actually, the answer to the question in the title of this review is that we didn't have more time to spend on holiday. Our greatest mistake was not having two nights at this lovely hotel. Imam at reception was kind and welcoming. He made us feel right at home. The room was gorgeous and the courtyards of the hotel are lovely. The hotel is so quiet - it was the best night sleep we had the whole holiday! The breakfast was off a menu and the choices were both Chinese and Western. And both of our choices were delicious. We also decided to eat dinner at the hotel. It was ""upscale"" pricewise, but the food was excellent and well presented. We also were able to try some of the local dishes which we would have missed out on if we were just wandering the streets. We would recommend this hotel to anyone - and we hope that one day we will find ourselves back in the Jing Residence.... "
