tugu bali: "Staying in the middle of art and culture"

Review by: Kristjan K | Source: tripadvisor.com
"We were travelling with three small kids (3,5,7) and Tugu hotel in Canggu was our last stop in Bali after staying in Intercontinental Jimbaran and the villas in Ubud and Lovina. We were looking for something different than the large chain hotels and Tugu hotel turned out to be just the right place. The hotel does not belong to the Small Luxury Hotels, Relais&Chateaux (they do not have any hotels in Indonesia yet?) or Boutique Hotels, so we found it kind of accidentally as our friends had recommended to stay in Canggu area and hotel Tugu is #1 in Canggu. The hotel could easily fit into the quality standards of the small luxury hotels. Although the hotel has a pool, this is not the reason to come to this hotel. There are hotels with bigger and better pools. Tugu hotel is for the guests who love architecture, art and culture, who are excited about original interior design and high quality antiquities and handicraft surrounding at every step: in the room, in the garden and literally everywhere. The service was perfect even on the background of the Balinese being in general polite and friendly. I would like to give special thank you to Pande Dwipa for an excursion in the facilities: Tugu hotel is an exquisite art museum and hotel in one. I can only admire the vision of the hotel owner Anhar Setjadibrata, to share the art he has collected with the guests in his hotels. Tugu hotel is definitely ""worth a detour"", to use a Michelin term. "

Les Maisons d’Itac: "BEST PLACE EVER! Suite Télémac ❤️"

Review by: Shy D | Source: Trip Advisor
"It's been a long time since I've been in the Philippines and it was his first time to go for a proper visit (stopped over on the way to Australia back in '99). I wanted to make sure he sees how beautiful the islands are and make him experience local culture and the Filipinos signature hospitality without compromising some luxuries. Boy, oh boy, this place made an impression! Our first time in Cebu coming from an awesome 3 days in Boracay, we thought this place will have to work really hard to impress us. We arrived at the Cebu Mactan airport and was picked up by a friendly ""Kuya"" that we arranged with Sir Bryan. His car was clean and he let us do a bit of shopping at the nearby Savemore supermarket while he waited at the parking lot. I admired his patience. He told us it'll take around 3hours to get to the resort and I thought we were ok with it. I am not a very patient passenger, plus we just came from a tiring flight and barely had time to rest. I kept thinking that I made the wrong decision with booking this property because it was miles and miles (and miles) away from the airport. Eventually, we arrived at the resort late at around 8pm and it was already dark so I was like, ""okay, give it a chance in the morning"". We were lead to our private villa and I was pleasantly surprised at how perfect it was with our own pool, 3 rooms, a hut and a cabana! Sir Bryan called one of the girls to fix us a meal and it was delicious. I am not kidding, it was. We were the only guests because it was the town fiesta (festival honoring the feast day of their patron saint) and Sir Bryan was worried that guests might not be happy with the noises the parties might cause. I was warned about this beforehand but we were totally ok and were actually planning to join the party. In the morning, we woke up and our jaws dropped after realising how gorgeous the whole property was. Breakfast was unforgettable, especially the fresh mango smoothie/shake (so sweet and not even a grain of sugar was added in it!). On other days we had different fruit shakes and the staff made sure they were all fresh and perfect. The food, as I've mentioned, is simply perfect. Loads of activities around and we were luck enough to join the fluvial parade during the town feast and we had so much fun chasing and trying to get the passengers on the other boat as wet with sea water as we can. We ended up getting back after around an hour soaked, but incredibly happy. We had our first try with stand up paddle-boarding and it was great! People who like their own space and respect other people's will fall in love with this place. The marine sanctuary right in front of this property is a great indicator they care about the earth. It is one of the best holidays and resort I've been to. We left with a heavy heart and wished we could've stayed a bit longer. Will definitely try and visit again if we ever go back to the Philippines."

The Hue House: "Amazing and Excellent Value"

Review by: AndrewTaylorson | Source: Trip Advisor
"We look for a restaurant Close to our hotel and this was one of 6. It had excellent reviews and we wholly endorse that view. We were warmly greeted and looked after by friendly smiling staff. Who were keen to serve but not over attentive in doing so, just as we preferred. The choice of food was traditional/regional Vietnamese and was superb. Excellent appetisers and main courses This is a little gem and not that busy probably because it is accessed via a main office building reception. Located on the 10th floor it enjoys commanding views over the city. Highly recommended."

Glenburn Tea Estate: "Magical Location and Five star service"

Review by: Lucinda P | Source: Trip Advisor
The magical location of this resort poised on a hill with direct views of Darjeeling town and Kachenjunga from my bedroom window is quite unforgettable. Lush gardens communal dinners and a sense of a bygone time reminiscent of the british rag. Day trips to Darjeeling and Kalipong and the river camp. Husna and Alex went out of their way to make me feel at home.

Villa Mathis: "Chris and the Staff is the reason to stay here"

Review by: PMH80 | Source: tripadvisor.com
"We stayed over new years, my wife, our two young kids, and myself. The villa was very nice and clean. The pool and grounds were great. Food is nice. But the main reason this trip out of many to Bali was great, was because of Chris and his staff. They went so far and beyond what is normal. We had so much going on at the time, and we asked and leveraged Chris for so much more than we normally do. He was great, patient and very accommodating. We can't say enough nice things about him and his team. Thanks guys!!!"

Summertime Villa: "A true garden of Eden"

Review by: EricO1966 | Source: Trip Advisor
"I spent 3 truly stunning nights in Summertime a few months back. I waited a while to write this review to see if my opinion would change over time. It hasn't. This stay was a transformative experience. Built with love by a couple still in love, Summertime is an oasis of peace in one of the most beautiful region of India. Wild peacocks all around, graceful birds endlessly plunging in the infinity pool for a brief splash, beautiful gardens, a koi pond, a majestic living/dining room, 3 enormous bedrooms with ensuites and walk in closets and wonderful staff all awaited to make my stay one of the great experiences of my traveling life. I cannot recommend enough the warm and welcoming hospitality of Hans and Sucheta."

Muang La Resort: "Doesn’t get any better than this"

Review by: RoBertie | Source: tripadvisor.com
This is a beautiful small resort that has everything from hot springs, saunas, massage, trips, etc. It is located on the river with natural hot springs where the villagers come at 5:00 to bathe. Besides these public springs there are two large hot tubs on the property. There is great attention to detail here from the citronella candles, to infusion teas, to well appointed rooms. It is really a magical place to sit and relax. Try to spend 3 nights so you can enjoy the facility as well as go on some excursions to the temple and villages in the surrounding area. The food is a set menu ( 5 courses for dinner) and excellent. Home made yogurts and sorbet and local Lao dishes with locally sourced ingredients. If in Laos, come here!

Tugu Bali: "Secret pearl"

Review by: Jelle H | Source: Trip Advisor
"It was the second time in 3 years that we stayed in this lovely boutique hotel. The dedicated staff takes 24 hrs. care about you and you are not a ""number"" in this hotel. The food served is delicious and the atmosphere is relaxed. We will absolutely come back in this ""secret pearl"" when we will visit Bali again."
