The River Resort: "Mekong glorious"
"We got upgraded for being the first Taiwanese visitors in its much venerated history (lol) and the river view is so very good, even a terrible photographer could shoot a photo with hues like Apocalypse Now or King Kong. Food is actually unexpectedly good, all the staff are wonderful people, I could not come up with anything to complain except that it's kinda weird with hotel this big and visitors this scarce, a bit ""Get Out"" as my friends and I had consensus upon."Maison Polanka: "Spoil yourself"
"This place was top notch. It was beautiful and quiet and the rooms were perfect. But what makes it top notch was all of the detail and the way the staff anticipate your needs. For example, we mentioned we might take their free bicycles into town so when we later left our room we noticed they had set out two bikes but also put cold water and a map in the baskets for us. You can book drivers/tuk tuks/guides through the hotel for temple visits and they always sent water and cold towels with the drivers- much appreciated in that heat! The hotel food was the best we had in the city. There are only five rooms so it feels personal but still offers plenty of privacy. The pool is the perfect place to hang out in the hot afternoons (or any time) and the entire compound makes you feel like you are in an oasis. The staff could not have been friendlier or more thorough. This place was worth every penny. Stayed March 2017, traveled as a couple"SUMMERTIME VILLA: "A delightful stay"
You want a piece of heaven, people say head to Goa. You want a piece of heaven, a place to call your own for few days, head to Summertime in Goa. For me, it was love at first sight. It is tucked in one of the by lanes of Calangute, away from the noise, has a small sprawling drive up to the main house and a private swimming pool to boast. It is built like a Balinese villa, is open, spacious and is extremely welcoming. It has an in house kitchen and a few hours’ notice the help can whip up delicious and scrumptious food. We had biryani, eggs and cold coffee. Yum!! It is close hustle and the bustle and yet offers peace and serenity which is so essential. The hidden and the real gem are the books shelves. They even have books in the chairs. And don’t miss the delightful and fun conversation with the owners. You just wouldn’t wanna leaveSlow Villas and Spa: "Best of the Gili islands"
Amazing place! Luxury, privacy and wonderful staff, definitely one of the best places to stay on the gili islands, thank you Julie and your slow family for having us! Couldn't recommend this place moreThe Cabochon Hotel: "Beautiful place, lovely stay"
Had a wonderful stay here recently. The building itself was a wonder, and the rooftop pool a nice respite from the hustle and bustle of Bangkok. Breakfast was excellent, as were the staff. Wish we had stayed more than the one night, so will have to return next time we are in Bangkok.MesaStila: "A trip to Paradise"
"Have just returned from a holiday to Indonesia that started with a fabulous 7 nights at Mesa Stila. Walking onto the verandah of our beautiful house every morning, with a cup of coffee made from the beans grown on the estate and seeing the spectacular view of volcanoes and hearing the sounds of the jungle was truly magical. The staff here are so friendly and attentive to your every need. The food is delicious and uses produce grown on the estate, as well as homemade yoghurt, ice cream, sorbets, bread etc. Do try the coconut porridge for breakfast and the pina colada salad is a revelation! Do also go to the spa and indulge in a massage. Every treatment starts with a spell in the steam room and finishes with a refreshing pot of ginger tea and small treats. The masseurs are excellent, Citra has the tiniest hands but a powerful, healing touch. We were very grateful to Erny for organising our treatments so thoughtfully. There's a great programme of events too but walking around the grounds and lying by the infinity pool gazing into the jungle left me truly refreshed and ready to face the world again. I hope I'll be returning soon! "Arumdalu: "Family Vacation"
"Overall, I think the resort was spot on. It had everything a family who enjoys traveling needs. Massive rooms that can fit up to around 5 people, though you need to have additional beds that can be provided by the resort. I can say this as I travelled with a huge family of 23. Not only the rooms, the culinary served there was also spectacular though it takes a while to prepare. It has it's own flavor and really has it's speciality for each meal. Though the food looks relatively small, it really changes your mind when you finish it as it makes your stomach full. The activities are also very enjoyable and most of them can be done by everyone. The resort provides kayaks, that can be used in the secluded beach, there are bicycles that can be used to ride along the road heading to a spot to hike, Batu Baginda. Though the route can be challenging for some people, once you reach the spot you can really enjoy the view and the whole trip was worth it. It takes around 2 hours to get there and back. (these activities needs an extra cost) It was late December when me and my family went there so luckily, they gave us a great new year experience by the beach. They had tents prepared for us and there were music to accompany us. But the best part of the event were the fireworks, they were spectacular as they were endless and massive."Le Du Wine Bar & Restaurant: "Exquisite!"
"I was very impressed! And usually I’m not by most things fusion. But here you have some very regular Thai dishes that have been modified with a flair! Different, special, and high quality ingredients are incorporated, expect unusual and beautiful presentations yet many of the flavours are so true Thai originals, especially like the curries, here served as sauce/gravy. These flavours are distinctly Thai and have not been altered, and I find I difficult to get these typical flavours in most other Thai restaurants nowadays! We were a group of five so did get to try a large selection from the menu. Almost everything left me wanting more!! Location is a bit hard to find, tucked in little lane off Narathiwat Road also accessible from Silom. I would go again, and would recommend highly, especially for those looking for Thai food with a creative touch! "Tugu Malang: "Super!"
"At Tugu Malang they really understand how to treat hotel guest. Such hospitality is rare but absolutely great. Each member of the staff goes the extra mile to please the guests. The hotel also doubles as a museum. It is really a fabulous place. Rooms are well equiped (not your standard decoration though). We also tried the restaurant: same story ... Staff is super helpful and friendly food ... A huge choice of dishes from malang street food, chinese, dutch and italian cuisine ... Pages and pages of dishes. The kitchen must be super organized because food arrives pretty quickly and was so really good. If you go to Malang.... This is the hotel to book"Locavore: "A wonderful experience."
"Fantastic fine dinning in the heart of Ubud. The seven courses plus matching drinks were excellent and delicious, as was the pre dinner 'snacks'. The highlights for me were 'into the sawah' and 'bubur sumsum'. The service was outstanding with each dish and drink fully explained by the waitress. My partner and I left full and very satisfied. The experience is not cheap by any means but certainly worth treating yourself when in Ubud or Bali."Travel Asia with Secret Retreats
