"This would have to be the best overall holiday experience of my life incredible diving and snorkelling a resort that doesn't just talk ECO but walks it in a big way lovely accommodation in a beautiful setting, you don't want to leave. Fabulous staff who really look after you ( get a massage) the food is excellent and they will do something special if you don't fancy anything on the menu. "During our 1800km TukTuk challenge from Mumbai to Kanyakumari, we had a two night stay at the resort. On arrival at the hotel after a tiring rickshaw drive, we were greeted and offered fresh coconut water as welcome drink. We were fortunate to have a rest day at the tranquil resort - far from the madding crowd. The accommodation/bungalows were clean and well furnished. The food was good and staff very friendly, courtious and eager to help. It has a clem beach and swimming in the sea was very enjoyable. It's the place to go to for a quiet, restful and relaxing holiday. We also had a 'thank you' card from the manager before we departed - you don't see this often. This historic hotel is a museum as much a hotel. I have been staying here for around 15 years and the service never falters it is perfect. From the moment you enter reception you are treated like an individual. The staff go out of their way to remember your name and always refer to you by name. The dining at the restaurant is fabulous. This was our third visit to Locavore and once again we went away fully impressed by the menu, the quality and presentation of the food, the skilled pairing of the drinks, the efficient service and the art and professionalism of the chefs as we sat at the kitchen table. "We spent 3 nights in Tugu and were firstly impressed by the size and beauty of the property. The long stretch of private beach and two pools offer a lot of space and comfy sun loungers. The surrounding area and restaurant/ lobby is beautiful - very authentic and often pays tribute to the Hindu religion and times gone by, but is very charming. The service is excellent - they offer a very personal service and give great advice about hotel activities and the surrounding areas. Elly and Henry in reception are brilliant. The menu is extensive and the food was good. Smoothies and cocktails are excellent. We also enjoyed a private yoga class and massage - both were great and reasonably priced. "A peaceful period hotel in a slightly remote setting. The gardens are enchanting, the pool side very inviting, the staff very warm and cordial. To top it off the food was really good and served in different settings in the various outdoor locales that the hotel boasts. Don't opt for the Burj rooms though. The deluxe rooms are good..And the suites are very royal though pricier. A big thank you to Mr Yogi, the manager, Mr Hemendra ( F&B) and Sandeep for taking such good care of us. "Our 4 night visit to Samanea was perfect in every aspect. Very tranquil surroundings. Villas are large and well equipped. Enjoyed the outdoor bathroom and the 2 resident frogs. Staff cannot do enough to help guests. They are friendly, polite and very efficient. I like that they employ locals. Food was enjoyable and full of flavour. Restaurant service excellent. Staff will set up tables for meals anywhere you wish. By the pool, the beach, the jetty or you can dine in the restaurant. This is truly a place to relax. The hotel can arrange tours or tuk tuk for getting about. We arranged transport from Phnom Penh with private car. The Resort can arrange this for you. Very good driver and well presented and reliable at competitive rate. Driver Tim speaks good english and is helpful and knowledgeable. A beautiful small resort in the garden of a former palace, which is well renovated, while the new parts are tastefully added, surrounded by a lush and quiet garden. 2 swimming pools, a restaurant and a spa complete the retreat. Superbly decorated, big rooms, ours was with a balcony with all privacy. Roomservice was perfect, they bring a small snack in the afternoon and prepare the room for sleeping in the evening. Breakfast was good (even so the espresso was a payable extra, a bit stingy considering the price). The staff very friendly and helpful - some extra english lessons for them would be good... Location wise a bit out of town, but in a walkable distance or an easy and cheap trip with tuktuk - the advantage of absolute quietness worth.
